I got a Zygomatic osteotomy during FFS. How long do i have to wait for Cheeks to go down?
Talk with your surgeon
Dec 16, 2019
Jyda, Thank you for your question. FFS has great variability in intensity and anticipated healing times. I have seen patients take 6-12 weeks or more for the initial swelling to settle and a full year before this is matured. This is particularly true if a lot of bone changes are made. I highly recommend you talk to your surgeon about what to expect from your specific surgery. In addition, the photos you have taken might not be representative as…
Best procedures for natural facial feminization for jewish trans woman?
Recommended approach/things to consider
Oct 3, 2019
Thank you for your question. You have nicely detailed the areas of your greatest concerns, as well as what you want to preserve. Largely, I would agree with what you have suggested for yourself. Not every FFS has to have every component, but it is important to evaluate each component and think about the implications of doing , or not doing each aspect on the balance and harmony in the rest of the face. You started hormones at a relatively young age, so your hairline…
How long should I wait to fix asymmetry and what procedures would help?
As long as you can stand to…
Oct 3, 2019
You pose a great question that is asked frequently. I think the most important thing you stated is that you love the results of your surgery. Enjoy this satisfaction as long as you can. If the picture you provided is representative, the asymmetry is well within the range of normal and looks natural. You look fantastic! Revision surgery may run the risks of giving an unnatural result or other complication and this decision should not be made without serious…
My right ear is normal and rounded where as my left is different and pointy. Is there a fix?
Ear is pointy
Jul 9, 2019
Johns,
Thank you for your question. The picture you provided does not adequately show your concern about the ear deformity. However, what I think you might have (again difficult to tell from the photo) is a Stahl’s ear. Yes there are some techniques to fix this and other similar irregular shaped ears. You want to find a surgeon who has good experience with pediatric facial plastic surgery. In the US, many of these are taken care of by pediatric…
How much of a chance is there for keloid to form after ear reduction surgery?
Unlikely, but not impossible
Nov 7, 2016
If you are considering otoplasty, but have keloids in other areas, then I would consider discussing with your surgeon the option of incisionless otoplasty. The risk is small, except in those prone to keloids, where the risk is considerably higher. A conservative setback can be accomplished without making incisions and would be a great option for someone that is at a known higher risk for keloids. If you are not otherwise at high risk, then the open approach has a greater…
Otoplasty healing process. I feel that my ears are too pinned to my head. Will they gradually move
A Natural appearing result
Nov 4, 2016
From the picture you posted, i would say, it looks like a natural result. I would be happy with that result. A more close up view would give more detail to fully evaluate. To answer your question, yes, it can spring back a bit depending on the technique used. Perhaps more importantly, is I do not see evidence of over correction in any one area of the ear. (For example too pinned back in the middle compared to the top, etc) Those types of miscorrections are more…
Can my shortened nose be made longer again, tip and hidden columella reversed back downwards? (pho
Give it more time
Oct 28, 2016
Thank you for your question. Often is the case after rhinoplasty that you start to evaluate the results as soon as the bandage comes off. The nose you have now is not going to be the nose you have in 6 months or in 1 year. If this surgery was indeed the 4th rhinoplasty and required a rib graft, you really have to wait almost 2 years before you know what it will look like in the long term.. Even then, you can continue to expect changes with age. I agree the…
What do I ask my Rhinoplasty surgeon to do to achieve the results I want?
Good eye
Oct 18, 2016
Thank you for your question. From the photos you submitted, I would say you have a good eye for what you desire and the altered image looks natural and aesthetically pleasing. The fullness in the nose above the tip is often referred to as a “polly-beak” and is most frequently seen after surgery that fails to correct the lower part of the septum. I have seen this however a number of times in people who have no had surgery before. It appears you would desire…
Can a 72 years of age MtF transsexual have facial feminisation surgery?
FFS in the aging patient
Oct 14, 2016
FelineJill, Thank you so much for this great question, and I applaud your courage for approaching this at your stage in life. I see many patients requesting facial surgery in their 70’s and it is important to note that age alone is not a risk factor. If you are otherwise healthy and have had regular checkups with no concerning findings, then you are a candidate for whatever you can afford and will help you reach your goal. If your goal is to look your age, just more…
My doctor suggested me septoplasty. But i also want to make my nose well shaped do I need Rhinopla
Rhinoplasty will change the shape of the nose
Oct 14, 2016
Sam998, thank you for your question. 99% of the time, a “septoplasty” should have little to no change in the appearance of the nose. If you desire a specific change in appearance, then yes, you will need a “rhinoplasty” to achieve this. To accomplish both, the terms are often combined as “septorhinoplasty.” For hump reduction, there is some need to rasp or even break bones and sometimes reducing the appearance of the hump is accomplished by changing the shape of…
