Based on the Photos Below, What Kind of Surgery/treatment Would Give Me the Best Results?
Crooked nose
Aug 13, 2012
It is difficult to assess your septum based on your photographs, but it does appear that your crooked nose is due mainly to your external nasal cartilaginous framework. Having a previous septoplasty does make things a little more difficult for future rhinoplasty as you may be lacking septal cartilage which is used for grafting during rhinoplasty. Ear cartilage may be necessary to provide the result you desire.
Can I Have a Facelift if I Am Fat?
Facelift if I'm Fat?
Aug 6, 2012
A facelift can be performed on someone who is overweight. It appears that your weight has plateaued for some time now and you are staying healthy with diet and exercise. The overall result of your neck after a facelift or face and neck lift will also greatly depend on your neck anatomy and location of bony/cartilaginous structures. You will likely require significant contouring with liposuction. Seek a facelift specialist for a complete evaluation and treatment plan....
Facelift Before, During or After Rhinoplasty?
Combining a facelift and rhinoplasty
Aug 6, 2012
Combining a facelift and rhinoplasty is feasible and something I have performed in the past multiple times. However, it is possible to separate these procedures and it truly does not matter which one comes first. I would recommend you address the aspect of your face that bothers you most (nose or jowls/neck) first. Either way, these are both procedures that will provide you with great satisfaction and enjoyment. I have attached a video of a patient whom I performed...
Wide Nose with Saggy Nostrils. What Should Be Done?
Improving the wide nose
Oct 27, 2011
Rhinoplasty or nose job to improve the widened nose is commonly performed. Additional images would help, however, based on your frontal view, it appears you have an ill-defined nasal tip which would benefit from refinement. In addition, dorsal augmentation or building up the bridge of your nose using septal cartilage or ear cartilage would provide a more aesthetic appearance. Seek a rhinoplasty expert for full consultation.
Is It Possible to Reduce Nostril Flare with Internal Excisions?
Alar base reduction in rhinoplasty or nose job
Oct 27, 2011
Based on your photographs, it appears you have a widened base of the nose and wide cartilage. You would benefit from bringing in the base of the nose with wedge excisions. This does require incisions on the outside of the nose. However, with proper technique & placement along with meticulous closure, your scars should be nearly invisible. You would also benefit from refinement of your nasal tip and increasing the tip projection (which would also bring in the base).
What Procedures Do I Need to Have Done to Look Like This?
rhinoplasty nose job
Oct 25, 2011
It seems you would benefit from rhinoplasty or a nose job to improve the appearance of your face and allow observers to concentrate on the features you want them to see...your hair, lips, and eyes. Your nose is currently detracting from these features and should simply blend into your face and be somewhat invisible...the ultimate goal of cosmetic rhinoplasty.
How Hard Would It Be to Fix a Nasal Valve Collapse That Has Already Been Done with Spreader Grafts?
Spreader graft for valve collapse in rhinoplasty
Oct 25, 2011
It is possible that the spreader graft resorbed or you need a larger one. It is also possible that you need an alar batten or strut graft to improve your EXTERNAL nasal valve as the spreader graft only improves the INTERNAL nasal valve. I would need a full history and exam to better assess though.
How Do I Minimize Bruising from a Rhinoplasty?
Bruising from rhinoplasty or nose job
Oct 23, 2011
Bruising can occur from rhinoplasty or a nose job under and around the eyes. This is especially true if the nasal bones are fractured. However, some patients may not bruise at all. Most bruising will resolve within 3-7 days if present. Arnica tablets before and after surgery might help as do cold compresses post operatively. Warm compresses will help 3-4 days after surgery.
Will my Doctor Break my Nose During a Rhinoplasty?
Does the nose have to be broken during rhinoplasty?
Oct 23, 2011
Breaking the nasal bones, or controlled infracturing, during rhinoplasty is a delicate and refined technique to narrow the bridge of the nose. If a large hump is taken down, the bridge may look like the top of an aircraft carrier. The nasal bones then need to be brought in to round off the edges. This creates a more refined and natural appearance.
Rhinoplasty Recovery Time + Downtime
Rhinoplasty or nose job downtime and recovery
Oct 8, 2011
Downtime for Rhinoplasty or nose job surgery is somewhat subjective. I have had patients that are back to work after 5-6 days and some that need 2 weeks. I inform my patients that 7-10 days are typically required. The first few days after rhinoplasty are uncomfortable but by day 4, you are feeling much better. You are social by day 8 and able to go out in public. Bruising and swelling, if any, should have resolved by this point. I typically have patients...
How Much Does Rhinoplasty Cost?
Cost of rhinoplasty or nose job
Oct 8, 2011
The cost of rhinoplasty or a nose job is subjective. If you have functional or breathing issues, insurance may pay for a good portion of your procedures such as septoplasty, valve work, or the turbinates. The cosmetic fees for rhinoplasty vary from surgeon to surgeon and can be dependent on the degree of difficulty of your surgery.
What is a Non Surgical Nose Job
Non-surgical Nose Job
Oct 8, 2011
A non-surgical nose job is one in which changes are made to the shape of the nose without any incisions but with injecting fillers. Typically fillers such as Restylane or Radiesse are used to change the shape of the nose. It is important to note that this is a temporary solution as the fillers will dissipate after 9-12 months. It will also not assist with breathing in anyway and can be a detriment for future surgery as the filler creates a scar between the skin and the...
When Choosing Rhinoplasty Surgeon, How Many Rhinoplasties Per Year Is Ideal for a Reputable Surgeon?
Rhinoplasty surgeon
Sep 24, 2011
Excellent question. It is important to choose a surgeon with rhinoplasty experience, knowledge, and expertise. The American Society of Plastic Surgeons states that the average amount of rhinoplasties per year are 11 per surgeon. It is also important to choose a surgeon who understands and respects not only the cosmetic external anatomy, but also the internal functional anatomy of the nose. The nasal airway must be maintained or improved during rhinoplasty surgery....
Can Visible Browlift Scars Be Treated?
Scar revision after browlift
Sep 24, 2011
Revising a browlift scar can be difficult but not impossible. Your scars appearance can be improved with a scar revision using the trichophytic approach allowing the root hairs to grow through the scar itself.
Is 14 Years Old Too Young to Get Nose Surgery?
Age for rhinoplasty or nose job
Aug 30, 2011
The nose, specifically the septum (the wall that separates the two sides of the nose) serves as the focal point or center for midfacial growth. Prematurely disturbing this growth center could lead to abnormal development of the face. Therefore, it is essential that a qualified surgeon evaluate your facial growth and assure that it is an appropriate time to consider a rhinoplasty. Most teenage girls can have rhinoplasty approximately one year after their menarche (first menstrual period)....
