His expertise spans facial aesthetic procedures like facelifts, neck lifts, brow lifts, eyelid surgery, and rhinoplasty, as well as breast and body procedures such as breast augmentation, tummy tucks, mommy makeovers, and liposculpture. “The goal of plastic surgery should be to fix what might be wrong, return to a more youthful state, and boost one’s confidence. Osteotomy technique during rhinoplasty?
Many approaches to an osteotomy
Feb 24, 2020
Typically, an osteotomy does require some sort of chisel type instrument. There are however different sizes, shapes and approaches to this. Many individual surgeons have their preference in terms of technique. When I see patients seeking a rhinoplasty who would benefit from an osteotomy, a review in depth my approach and why I use that approach. I highly recommend seeing a board certified plastic surgeon to discuss all of your concerns as they will likely be able to answer this question as...
Would I benefit from a rhinoplasty?
Subtle changes can bring out beauty
Feb 24, 2020
I’d like to start by saying that you should not hate your face. It is remarkable that even subtle changes in appearance can bring out great beauty lying just beneath the surface. Rhinoplasty surgery can help contour, shape, and refine the nose in a very natural way. The best way to really gain an understanding of whether a procedure will be a benefit for you is to go into a practitioner who has 3-D morphing software. I find it very helpful when I meet with patients to use this software to a...
What procedures should I prioritize?
We're all asymmetrical
Feb 24, 2020
Everyone has some element of asymmetry. My general advice for patients who come in considering cosmetic procedures, is to start with the areas that concern you the most. When meeting with patients for the first time, I ask them to list their concerns in order of greatest concern to least concern. It is an excellent way of starting any aesthetic journey. By starting with your greatest concern, you would likely achieve the greatest amount of satisfaction.

After 3 Days from Rhinoplasty, the Swelling Moved to my Lower Cheeks!
No need to ice
Feb 24, 2020
No need to apply ice. Gravity affects swelling. Swelling from around the nose and eyes will migrate down slowly in the first week after surgery and generally will be gone by about a week after surgery. Other than rest and keeping your head elevated, time alone will help the swelling resolve.

When to Stop Drinking Alcohol Prior to Surgery?
Stop drinking prior to your rhinoplasty
Jan 29, 2020
Every doctor has his or her own protocol. I would suggest speaking with your surgeon directly.

The answer to this will vary from surgeon to surgeon, but I tell my patients to stop alcohol at least 48 hours before surgery, because some patients become dehydrated from the alcohol. I also have them avoid red wine for at least 2 weeks before as it may increase bruising. It’s best to make sure your surgeon and anesthesiologist doing your procedure knows your alcohol intake. C...

Rhinoplasty Recovery Time and Downtime?
Rhinoplasty is one week of social downtime!
Jan 29, 2020
Early recovery time is 7 to 14 days
Bandages come off 7 to 10 days
Go out in public 7 to 10 days

What you do prior to me doing your rhinoplasty can impact the speed of your healing. I want every patient to heal as quickly as possible. While each patient is unique and varying skin types play a large role in healing factors, I do have a list of suggestions that I always share with my patients, so they can take every measure to avoid excessive swelling and bruising.
For at least 2 weeks...

What is the typical rhinoplasty recovery like?
Rhinoplasty is one week of social downtime!
Jan 29, 2020
At the end of your rhinoplasty surgery, I place a splint and a bandage over your nose to protect your new shape. This cast remains in place for about 7 to 10 days. If you want to go out socially, or go to work with it on, you certainly can, but most patients choose to remain out of site during this week. While the splint is on, my patients usually take a few days off of work, or work from home. Most patients plan to take about a week off from any major activities.

It’s common to e...

Why would tummy tuck and liposuction near the incision line in your abdomen at the same time be very ri
Tummy Tuck and Liposuction - near the incision line in your abdomen can be risky, if done at the same time
Jan 29, 2020
Lifting the skin when performing a tummy tuck disrupts some of the blood supply. A surgeon should be aware of how much disruption, as well as which areas are more at risk when performing surgeries. The lower central skin right above the lower incision is most at risk when performing a tummy tuck as the blood supply to that area is the weakest after undergoing the surgery. This risk is most pronounced in the early period after surgery. Therefore, most surgeons including myself would not...
After a rhinoplasty, are the muscles in the nose still able to function and flare your nostrils?
You can "flare" your nostrils after rhinoplasty
Jan 29, 2020
The nasal muscles should be able to function normally after a rhinoplasty. Patient may notice that they have decreased function in the immediate period after surgery as swelling limits this motion. However, as swelling resolves the function should return. One exception to this is the nasal depressor muscle fibers that are sometimes intentionally disrupted by the surgeon to limit how much the tip turns down when someone smiles.
What are my options regarding rhinoplasty? Would my nose be a good applicant for this surgery?
Utilize 3D computer simulations to get a better sense of what your surgeon anticipates your results will be.
Jan 10, 2020
You would be a candidate for a rhinoplasty procedure. While I would except to see significant improvement in your nasal aesthetics, the thickness of your skin may partially limit how refined your nose will be after surgery. Before someone like you should proceed with surgery, you should meet with your surgeon for an extended period of time and utilize 3D computer simulations to get a better sense of what your surgeon anticipates your results will be. This will allow you to feel the comfort...
Could I have a closed rhino or will a nose filler look good with my nose?
A filler will definitely help hide the nasal bump, however it will not serve any purpose in shortening your nose.
Jan 10, 2020
Fillers to the nose, otherwise known as a liquid rhinoplasty, have value for many patients. It is valuable at softening or hiding a nasal bump and is a quick and often easy way to improve someone’s nasal aesthetics. In your case, adding in a filler will definitely help hide the nasal bump; however it will not serve any purpose in shortening your nose. Computer simulations can often be helpful at showing someone what a liquid rhinoplasty will do, to see whether it will do enough to m...
I'm not satisfied with the simulation for rhinoplasty. What is your opinion please - especially the tip
Computer simulations are valuable, but do not give the complete picture.
Jan 10, 2020
Computer simulations for any procedure, including rhinoplasty surgery is valuable in many ways, but does not give the complete picture of the potential for the procedure. While simulations give you a window into what things will look like, it is much more valuable to speak at length with your surgeon and feel comfortable that you both have the same vision for your rhinoplasty. In addition, it is also helpful to see some of the before and after results of the surgeon you are considering...
Should I go for a facelift?
Facelift at 53
Jun 16, 2017
Hi @vicky1126 considering a facelift in ones 40’s – 50’s is reasonable but it is not always necessary. While for some it is the perfect procedure, for others it is too much too early. For those that are not ready a better long lasting option would be combining neck and jawline tightening with FaceTite in conjunction with fillers or fat grafting. FaceTite™ utilizes state-of-the-art bipolar radio frequency (RF) technology to target underlying facial tissues and achieve signi...

Mini Lift
Jun 15, 2017
Hi @Lovethewave the mini facelift is ideal for patients in the earlier stages of facial aging to address jowling, mid-face descent, and mild neck laxity. It elevates the cheeks to a more youthful position, defining the jawline and tightening the neck. A mini facelift may also be combined with other facial rejuvenation procedures, including fat grafting, laser skin resurfacing, and eye rejuvenation.
