Is high absolute eosinophil count an issue? Will my sx be cancelled? I do have bad environme
Eosinophil count
Nov 29, 2020
If you have bad allergies, then you may have a higher eosinophil count. In general, this is not a reason to cancel surgery nor will it affect your recovery in any way.
Rhinoplasty for asymmetrical nostrils and bulbous tip?
Tip Rhinoplasty
Nov 29, 2020
A bulbous nasal tip is most commonly due to large size of the tip cartilages, but can also be due to broad curvature of the tip cartilages or overly thick nasal skin. The vast majority of patients can get a significant improvement with conservatively reducing the size of the tip cartilages and/or suturing the tip cartilages to have better shape. Asymmetries of the tip cartilages are common and can be addressed using the same techniques. Additionally, a deviated septum can lead to nostril…
Can I reduce my dorsal hump without altering my tip?
Bump reduction
Nov 29, 2020
Yes, the bump on your bridge can be reduced without modifying the nasal tip. This can be done through a standard external rhinoplasty approach (incision under nose) or an endonasal approach (incisions inside the nose). Both approaches can achieve the same result, it’s mainly up to surgeon preference. An endonasal approach may have a slightly shorter recovery and lower risk of long-term irregularities of the nasal tip. Regardless of technique, reducing a large bump often requires breaking the…
Are tips like the ones pictured prone to collapse?
Rhinoplasty – balancing form and function
Nov 29, 2020
Tip refinement is often performed by reducing the size of the tip cartilages or even transecting the tip cartilages. Any rhinoplasty technique that reduces the size of the nose can lead to difficulty breathing if done too aggressively. Not being able to breathe through your nose can be severely debilitating and many patients will choose to have revision rhinoplasty to improve their breathing. Reconstructing the nasal tip in a revision rhinoplasty can sometimes be a challenge for the surgeon…

tip rhinoplasty
Nov 29, 2020
A bulbous nasal tip is most commonly due to large size of the tip cartilages, but can also be due to broad curvature of the tip cartilages or overly thick nasal skin. The vast majority of patients can get a significant improvement with conservatively reducing the size of the tip cartilages and/or suturing the tip cartilages to have better shape. A very small percentage of patients have very thick skin where significant modification of the tip cartilages may not make much of a different in…
Am I a candidate for a rhinoplasty?
Rhinoplasty candidate
Nov 29, 2020
If you desire a permanent change in the appearance of your nose, then rhinoplasty would be a good option for you. The fullness of your nasal tip is most commonly due to large size of the tip cartilages, but can also be due to broad curvature of the tip cartilages or overly thick nasal skin. The vast majority of patients can get a significant improvement with conservatively reducing the size of the tip cartilages and/or suturing the tip cartilages to have better shape. A very small percentage…
Can a surgeon perform rhinoplasty on just the tip, without having to break the nose? (Photos
tip rhinoplasty
Nov 29, 2020
Yes, rhinoplasty can be performed on the tip alone. The nasal bones are typically broken if a large hump is removed or if the bridge needs to be narrowed, which may not be needed in your case. Everyone has a unique nose and your surgeon will tailor your surgery to your personal goals. Asymmetries of the tip are common and can sometimes be due to long-standing septal deviation in the front of your nose (makes nostril openings appear asymmetric). Additionally, even though no bridge work may be…
Is a drainless facelift more dangerous?
facelift drains
Oct 11, 2020
This is still a debated topic among facelift surgeons. The purpose of drains is to prevent blood or body fluid from accumulating under the skin, which can lead to delayed healing, infection, or skin necrosis (all of which are uncommon). Surgeons that don’t use drains often use other methods to decrease the risk of collections under the skin including pressure dressings, fibrin glue, tranexamix acid, and many other things. There is no right or wrong answer. Drains are often uncomfortable,…
I have olive tone skin. Will a facelift leave me visible scars?
facelift scars
Oct 11, 2020
In general facelift scars are very well hidden within the folds of the ear. The only scar that may be visible is where your earlobe attaches, and possibly the upper attachment of the ear. If the scars heal well they shouldn’t be visible or if you wear your hair down. Olive skin tone has a slight increased risk of more noticeable scarring. And if you do happen to develop thick or pigmented scar tissue, this can be treated (steroid injections, laser resurfacing, IPL/BBL, etc.), which can be…
If I get a facelift and fat transfer with two different doctors, which one should I do first
facelift and fat transfer
Oct 11, 2020
Ideally, would be nice to do both at the same time. While you could do them in either order, I would recommend doing the facelift first and give it at least 6 months until the swelling settles down, preferably a year. You may get a small amount of relaxation at that point, and doing fat grafting later to volumize the cheeks will help counteract any relaxation. Plus the surgeon will have a better gauge of how how much fat to graft.

lift + chin implant
Oct 11, 2020
While you are only 40, you could get a significant benefit from both a lift and chin implant. The lift would help with the jowling and sagging skin of the neck giving you a much improved jawline and neck line. A chin implant would further improve the neck line and jawline. Additionally, you’re right, in that a stronger chin will help balance out the appearance of your nose without doing a rhinoplasty.

facelift and blepharoplasty
Oct 11, 2020
In general it doesn’t matter which one you do first, one won’t affect the other. However, if you are hoping to have them as close to one another as possible, then I’d recommend the blepharoplasty first and the facelift could be done as soon as the next day. If facelift first, then I’d wait at least a week (if not 2) to do the bleph to allow the face to heal and swelling to settle.

Facelift at 26 after massive weight loss plausible?
Facelift after weight loss
Oct 11, 2020
First, congrats on your weight loss! Can facelift help remove and tighten up the extra skin from weight loss? Yes. But in your case, you are still so young that your skin elasticity is still excellent. Your neck line and jawline look great, maybe just starting to develop some mild marionette lines/jowling. Could a facelift improve that? Sure. Would it be worth it from a cost-benefit standpoint? That’s up to you. I think you could probably go many years until you would get a significant…

Surgery price changes
Oct 11, 2020
Each practice is different in terms of how long a price quote will be honored. Most will probably honor 6-12 months, but some practices may be shorter or longer. This should be highlighted within the fee agreement provided after the consult. It is common for prices to adjust each year for inflation, which is true of any product. For surgery quotes, anesthesia and OR fees also typically change from year to year. Additionally, if demand for the surgeon increases, then they may increase their…
