There is no link between birth control pills and capsular contracture in breast implants. Birth control pills contain low dose hormones to alter your reproductive cycle. You should talk to your OB-Gyn about risks for cancer, especially if you have a family history of breast, ovarian or endometrial cancer or blood clots. There are multiple options for birth control, and not all contain hormones.

Hi meme1040. Thanks for your question. It seems like you have some loose skin under your umbilicus. It would be helpful to see a preoperative photo for comparison. Postoperative swelling can take months to go down, and most surgeons wait at least 6 months prior to any revisions for that reason. I would talk to your surgeon about your concerns. Wounds heal best in a slightly moist environment. I would keep the wound clean (showers 2x daily and no tub baths or swimming pools), apply a thin shiny layer (not goopy) of bacitracin ointment and cover with a bandaid. Also, since you have an implant in place, I would be seeing you or at the very least have a nurse seeing you and taking photos of progress weekly until you are completely healed. I am unable to see the photos. Spitting sutures are not unusual. Typically this can be treated with removal of the suture in question and antibiotic ointment. Best of luck!

It is not uncommon for sutures to cause an inflammatory reaction and spit through a closed wound. While your wound is likely closed in multiple layers for the best possible scar, you should see your surgeon for evaluation of this. The sutures will likely be removed and then wound care with topical antibiotic ointment done until the small openings are healed over.

There are different types of dissolvable sutures, some are soft and feel like thread while others are stiff and feel like fishing line. They have different timelines for breaking down or dissolving as well. Your surgeon can better explain time for resorption of the specific sutures placed in you.

After a wound heals in on its own with dressing changes, or by secondary intention, the resulting skin over it is delicate for some time. You have developed some granulation tissue over the wound. I would see your plastic surgeon because they may want to treat the tissue or change up your wound care regimen. Best of luck!

Swelling takes several weeks to resolve. You are still in the early post operative period. Continue to wear the soft bra provided by your surgeon and wait to buy any new bras until at least 3 months out.

Addition of breast implants will not change the position of your nipples or cause there to be a gap between your breast any more than you already have. The consulting surgeon may have been trying to say that adding volume to your breasts potentially may draw more attention to the fact that your breasts are naturally wider set. If your goal is fuller silhouette, then you should be pleased with implants.
