I need to find a surgeon who is familiar with Poland syndrome in the Philadelphia area.
Polands Syndrome in Philadelphia
Nov 12, 2015
You are fortunate to have one of the best chiildren’s hospitals in teh world in Phiadelphia. Call the Department of Plastic Surgery at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and ask for the pediatric plastic surgeon who specializes in Poland’s Syndrome. If you are over 21, ask them for the best person at the Hospital University of Pennsylvania Dept Plastic Surgery. The surgeons are in the same practice, the only difference is where they would do your surgery based on your age.
Do you have to pay for a consultation in order to get a rhinoplasty?
Should I pay for consult
Nov 4, 2015
Full disclosure, I charge for a cosmetic consultation ($130). The reason I charge is that I will spend as much time as needed with the patient to help them make the best decision for themselves. I do not sell, push, or “close the deal.” You pay for an honest medical opinion based on your goals, anatomy, and ability to recover. To me that honest information is valuable. If a patient would like to schedule a second appt, I do not charge for subsequent follow up appts.. If they ened up…

Which surgeon
Nov 4, 2015
Good surgeons are good surgeons. There is no substitute for 18 years of experience if the surgeon is well respected and gets good results. If he is a plastic surgeon with 18 years under his belt, he has probably done more rhinoplasties than the other younger surgeon who specializes in the face.Look at your plastic surgeon’s nose results rather than the reviews. If he is good, he probably does not solicit reviews because he does not need to. However, I am sure he has many before and…
How much difference is this in mm between these two chin pictures?
Chin advancement
Oct 29, 2015
It appears this would be about a 6-8mm advancement. Preoperative imaging will be able to accurately apply a mm measuring tool to the before and after images to accurately determine the difference.
I had a chin reduction a year ago, and now I regret it. Can it be reversed?
Chin revision
Oct 29, 2015
Yes, this can be reversed. It appears the chin has been inadvertantly elongated as well as set back. Through thee same incision, the plate can be removed and the chin repositioned.
Is there a San Diego area Dr. that has references for cleft chin reduction via the inside of the m
chin surgery in San Diego
Oct 29, 2015
I would recommend Dr Steven Cohen for chin surgery in San Diego. he is a craniofacial surgeon who also practices cosmetic surgery and will b able to provid a sophisticated analysis.

Eyelid revision

I would recommend Dr Mark Codner in Atlanta. He has published a trextbook that is highly acclaimed and has a lot of experience in complex lid surgery.
Crooked nose bridge, is it fixable?
Correction of nasal asymmetry
May 29, 2015
Correcting asymmetry of the nose and improving nasal proportion are certainly achievable goals in rhinoplasty surgery. During your consultation, you will see the anatomy contributing to your condition and diagramtically how the correction will be achieved. Also, pre-operative imaging can be performed to allow you to clarify your surgical goals and see your projected result.
Can prior Septoplasty effect my Rhinoplasty?
Effect of previous septoplasty on rhinoplasty
Sep 16, 2014
It depends on what is necessary to schieve your goals in the rhinoplasty. Occasionally septal cartilage is necessary to create the desired look for a patient. If this is the case, septal cartilage is a good first choice. Given you have had a previous septoplasty, sufficient cartilage may not be avialable from this site, and another site may be used. If no cartilage grafts are necessary to achieve your desired result, a rhinoplasty should not affect the septoplasty itself. If narrowing of…
How long must I wait after Rhinoplasty to have my Bullhorn upper lip lift?
Wait for lip lift
Sep 9, 2014
In my practice, I typically would wait 6 months to let the wound healing occur after rhinoplasty if you are doing a staged approach. I also think it would be reasonable to combine them if you have the ability to do that.
Torn between Rhinoplasty and Jaw Augmentation. What could be done to improve the look of my nose?
Chin vs nose
Sep 9, 2014
Based on your photos, I think a chin advancment would have a large impact on your nose in that it would appear smaller. I would recommend going to a surgeon who can do a prediction image on the computer to help you see the effects of a chin advancement.
Timing For Rhinoplasty?
Timing and coordination of rhinoplasty
Nov 14, 2012
The first step is to find a surgeon with whom you feel confident and comfortable. If you can clearly identify realistic goals and the surgeon feels comfortable with your goals, you could move towards surgery relatively rapidly. The earlier you can let a surgeon know you would like to schedule surgery, the better your choices in terms of days and times. I agree that it may be harder to get the ideal date and time with a busy surgeon, but busy surgeons are used to being busy and…
Is There a Specific Model of a Nose That is Followed for Rhinoplasty?
Is there an ideal model of a nose?
Nov 13, 2012
There are standard canons of nasal beauty and ideal aesthetics. That said, not everyone finds these dimesnions ideal for their particluar face. Typically the ideal dimensions are discussed and incorporated with the patients personal desires to develop a treatment plan. This proposed plan can then be digitally created from the patients’s photo to ensure the patient likes the proposed result. In summary, there is no one model nose that a rhinoplasty surgeons uses. …
Cheek Implants or Permanent Filler – How Do I Decide?
Filler vs Implants in the face
Nov 12, 2012
The decision on whether to use a soft tissue filler or a solid implant for volume augmentaiton of the face is purely based on whether the problem is related to skeletal underdevelopment (hypoplasia) or soft tissue deficiency. The former may treated with an implant and the latter with a soft tissue filler. However, the surgeon needs to be aware of the patient’s goals and recovery. The patient may choose to use a filler to correct a skeletal problem to have a faster reovery but a…
Cheek Implants. Do They Require Replacements? Risks?
Longevity of cheek implants
Nov 12, 2012
Cheek implants made of polyethylene (a solid material) will not degrade over time. If they are secured with screws, they will not migrate either. Although the implant will not change, your facial soft tissue will age the change in soft tissue overlying the implant may cause a chnage in facial appearance with age. These volume changes can be treated with fillers, fat grafting, or surgical repositioning of the tissues.
