40 years old. Is a mini facelift too early for me?
Lifting Procedures Still the Best for Laxity
Nov 4, 2017
If there is facial laxity it is reasonable to do a minilift in the 40's.  Non-surgical treatments like Ulthera or Thermage provide some improvement but much less and only for a couple of years or so.  A minilift procedure will provide much greater correction and hold that correction for typically about 10 years or sometimes quite a bit more.  If you are significantly bothered by the laxity that shows in the photos you sent, then you should seriously consider minifacialplasty.
Are there any plastic surgeons in the San Diego area who can do a lower face & neck lift without havi
Various incision options for facelift / necklift
Oct 15, 2017
There are various incision options for facelift and necklift procedures.  Generally there is some kind of incision in front of the ear or right at the edge of the ear.  The incision can extend into the crease behind the ear and from there back along or into the hairline.  Endoscopic lifts have much smaller incisions but greatly limit the amount of rejuvenation and re-positioning that can be obtained.   Typically a facelift or necklift with moderate skin excess can be what is called a "sho...
What can I do to get rid of these neck creases?
Neck creases are wrinkles not loose skin
Oct 15, 2017
Neck creases are a difficult problem that cannot typically be completely solved but can certainly be significantly improved.  These are NOT features that are typically improved by a necklift or facelift.  Laser resurfacing helps but neck skin is too fragile to resurface strongly so lasers like Fraxel ReStore are used which are gentler.  The superficial transducer from Ultherapy treatments can also help with these lines.   Filler can help but superficial lines are difficult to chase with fill...

Surgery can modify eyelid shape
Jul 17, 2015
Typically in blepharoplasty, we are trying to alter aging changes and restore a youthful appearance to the area around the eyelids. Other procedures can be performed which will help change eyelid shape. Different ethnic groups have typical patterns to eyelid shape. If you desire to increase your appearance match with part of your ethnic background, including the tilt of the outer corner of the eyelids and the shape of the outer corner, there are procedures which can...
Why do my eyes look puffy when I smile?
Lower lid bulging after blepharoplasty -more complete correction possible
Apr 13, 2015
Bulging after blepharoplasty and wrinkling at the corners of the eye is a natural response to the forces buckling the skin which is not as elastic as in youth. Bulging just under the eyelashes across the lower lid is often the result of a bulky eyelid muscle. In the old days of open blepharoplasty through an incision in the lower eyelid skin, the muscle was sometimes trimmed down to minimize this. Transconjunctival blepharoplasty avoids the outside incision and scar but...
Is surgery my only option or could I get away with fillers? What specific procedure(s) would you reco
Facial aging and its solutions are mutifactorial
Apr 13, 2015
There are a number of aging changes shown in the image. Wrinkles in the lips, deepening of the nasolabial fold and marionette line and early jowling can all be treated with injectable fillers. Wrinkles also respond to laser resurfacing which is a longer lasting options but has recovery time. Moderate jowling is better corrected with a surgical lifting procedure -facelift, minifacelift. The bigger options give more complete, longer-lasting results but at more cost and...
[Urgent] Need help with complication diagnosis after Restylane injection on nose.
When to panic, what to do with an emergency after treatment.
Oct 20, 2014
I agree with the other responses, the appearance suggests a bruise but no one can diagnose you remotely. The first step which you correctly took, is trying to reach the treating physician who is hopefully someone you know and trust who will stick with you to figure things out and take care of them. If your treating physician is not available, the following things should lead you to the emergency room at the hospital or some other urgent care center. Sudden change in vision...
Would Restalyne be a good alternative to botox around the eyes?
The aging lower eyelid, multiple problems, multiple solutions
Feb 12, 2014
Several things happen in the lower eyelid/crow's feet area as we age. Unfortunately, each one responds best to a different solution or fix. Dynamic wrinkling when we smile or animate responds best to Botox or other agents like Dysport or Xeomin. This is mostly used in the crows feet area but occasionally in very small doses for bunching up just below the eyelashes as well. Fixed wrinkles in the crow's feet and crepiness in the lower lid respond best to peeling...

Conservative fat removal avoids hollowness after belpharoplasty
Nov 20, 2013
Like all things, the quality of the result depends on a degree of artistry and experience in removing the right amount of fat to balance lid position. Not too much (hollow) or too little (persistent bulging). Hollowness can be treated if it occurs, but a carefully performed procedure by an experienced surgeon has a low risk of hollowness.
Tightness of facelift results controllable?
Facelifting is about redraping not tightness, laxity not skin surface features
Oct 26, 2013
Face lifting is a procedure designed to treat skin laxity and restore a youthful shape to the face. We are laying the skin flat without redundancy not pulling. Regardless of technique or surgeon, the laxity is never 100% removed despite the ability to pull on face skin with the fingers and completely clear the hanging skin. Also, wrinkles, and other skin surface features are not appreciably changed in facelifting, being more appropriately addressed with chemical or laser peels. That...
Hollow Eye with Dark Circles and Fine Lines?
Eyelidplasty can treat deep tear troughs
Jul 31, 2013
There is a significant collection of fat under the eyeball that can be repositioned at the orbital rim to fill in the tear trough. The advantage of this approach is that the fat, still attached to its blood supply, will provide a long-lasting correction over years. The disadvantage is that this is a surgical treatment with recovery and somewhat more recovery than a simple blepharoplasty. In order to reposition the fat, the arcus marginalis must be released. This is...
Am I a Good Candidate for Restylane in the Tear Trough? Please Help; I'm Scheduled for the Procedure.
Restylane for safe and natural fill of the tear trough
Jul 18, 2013
Restylane and other hyaluronate fillers like Belotero and Juvederm are routinely used to fill the tear trough. This is an common injection area for advanced injectors like plastic surgeons and dermatologists who do alot of aesthetic work with fillers. This will fill your tear troughs and camouflage the early bulging or swelling in your lower lids. A little early bruising or swelling is common but after that resolves, the results should look natural. If you don't...
Burn Scar, Fraxel Working?
Fraxel laser smooths burn scars
Jun 17, 2013
Fractional ablative and fractional nonablative lasers like Fraxel Repair and Fraxel Restore are helpful in blending the pigment and texture changes of burn scars. Unfortunately, as much as we would like to completely erase a scar, they are not able to do that. Typically multiple treatments are required 3-6 being a minimum. If you have not been treated with Fraxel Repair, ask your doctor about that as an option. Very low densitities must be used.
Scarring from Fraxel...can You Predict This?
Risk of Scarring with Fraxel in a Scar Prone Patient
Mar 6, 2013
Scarring is a theoretical risk of any laser treatment if there is a healing problem. The liklihood of scarring varies tremendously depending on the treatment and settings used. A patient who forms hypertrophic scars is more likely to scar after a laser treatment like Fraxel but fractionated laser treatments have an extremely low risk of scarring to start with. An experienced laser physician can select settings and treatments in consultation with you to allow you to be...
Should I Put Juvederm in Vermillion Border on my Lips, or Would That Create Fake, Unnatural Look? (ph
Artistic Lip Augmentation Requires Shaping
Mar 6, 2013
You have a good size balance between upper and lower lips so alot more fill will look unnatural, although you might like the look personally. If you are trying to keep it natural, a bit more fill in the vermillion would be reasonable. Your vermillion border seems well defined so fill there is not necessary. The issues of lumps and swelling relate to skill of the injector and the nature of the filler. Juvederm swells a bit by absorbing more water after injection. ...
