Can you have rhinoplasty whilst undergoing surgery to manipulate a fractured nose?
Well, it’s probably not a good idea. More…
Aug 19, 2020
In a rhinoplasty, we try to make very exacting changes. When the nose is swollen from trauma, it’s impossible to know just what changes should be made, with precision. We usually recommend delaying a rhinoplasty for at least six weeks, to allow the swelling to subside.
Do the risks often outweigh the benefits of having a fourth nose surgery?
Well, it depends on how much change is needed. More advice …

It’s true that operations get more difficult the more you have. But in general, the bigger the changes you are looking for, the more likely it’s a reasonable idea. It’s very hard to make only a tiny tweak, but if the goal is a larger change, and we miss by a bit, you still end up with a good improvement.

How *much to make the changes? We figure that out with morphs, well before surgery.

Remember that rhinoplasty is an exquisitely difficult operation to get right, and you should only have…

The prominences that you see are there, most likely, because the two nasal bones, which form the upper third of the nose, are far apart from each other, and they need to be moved closer to each other. Picture your nose made out of clay, and you take your thumb and forefinger and push those bumps closer to each other. The reason I say they probably can’t be rasped is that the bones are only about a millimeter thick, so if you rasp them that much, which wouldn’t be enough, you’ve gone all the…
Can the length of my nose be shortened? I want a small, short nose that fits my face
Your nose has three main features that should be changed to get a “small, short nose.” More …

Your nose is very strong in its forward projection from your face. The tip can be brought back closer to your face. We call that “de-projecting” the tip.
The woman in the short video that I posted with this answer had the tip of her nose de-projected a significant amount in her rhinoplasty.
Then, when a nose is de-projected, it tends to *look* longer, as if the tip had drooped. And your tip is a bit droopy anyway, and you like a small-ish nose (as do I). So it’s important to elevate the t…
Am I a good rhinoplasty candidate? I’m 19 years old.
Yes, you’re an excellent candidate, but I’ve got a couple features to add to your list, and there’s a couple caveats…

You do have that bulbous tip. As is typical, the tip width is best seen in a three-quarters view, your number 5 of 6, where the wide tip looks like a second bump below the bridge bump. The woman in the short video that I posted with this answer had the tip of her narrowed in her rhinoplasty. And yes, the bump on the bridge can be lowered. But as I said, there are other features to your nose as well, and you must be certain that the surgeon recognizes them and has a way to correct them, because…
Can anyone advise on how rhinoplasty surgery would be done thin skin?
Your skin thickness shouldn’t get in the way. But careful — don’t just remove the hump. More…
Jul 7, 2020
Yes, you have that hump that can go.But when you remove a hump from the bridge, it tends to make the nose look longer, as if the tip had drooped, and you’ve got a bit of a droopy tip as it is, so the tip of your nose needs to be elevated significantly.I don’t see your skin as a problem. Yes, you can stretch it and see the cartilages underneath, and you’d be able to do that after surgery as well, but that’s not an impediment to having a rhinoplasty.
How *much* to elevate the tip, or lower the…
I’m having jaw surgery to correct my overbite/weak lower jaw. is this morph possible?
Oooh, boy, couple issues to discuss here…
Jul 6, 2020
First of all, your nose. I like the morph you made. You elevated the tip so it’s nice and short, even though you didn’t have a really long nose to begin with, and you lowered the bump on the bridge, and lowered it enough to make a slight curve, and a little dip above the tip. You left the tip of the nose strong in its forward projection away from your face, which is fine, although many people might want to move the tip back a bit closer to the fave.Next, the chin. Jaw surgery? Hmm. What are …
Surgical or Nonsurgical Rhinoplasty to fix my bulbous nose tip and hump on my bridge?
You are indeed a reasonable candidate for a rhinoplasty. But there are several issues to consider. More …
Jul 6, 2020
Yes, you have that bulbous tip. It’s formed by the two “tip” cartilages of the nose, and modifying those cartilages can narrow your tip.
The woman in the short video that I posted with this answer had the tip of her nose narrowed in her operation. And besides the bump on the bridge, the area of that bump is wide, and needs to be narrowed, or it would look even wider after narrowing your tip. When the tip cartilages are strong enough to give the tip some extra width, they are also usually…
Is there a simple way to reduce a hook nose/droopy septum?
Yeah, it’d be nice to have a simple operation, but the changes you’re showing require a “real” rhinoplasty. More …
Jul 6, 2020
The low-ish position of your tip is caused by the two cartilages that form the tip — they would be modified to bring the tip up, and that requires a rhinoplasty.
How *much* to elevate the tip, and are there other changes that seem to be needed when the tip comes up? We figure that out with morphs, well before surgery. I’d love for you to see some excellent professionally-designed morphs of what could possibly be done with your nose. Morphs could also help you identify what’s bothering …
What kind of surgery would I need for my nose?
You are a good candidate for the rhinoplasty, but you need to be especially careful in selecting your surgeon. More …
Jul 6, 2020
You have a number of issues with your nose, features to change during a rhinoplasty, and your surgeon needs to recognize and have a plan for all of them, because correcting only one or only a couple, might leave you with a nose that you like less than your current one.You have that bump on the bridge of your nose. Your nose is also strong in its forward projection from your face. The tip can be brought back closer to your face. We call that “de-projecting” the tip.

Rhinoplasty for bulbous tip: am I a suitable candidate?
Well, yeah, you need a full rhinoplasty, but I’ve got a couple other suggestions, too…
Jul 6, 2020
I see the wide tip that could be narrowed. And the frontal asymmetry. The woman in the short video that I posted with this answer had the tip of her nose narrowed in her operation. Then, when the tip cartilages are strong enough to make the tip wide, they are also usually strong enough to hold the tip out projecting away from your face. Your profile views show a strongly-projecting nose, and perhaps it would be nice to bring the tip of the nose back closer to your face. We call that…
Do I need a tip refinement?
Well, what you need is a revision rhinoplasty, to elevate that tip. More advice…
Jul 6, 2020
Even in the non-frontal views, the tip looks long-ish to me, and I think if you saw a couple morphs of what the tip would look like elevated, you’d probably agree. But your nose is still long, with the tip droopy-ish, and I think it could look much better elevated. The woman in the short video that I posted with this answer had the tip of her nose elevated (and narrowed) in her revision operation. How *much* to elevate the tip, or make other changes? We figure that out with morphs, well before…

Jul 6, 2020
When you smile, it has a tendency to distort the nose, so face-at-rest photos are really the best for evaluating a nose. But given that, what stands out to me is that your nose is long, from top to bottom, and likely your tip could be elevated a bit, without losing too much of your heritage, as you said. The nose could likely be narrowed as well, though not dramatically, which is probably fine, since you’re not looking for a gigantic change.
How *much* to elevate the tip, or narrow the …

Your nose is strong in its forward projection from your face. The tip can be brought back closer to your face. We call that “de-projecting” the tip.
Then, when a nose is de-projected, it tends to *look* longer, as if the tip had drooped. So it’s important to elevate the tip. Your tip is a bit droopy anyway, so elevating the tip’s a good thing.

Is it difficult to bring tip down during rhinoplasty?
Hmm. From these frontal views, I’m not sure yet that lowering the tip is what your nose needs. More …
Jul 6, 2020
At least from this view, it seems that the width of the tip, compared to the rest of the nose, is the culprit: narrowing the tip could help the tip blend into the rest of the nose, without seeming as isolated, and I’ll bet that that change would make your nose not look so short.Although, the profile and three-quarter views would show that issue of shortness, and also of tip width, much better. If narrowing the tip would do the trick, then you’d avoid a lengthening procedure, which comes with…
