Rhinoplasty straighten nose
Is there a way to add a bump back to the nose?
There is a way to place a bump back onto your bridge if that is what you desire. Having a consultation where computer imaging (and morphing) is done would be very helpful.
This would allow your surgeon to best determine what outcome you’re looking to achieve. A hump could be added back by grafting some of your own tissue such as cartilage or perichondrium (the natural covering found on cartilage).
A temporary effect could be achieved with a soft tissue filler injection such as restylane or juvederm. Another way to break up the straight line of a perfectly straight nose would be to create what is called a “supratip break”.
This is basically a subtle concave area on the bridge above the nasal tip. Computer imaging would allow you to see how your nose would look with this done as well. (Thomas A. Lamperti, MD, Seattle Facial Plastic Surgeon)
Rhinoplasty created a perfectly straight nose.
Before you embark on another surgical procedure you may want to consider using a filler to simulate a nasal hump. IF you like this result, you could consider a long term result with a cartilage graft. (Otto Joseph Placik, MD, Chicago Plastic Surgeon)
I have never done a perfect rhinoplasty nor have I ever had a patient tell me her nose is too straight. We really need to see photos of our face and nose , at least a frontal and a side view so we can see what you are telling us.
One of the key elements in performing a modern rhinoplasty today is to make your nose match or be in balance with the rest of your face. If you have a straight narrow nose and your face is long and narrow, this may be OK, however, if you have this with a short wide face, it may be a problem.
It is all about balance and making your nose look natural. Send us some photos so we can help you . (Rod J. Rohrich, MD, Dallas Plastic Surgeon)
Can a nose ever be “too straight”?
Most all patients who come in for a rhinoplasty consultation request a straighter nasal dorsum on profile view. I have had a few patients ask that the hump be left alone so that it looks more natural. This is where computer imaging helps.
In the initial consultation, I learn from the patient what they want from surgery and I discuss what can be achieved, realistically. You can have revision surgery, it would not be too hard to give you your bump back.
You may consider trying a little dermal filler in that area to be sure that is what you want, or use video imaging to help explain to the surgeon the look you desire. (Theda C. Kontis, MD, Baltimore Facial Plastic Surgeon)
Too-Straight Nose After Rhinoplasty
I would suggest either yur own cartilage, from the septum or ear, or a synthetic graft like alloderm or enduragen. Ensure to discuss with your surgeon to make sure you both understand how much to add. (Michel Siegel, MD, Houston Facial Plastic Surgeon)
Nose too Straight After Rhinoplasty
Rhinoplasty is the most complicated and challenging of all cosmetic surgeries. Getting a “perfect” nose sometimes just isn’t possible. However, when you get pretty close most patients are ecstatic. Before you ask to have your nose made less straight, be very careful what you are asking for. Revision rhinoplasty is even more difficult.
Adding a bump to the nose is likely going to leave you with not the “bump” you were looking for. If I were your physician, I would counsel you to leave it alone and deal with your nose looking “too straight.” If your nose was taken too far down or you had a true cosmetic problem then I would consider making an adjustment (we would need a photo to determine), but only of there was a true problem. Best of luck Vincent Marin, MD, FACS San Diego Plastic Surgeon (Vincent P. Marin, MD, San Diego Plastic Surgeon)
Straight nose add a bump?
It is an unusual request to add a dorsal hump. Yes, sometimes patients who have a flat nose want more dorsal height, and in that respect it can be done. (Steven Wallach, MD, Manhattan Plastic Surgeon)
For any of us to respond a posted photo is needed. Otherwise a “perfect” result is not acceptable. Very unusual. (Darryl J. Blinski, MD, Miami Plastic Surgeon)
Rhinoplasty, just a little off the top
How your nose looks should reflect the real you, and if you feel that the straight bridge is not right, it is possible to preserve a small hump and curve the bridge. Some like the bridge straight, and some like the look of the slight curve or slope, few ask for a bump to remain. To get things right we prefer computer imaging to ‘try out’ the look before surgery. Putting the bump back is not a small project, but certainly possible. (Peter E. Johnson, MD, Chicago Plastic Surgeon)
