Answer Snippet
Is 4 weeks long enough between ipl "treatments"?
Four weeks between IPL treatments?
Jan 25, 2013
IPL treatment generally obtains good results after 6-8 treatments spaced 4 weeks apart. Therefore, I do not believe that the timing between your treatments accounts for this discoloration. Without a picture, it is difficult to see the problem you are referring to but a medical professional would be able to examine you in person and discuss possible solutions.
A Spot Near my Daughter's Eye Turned into a Circular Hole/scar. Is There Anything I Can Put on It?
Spot near eye turned into hole
Jan 25, 2013
Without a picture, it is hard to accurately explain what might be going on but any lesion may heal with a depression in the skin, especially acne spots. It is best to have it looked at by a Facial Plastic Surgeon or Plastic Surgeon who can better explain your options for making it less noticeable.
My Husband Cut Behind His Ear, the Cut is About 3 Cm Long Does It Require Stitches?
Does cut need stitches?
Jan 25, 2013
A cut of that length should be examined by a doctor. If it is deep enough that the skin is separated, then stitches will most likely be required. It is important to keep the wound clean and covered in antibiotic ointment to prevent infection. Infection could spread to other places and prevent the wound from healing properly.
Latisse Effectiveness After Years of Use?
Latisse stopped working
Jan 25, 2013
There are no studies that demonstrate that Latisse stops working over time. Many patients have been using it since it came out with no decrease in the thickness or length of their lashes. Our lashes thin and become shorter with age but any dramatic change should be checked out by a doctor.
Why Did I Get an Indentation on Forehead After Botox?
Dent in Forehead after Botox
Jan 25, 2013
The dent in your forehead is not likely to be due to the Botox itself but rather due to the effect of Botox on the underlying muscles. Botox paralyzes the muscle, smoothing it out which may uncover underlying irregularities of the bone of the forehead. It should lessen as the Botox wears off.
I Went to Try on Wedding Dresses Two Weeks After Rhinoplasty. Can I Continue Doing So?
Wedding dress shopping after rhinoplasty
Jul 19, 2012
Wedding dress shopping is not a problem after rhinoplasty surgery but do take care not to overexert yourself soon after surgery. I understand your desire and need to find a dress and that waiting to shop will only increase your stress levels. Be careful with pulling dresses on over your head as your nose will be swollen and sore after surgery. Best of luck!
Botox After Browlift?
Botox for eyebrow lift
Jul 19, 2012
If it has been 2-3 months since your surgery, you are likely seeing your final result. It should not be a problem to do Botox around your crow's feet to get a lift of your lateral brow. It is always best to check first with your surgeon. It is recommended to use 10U per side in the crow's feet area.
3.5 Weeks Post Revision Rhino/septo, Slid Down a Few Steps, Could the Raised Blood Pressure Affect Res
Fall after rhinoplasty
Jan 25, 2012
I would not be too concerned about your fall as long as you did not hit your nose during it. The excitement and increased blood pressure may increase the swelling of the nose temporarily but should not have any permanent effect on the final result.
If the Point of Plastic Surgery is to Look Better, Should People Go to Doctors of the Opposite Sex?
Female v. Male surgeon
Jan 25, 2012
All surgeons undergo training on both male & female patients and are taught aesthetic guidelines for both sexes. Te more important consideration is the background & experience of your surgeon and whether you feel comfortable discussing your concerns with her or him. A skilled surgeon is comfortable operating on all patients.
Do I Have Open Roof Deformity?
Open roof deformity
Jan 25, 2012
It would be more helpful to go back to your surgeon or another board certified surgeon for a physical exam. The ability to see and touch your nose will provide valuable information. An open roof deformity will not affect tr shape of your tip as you described.
Where does the cartilage come from for a rhinoplasty revision for a pinched tip?
Cartilage harvesting for revision rhinoplasty
Aug 25, 2011
It is possible to add back cartilage by harvesting it from another site and replacing it in the nasal tip to change the shape or add support. Cartilage is most commonly harvested from the nasal septum, the ear, or the rib. This can be done at the same time as the nasal surgery. Using the patient's own cartilage minimizes the chance for rejection of the material and potential complications postop. This is commonly done with revision rhinoplasty when cartilage has...
Severe Headaches, Swollen Lip Since Botox 4 Days Ago. How Long Before These Decrease?
Swelling after Botox
Aug 25, 2011
It is not expected to have significant swelling after Botox, especially of the eyes or lip. If you had filler put in your upper lip, the swelling can last 3-4 days. Headaches are also not uncommon after Botox but should only last 1-2 days. I am concerned that you might be having an allergic reaction of some type and encourage you to make an appointment to discuss this with your surgeon as soon as possible.
Ulthera As an Alternative to Tradition Surgery?
Ulthera for neck improvement
Aug 25, 2011
Ulthera is a non-surgical alternative for improving the appearance of the neck but is not a replacement for standard surgical techniques. Surgery removes excess skin creating a permanent tightening that can be more dramatic than that with Ulthera. Ulthera has much less downtime than surgery but also has more subtle results so it is best to discuss this with a surgeon experienced with both.
Very Unhappy With Rib Cartilage Harvest Scar- Options?
Rib cartilage scar
Aug 25, 2011
There are many options for revising the scar and improving the appearance so there is no reason to be upset about it. Talk to your surgeon about surgically revising the scar to minimize the depression. Redness/purpleness of the scar will fade over time and can be improved with lasers. Hypertrophied scars can also be improved with lasers or steroid injections.
Can I Follow my Regular Skin Regimen After Rhinoplasty ?
Skin care after rhinoplasty
Aug 25, 2011
Checking with your surgeon is always a good idea, but moisturizer/toner/cleanser should be fine as long as you stay away from any incisions on the nose. And avoid rubbing too hard as this may cause swelling.
