Am I a good candidate for a rhinoplasty to give me a more feminine look?
Feminine Rhinoplasty
Jun 1, 2018
Dear Livinglovely,It appears and sounds like you would be an ideal candidate for rhinoplasty. Rhinoplasty done right should go a long way toward your goals of a more feminine nose, that is smaller, and less wide at the tip and across the nostrils. Morevoer, when it is done right your nose will no longer droop. We would encourage you to see rhinoplasty specialists who will do computer imaging to make sure you are accomplishing the aesthetic you want. All the best
Do I need a nose job or just nasal tip surgery?
Nose job
May 31, 2018
Dear Larnav,On front view it appears like your nose is a bit crooked and skews toward your right. During your consultation your surgeon should assess if your septum is crooked, whether you have any breathing issues, and discuss your aesthetic goals. On profile, it appears like your tip drops when you smile causing it to appear like your bridge is a bit high. In general, we would likely recommend you have a rhinoplasty and not just tip surgery- however as always this will largely depend on…
How soon before rhinoplasty should I plan to remove my septum piercing?
Septal Piercing
May 31, 2018
Hi Peachyfox,It really does not matter when you remove the piercing before surgery as it is unlikely to close before surgery on its own. More likely, during the surgery the surgeon will end up closing the hole depending on the procedure you are having. Beyond that it is unlikely to be a source of infection or irritation since it has been in place for years and because the hole is so anterior. You may experience some whistling sounds while breathing once the piercing is removed based on the…
How can my crooked tip be fixed?
Crooked Tip
May 31, 2018
Dear Beni,Based on the pictures it looks like your entire tip is crooked and twisting. As a result the right nostril looks more turned up than the left which likely makes your nose looked notched on right profile. Moreover, your nostrils are asymettric in size likely because your septum is drooked and your columella (the center wall between your nostrils) is crooked. Beyond that your nostrils are relatively flared. Consultations and surgery with rhinoplasty specialists will help you…
Revision with fat grafting enough to build bridge and correct deformities?
Revision Rhinoplasty
Apr 23, 2018
Thank you for expressing your concerns. When the bridge is scooped out too drastically, it leads to an imbalanced facial profile, and in your case an inverted V deformity. It is important to understand that this often casues not only an aesthetic issue but also functional breathing problems. To correct the bridge’s structure, the bridge often needs to be restored with intricate cartilage grafts, among other techniques. Once normal structures are damaged, cartilage must be extracted from the…
In my early 60’s, am I too old for a revision rhinoplasty for an over rotated nose?
Revision Rhinoplasty
Apr 23, 2018
Your concern is a very valid one and this is a very good question. As we all age, portions of our rib cartilage do calcify and become much more like bone and as a result are less than ideal as a source of cartilage for nasal surgery. If a surgeon were to start your procedure and find that your rib cartilage is calcified, you will have undergone an unnecessary procedure that leaves a scar and can be quite painful for some time as you heal. Moreover, during the procedure your surgeon would…
If I got nothing left inside my nose is it still considered revision rhinoplasty? Or is just call r
Revision Rhinoplasty
Apr 23, 2018
Thank you for sharing your concerns. Since you’ve undergone a rhinoplasty procedure in the past, any nasal related surgery to follow is considered revision rhinoplasty and is technically more complex to perform – so much of the nasal structure has already been altered. I recommend visiting a board-certified facial plastic surgeon with a special focus on revision rhinoplasty to make sure it will be done well this time and you will not need any corrective surgeries in the future.

Revision Rhinoplasty
Apr 23, 2018
Thank you for your question. While it’s common for clients to seek cosmetic treatment in close proximity to their home, broadening your search may result in a more desirable outcome. Due to the complex nature of revision rhinoplasty, it’s important to find a doctor, or team of surgical specialists who have successfully performed many of these procedures. I recommend doing research and looking for the best board-certified facial plastic surgeon you can find. By scheduling a consultation with…
Options for correcting sunken upper nasal bone in 2nd revision?
Revision Rhinoplasty
Apr 23, 2018
I’m sorry that you these complications from your rhinoplasty. Without seeing you in person or at least seeing pictures it is difficult to assess what would be the best course of treatment.  Achieving a completely straight nose is one of the most complex surgeries in revision rhinoplasty. In my experience, it may be that you need a spreader graft to help reposition the mid-vault as well as to support the nasal bone on the collapsed side. Occasionally, one can camouflage the defect with a …
Rhinoplasty and osteotomy, what do you suggest?
Rhinoplasty
Apr 23, 2018
Dear Venus.megs,
Based on the picture and your question it seems you have a very good sense of the issues you have with your nose. The next step would be to see a few rhinoplasty specialists to discuss your goals, the changes you want to see, and hear them answer how they would achieve those goals. In our own practice we find it highly useful to do computer imaging so that we are sure that what we are hearing our patients say is their goals, is what we are showing them in the imaged views….
Would a non surgical rhinoplasty work for prominent nostrils and bridge of nose?
Non surgical rhinoplasty is an augmenting procedure
Apr 23, 2018
Dear Avocado,Nonsurgical rhinoplasty can be very good for correcting minor irregularities as well as for making a crooked nose look straighter by making it wider or making the nose look less hooked by building it up. However, to your specific question, it would not reduce you nostril show and typically makes the nose look more prominent.Based onyour picture, I would sayyou have a tension septum and if you were to choose to do a rhinoplasty with a rhinoplasty expert, in our experience you…
Is it normal to still have a dorsal hump one month post rhinoplasty?
It is early but unlikely to give you a curved shape
Apr 17, 2018
The skin overlying the bony dorm/ bridge is relatively thin and usually contracts relatively quickly. The small bump you are still seeing is likely going to settle down over time to give you a straight profile but if you were looking to achieve a softer profile with a supratip break or hint of concavity we would be surprised if it got there
Can swelling hide results of an alarplasty?
Normal swelling
Mar 7, 2018
Estesan it is very typical for your nostrils to look relatively similar after you first have surgery, especially if you were not looking for a serious change. Over time this swelling should reduce and you should see the change you were expecting
All the best
Am I a good candidate for rhinoplasty?
You may do well with a bit of rotation without shortening
Aug 15, 2017
Dear AS84,On front view it looks like you are a bit crooked with the right tip leaning down more than the right. You can also see that on the profile views were the right side leans down more. You may find a little projection with rotation of the tip a little can go a long way in creating the sense of a shortened nose that suits you more without actually shortening your nose. Of course, when you meet with a rhinoplasty surgeon they can more fully discuss these issues and ideally do computer…
Is my nose too upturned?
If you are unhappy with the look it does not hurt to go in for a consult
Feb 24, 2017
Dear Bree,Our advice is it is always worth while to go in and see a rhinoplasty specialist to discuss your concerns.  A good rhinoplasty surgeon will meet with you and go over your concerns and can do computer imaging with you to show you what is possible and what the risk/ benefits to surgery would be.There is not necessarily a perfect nose, or the right nose, but it needs to look right for you. All the best,Peyman Solieman, MD
