Answer Snippet
Do I need Chin Liposuction or Neck Lift?
Chin lipo or neck lift
Nov 12, 2021
It appears that you have a congenitally small chin and perhaps malocclusion issues. Certainly a neck lift with a chin implant will give you the most dramatic result but at 25 you might try the chin and neck lipo to see if this gives you what you want. Could always do the neck lift in the future. Sometimes less is Best!
Are chin implants recommended for young patients?
Chin implant in twenties
Nov 12, 2021
We do chin implants on many young patients for microgenia. Very frequently combined with rhinoplasty to help improve their profiles. I would not recommend either procedure for pre puberty patients. Chin implants if placed properly should last a lift time and not shift. I prefer solid silicon implants place through a submental incision. Many patient can also benefit with some submental liposuction which can easily be performed through the same incision. In my mind, Chin implant is perhaps the...
Can I get a chin implant with Novocaine only?
Chin Implant under Local
Nov 12, 2021
Yes. Especially is you are motivated to avoid anesthesia. We do this frequently. Once the mental nerves are blocked, it is easy to anesthesitize the chin and perform the surgery. I recommend a submental approach as opposed to intraoral. Better visulization to place implant is proper position. Also many patients need liposuction of the neck which can be done through the same incision. Also under local. Good luck!
Third revision only for open roof deformity using grafts?
Open Roof after rhinoplasty
Nov 12, 2021
Why not try filler rhinoplasty. You have very thin skin and a cartilage graft might be quite visible.Another alternative is a facial graft which can fill but is soft but does require another trip to the OR.Good Luck.
Nasopharyngeal covid-19 swab test after Rhinoplasty. Will it have any effect on the surgery outcome?
Covid Test after Rhinoplasty
Nov 12, 2021
The short answer is no. However your nose will be swollen internally and sensitive so the Covid Test should be administer gently and with out trauma. Good Luck!
Nasal valve collapse: breathing difficulty and asymmetry. Can this be corrected?
Collapsed Nasal Valve
Nov 12, 2021
Cartilage grafting is the most traditional and time honored technique for correcting nasal valve collapse or insufficiency and is effective in improving the breathing in most cases. The depression in the nasal valve should improve as well but often need secondary improvement with injections. This is a common problem often overlooked by many rhinoplastic surgeons. Good luck.
Does a facelift limit the range of your facial expressions?
Facial expressions following facelifting.
Nov 5, 2021
In General, facelifting should not have any long term effect on facial expression. Of course, there is temporary effects due to swelling but these should resolve by 4-6 weeks. Many times the "sad " expression around the mouth can be improved with less aggressive procedures such as botox and fillers. Threadlifts can also be a consideration. I always suggest trying the least invasive procedure first before pulling our the "big guns" Hope this is helpful.Steve Hopping,MD, FACS
Facelift: is a submandibular gland reduction safe?
Submandibular gland removal?
Nov 5, 2021
The submandibular glands are one your major salivary glands. I do not like removing submandibular glands during face lift except in extreme circumstances. I prefer to tighten the overlying platysma muscles and "suspend" the glands thereby reducing their aesthetic prominence. Hope that helps.
I had nose surgery and my nose tip continued growing, I have thick and olive skin on nose, is Depome
Steriod injections post rhinoplasty
Oct 29, 2021
Judicial use of steriod injection post rhinoplasty can often help reduce swelling and more importantly scar tissue. I find them especially helpful for thicker skin patients.Yes you are a good candidate for malar augmentation. Medpor ok but I prefer solid silicon implants.
Is it possible to shave uneven cartilage under local anesthesia?
Dear mimii90
Oct 26, 2021
This is actually a tough problem to correct. It appears that your septum is off to the right . Injections could help but wont be perfect. Worth a try.
What would you suggest for rhinoplasty?
Dear Sapphsapph99 in Gloucester
Oct 26, 2021
I agree that you have too much collumella show especially when you smile. This can be easily corrected with shortening of your caudel septum. Your nose would look less long especially when yousmile. Darkness under the eyes is often inherited. Tough to completely resolve but can be helped with peels, light laser rx, or nanofat injection. Hope this helps.
Would my moon-shaped lower face benefit more from a chin reduction and/or a rhinoplasty?
Dear Kindness123
Oct 26, 2021
Honestly, it is difficult to answer your question with the limited exposure of your two photos.I really dont think you have a "witch" face. You have many good features. Your nose looks fine. Not much to change. Perhaps reducing your chin would help your profile but that can be a complicated procedure involving bone osteotomies etc. Hope this helps.
Is this swelling or open roof deformity 7 months after my closed rhinoplasty?
Dear 7 month post op
Oct 26, 2021
Yes, you do have significant swelling for 7 month.I recommend direct injections of hyaluronidase and in tough cases dilutes steriod to help reduce swelling and scar tissue. Talk to your operating surgeon.
How much would it cost if I get rhinoplasty and do I need open or closed rhinoplasty?
You have what I call a "minimal deformity" rhinoplasty.
May 8, 2020
By that I mean the major improvement will come with taking away your dosal prominence or "hump"
Your tip is not complicated and can be refined with either an open or closed approach.
I would recommend a closed approach because of your scarring history.
What type of thread lift is best for early stages of jowls?
Tread lifting for early jowling.
Mar 23, 2020
In my opinion, early jowling as you describe is a great indication for thread lifting. I prefer the bidirectional novothreads (pdo) and have many happy patients with this technique. The beauty is that the procedure can be performed under local anesthesia with usually minimal bruising and a weekend recovery. Results last from 1-2 years although many patients return earlier for an "enhancement" of their results.
