Smartlipo is laser-assisted lipolysis which can induce modest amount of skin tightening in addition to the fat removal. The amount of skin tightening varies person to person. In general, I see about 15 to 20% improvement with skin tightening. On occasion, I see more skin tightening up to 25 to 30%. It’s best to have a qualified plastic surgeon assess your abdomen to determine the best treatment option.

It’s not a requirement to have 2 sessions of MiraDry. The average improvement after single treatment of miraDry is around 70%. Majority of our patients are satisfied with single session. About 15 to 20% of our patients will elect to have a 2nd session even with significant improvement. We like to use maximal treatment level each time in order to achieve maximal result. First, I am assuming that you are cancer free since the surgery and you do not have any arm swelling as a result of removal of lymph nodes. The sweat glands that were destroyed by miraDry treatment either stay dormant or slowly shrink over time. Even when the treated glands are present, they are not nearly as active as indicated by the iodine-starch test. While the miraDry is highly effective, it’s does not eliminate 100% of the sweat glands. Our most common result is about 70% improvement after single treatment.Sincerely,

First, congratulations on your miraDry treatment. It’s very common and normal to experience some degree of swelling post miraDry. It’s expected to dissipate over 3 to 5 days post treatment but occasionally we have seen mild swelling persist for 7 to 10 days. You may also experience swollen lymph nodes. Currently, MiraDry is FDA approved to treat the axilla only. The current available treatment applicator is not well suited for the skin surface of the hands and feet.

Surgical removal of sweat glands is an effective way of reduce bad smell but it’s can lead to poor scarring and complications. I would highly suggest that you look into MiraDry as a minimally invasive, non surgical treatment option. MiraDry has low risks and complications compared to surgical excision. It’s easy to perform, taking about one hour to complete with minimal discomfort. Results are quick and lasting.
