Rhinoplasty Cost For Deviated Septum

Average Rhinoplasty price is around $6,500

There are many variables when it comes to quality and cost of a rhinoplasty. As one of the most complicated operations in the field of cosmetic surgery, the experience of the surgeon will usually determine how good the outcome will be.

It is in a patient’s best interest to find a surgeon who has performed thousands of rhinoplasties. The average price for rhinoplasty is between $6,000 and $7,000. Revision rhinoplasties are more complicated and take longer to perform, making their rhinoplasty cost greater, $7,000-$10,000.

It is important to ask about touch ups and if there is an associated cost. The need for touch up procedures is about 5-10% of the time due to the nuances of the healing process after a rhinoplasty.

The cost of rhinoplasty

The cost of rhinoplasty is made up of several factors. You are correct in that the location of the surgeon can partially determine cost since overhead can be several-fold higher in larger cities. Costs can be broken down into its component parts such as the surgeon’s (professional) fee, facility fee, equipment fees, and fees for anesthesia.

Usually cosmetic rhinoplasty ranges from about $6000-10000. Often times surgeons will charge more for revision surgery as these surgeries tend to be more difficult and complex. Rhinoplasty is the single most difficult and complex surgery in all of plastic surgery.

Therefore, you NEED to find a surgeon who has great experience and volume in rhinoplasty. This surgeon should also be skilled in revision rhinoplasty. I would strongly encourage you to avoid those who rarely perform the procedure. It really pays to get a consultation from a board-certified facial plastic surgeon. Many of the surgeons on this site offer free consultations to realself members, so it’s worth it to get one or more consultations to discuss your goals and potential costs. Do your due diligence and good luck! (Michael M. Kim, MD, Portland Facial Plastic Surgeon)

What Determines Rhinoplasty Cost?

Rhinoplasty procedure cost

Rhinoplasty prices vary greatly because the rhinoplasty procedure itself encompasses a wide range of techniques that can be performed to different extents. Therefore the rhinoplasty cost range is pretty wide from $6000-$12,000. My recommendation is to first find qualified surgeons that are board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery or the American Board of Otolaryngology. Find one or two surgeons you trust, then compare prices between them. Factors that influence the price include:

  1. Location – Will it be performed in a hospital with an overnight stay, an independent out- patient facility or a doctors office?
  2. Type of Anesthesia – IV sedation or General Anesthesia? Will a board certified anesthesiologist or a nurse anesthetist be used, or an RN?
  3. Experience and training of your surgeon. The best trained (and longest) would be a surgeon board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, but also consider American Board of Otolaryngology trained surgeons
  4. Rhinoplasty surgery cost

  5. Length and Complexity of Surgery – Tip Rhinoplasty only or complete rhinoplasty, open or closed technique, deviated septum repair, or breathing problems corrected, how long? etc (Larry S. Nichter, MD, MS, FACS, Orange County Plastic Surgeon)

What Does the Rhinoplasty Charge Include? OR? Anesthesia?

Remember to ask if the dollar amount quoted includes the outpatient surgery center, hospital or doctor’s office operating room charges. Also, what about anesthesia services? And, will you be having an MD anesthesiologist or CRNA ( nurse anesthetist) or will the surgeon be conducting the anesthesia? Generally, fees are higher in the larger more sophisticated cities like New York, Miami, Houston and Los Angeles. That reflects a higher rhinoplasty cost of running the practice. Staff salaries are higher, rents are steeper.

However, understand that the most highly- trained, most narrow-focused ” superspecialists” will always be located in those larger cities because the demand for excellence is greater in those more sophisticated cities. And, the area’s population is so large, it supports many such surgeons. Your chances of having a successful outcome, therefore, are higher in New York City than in Ithaca, NY. There are more supespecialist nasal surgeons in Los Angeles/Beverly Hills than there are in Fresno, CA. You get it.  (Robert Kotler, MD, Beverly Hills Facial Plastic Surgeon)

Rhinoplasty fees vary a lot

Even within one practice, the fees may vary depending on the complexity of the surgery, which can vary quite a bit from nose to nose. (David W. Kim, MD, Bay Area Facial Plastic Surgeon)
