Nostril Reduction

There are many things that can be done and some that can not. This is because we are a bit limited by our anatomy. Taking down the dorsum and narrowing the nostrils can be done.

However, if you have thick oily skin, it is often difficult to thin the nose and shoe the definition as nicely as what can be done with thinner skinned patients.

Without an exam and consultation is difficult to suggest specifics. (Steven Wallach, MD, Manhattan Plastic Surgeon)

Nostril change

I think you can come very close. Definitely bring your pictures to your consult. Your doctor’s morphing program will be closer to what he/she can achieve but these can serve as a guide.

See how close the two programs are to your goal. Always remember that these are communication guides and not guaranteed changes. (Michael L. Schwartz, MD, West Palm Beach Facial Plastic Surgeon)

You do look like a good candidate for rhinoplasty and the areas of your concern can certainly be improved with rhinoplasty. Without an in person examination of your nose and facial anatomy, it is impossible to give you expectations. I would recommend finding a board certified plastic surgeon in your area. (David Shafer, MD, New York Plastic Surgeon)

Bring your photos when considering rhinoplasty

Rhinoplasty computer imaging has been very helpful in rhinoplasty and you should be able to get close to your picture with reduction of the nostril if you like the look.

Communication is key and the simulations help you and your surgeon ‘try’ changes on your nose to see the new look will fit. (Peter E. Johnson, MD, Chicago Plastic Surgeon)

Reducing a bulbous tip and narrowing the nostrils

What you are asking for seems quite achievable based on the photos. You have a very nice nose to start with and it just could use a little refining. The small hump can be reduced, the tip refined and made more narrow, and the nostrils can also be made smaller. The nostrils are usually made smaller by removing a small wedge of tissue where your nostril meets your cheek and lip. The scar is very small and very hard to see. Bring your photos to your consult. They will be helpful. (Jeffrey E. Kyllo, MD, Seattle Plastic Surgeon)

A bulbous tip and profile as you mentioned are issues that may be substantially improved via rhinoplasty. A nostril reduction can also be included after an in-person exam with a board certified surgeon. The pictures shown here do not include all the information necessary to make a complete evaluation. The pictures you’ve created are worthwhile to show and discuss during your consultation. He or she will likely discuss what is realistic and achievable in your case. (David C. Yao, MD, FACS, Phoenix Plastic Surgeon)

You probably can get close to your pictures. However I think the ap view is way overdone and looks very surigical. I wou recommend a more conservative look. (David A. Bray, Sr., MD, Los Angeles Facial Plastic Surgeon)

Very impressive photoshop work on your part. I think your results are very achievable and yes I would bring these photos with you on your consultation. I am not convinced that you need nostril reduction especially based on these 4 photos, but nostril reduction can easily be done. A small wedge of tissue can be removed from the lateral aspect of the ala or at the nostril sill. This would leave a well concealed scar but a scar none the less. (Louise Ferland, MD, Richmond Plastic Surgeon)

Narrowing nostrils is part of nasal cosmetic surgery. Speak to the doctor you see, and make sure they are well trained in rhinoplastic surgery (William B. Rosenblatt, MD, New York Plastic Surgeon)
