Hi Ashley,From your photos, you appear to be a good candidate for alar base reduction (nostril narrowing) without a full rhinoplasty. It can be done as an office procedure under local anesthesia, but make sure you find someone that can show you before and after photos of ethnic noses that have had alar base reductions. You should certainly seek out a surgeon whose artistry is apparent in their work. Rhinoplasty is the most complex procedure in plastic surgery. In your case, more photo angles would be required to see if osteotomies (breaking of the nose) could be avoided. Most cases do require osteotomies, so you shouldn’t base your decision on that one factor.

There are many challenging techniques and maneuvers required during rhinoplasty surgery. There are too many to list here. A surgeon should have multiple tools in their toolbox to achieve the goals of the surgery. In general, revisions on noses that have been severely compromised in form and function require multiple challenging techniques such as those requiring rib cartilage for example.
