Intraoperative Photos
Feb 22, 2019
Great question! Photos in the operating room are helpful, however, there are factors that we must keep in mind about intraoperative photos. The amount of swelling and the subsequent shape of the nose is affected by the amount of local anesthetic that has been injected in the nose and the duration of operative time. Obvious changes such as reduction of a substantial hump can be noted on intra-operative photos, however smaller refining maneuvers can be difficult to accurately gauge in these…
Is this a realistic outcome for me if I undergo a closed rhinoplasty surgery?
Rhinoplasty
Feb 22, 2019
Hi, thanks for the photos. It’s great that you know what you want! I think you would be a great candidate for a rhinoplasty based on your photos. There are two main surgery styles for rhinoplasty, closed and open. Each have their own benefits, precision being a huge benefit for open surgery. I would suggest talking with a board certified facial plastic surgeon to develop an individualized plan for you and then decide which type of rhinoplasty would be best suited for you. Additionally, I a…
Will my pig nose and high nose tip change?
Rhinoplasty Swelling
Feb 22, 2019
Don’t fret! A nose takes at least one year to heal following a rhinoplasty. At 11 days post-op, your nose will still be quite swollen. I know that being patient is easier said than done, but the best course right now really is to give it some time to settle. However, it is important to keep in touch with your surgeon throughout your healing process and let him or her know of your concerns. I often find that speaking with your doctor and having more information helps assuage anxieties. …
Can I elongate my chin more? Which fillers shall I do?
Chin augemntation
Jun 25, 2018
Hi, thanks for your photos. Chin augmentation with filler is certainly an option to elongate your face and improve facial symmetry. The duration of the “effect” depends on the type filler that is used. For the chin and jawline, I’d recommend Voluma, Sculptra, or Restylane Lyft. Keep in mind that filler is temporary and if you like the results you may want to consider a custom chin implant, or perhaps start with an implant straight off the bat. Surgical chin augmentation will give…

Rhinoplasty Healing
Jun 25, 2018
Easier said than done, but don’t stress. Time is key in assessing rhinoplasty results and you can’t rush time. You’d be amazed at how the nose heals in subtle ways over the course of the year.

Rhinoplasty recovery
Jun 20, 2018
Hi, I understand your frustration and, because you are frustrated, it is extremely important to communicate with your surgeon and to discuss your exam and your options. The nose takes at least one year to heal and declare itself following rhinoplasty and things can move, shift, heal differently throughout that time period. As Dr. Ward mentioned, it can be a bone dust/chip or soft tissue swelling. It can be a suture that is dissolving or cartilage that’s healing. There are many different…

Post-Op Rhinoplasty
Jun 20, 2018
Hi, it is very difficult to tell from this photo but sometimes a surgeon will place material in the nose after rhinopalsty (different types of material that vary from stents to packing to hemostatic agents), and will remove these in the office during your post-op visit. Light bleeding or blood stained secretions following rhinoplasty is normal. Bright red bleeding that is brisk and does not stop warrants medical attention.

Reaction to pierceings
Jun 19, 2018
Hi, thanks for your photos. And don’t worry, they are not gross 😉 Given that there are similar reactions to both earrings, it is likely your ear reacting to these particular piercings and/or the material. You might also have similar reactions to future piercings. Piercing the cartilage causes inflammation (a reactive process) and sometimes that inflammation can cause scarring or tissue hypertrophy. Without seeing it in person or knowing the timeframe, I can’t tell…
Nose/chin recommendations, want to get a rhinoplasty, but is it worth it?
Treatment of Lower Face
Jun 19, 2018
Hello! Thanks for the photos. When we look at the profile, we break it down into the upper, middle, and lower segments of your face and then we assess how all of those segments fit together. I think the major issue with the overall profile is the contribution of the lower part of the face (chin and neck). In my opinion, if you increased the projection of your chin (chin augmentation), and improved the contour of your jawline and the angle where your neck meets the area beneath your chin…

Noses take time
Jun 11, 2018
Hi Minnie,
I’m sure its frustrating to hear all of us docs say “give it time!” In a way, that discounts how you are actually feeling, and that’s not what we are here to do. So what I would say is give both yourself and your nose time (as weird as that sounds?). As others have said, the nose takes a looooooooong time to heal and settle. Just like a house takes time to settle into its foundation. It really will take months for it to declare itself and then you can re-examine and say “ok,…

Botox and flushing
Apr 20, 2018
Hi, hopefully by now you are feeling better! Botox injected into the masseter muscle should act on the muscle fibers it was injected into- it would not diffuse across the face.
Best wishes!
Who, in Florida, is the best oculoplastic surgeon for brow lifts. Especially endoscopic brow lifts
Brow Lift
Nov 8, 2017
Drs. Prendiville, Dominic and Clevens are all correct. Where in Florida are you located? There are many different brow lift techniques and there are several highly qualified surgeons in Florida, some of whom are experts in endoscopic brow lifting. Facial plastic surgeons are capable of performing this procedure if they have been appropriately trained and are board certified. The primary questions you will want to ask your surgeon are: 1) Which method of…
