26 year old lady requesting a smaller nose. She requested a near straight shape to the nasal profile when viewed form the side with no “ski jump” appearance. She was aware of significant asymmetry of her nostril shape and height that she also sought to be improved. Post-operative result at 12 months shows the nose to be smaller with a dorsal contour matching the patient’s wishes. Interestingly there is still swelling of the nasal tip giving it a slightly rounded appearance. This will continue to improve over the next 12 months. Some patients retain fluid in the tip of the nose (the most gravity dependent part and the part of the nose with the thickest nasal skin) for long periods after a rhinoplasty and patience is needed for this to settle completely. Steroid injections can be helpful to expedite this resolution in some patients with very thick skin.
