Nose is starting to get crooked after rhinoseptoplasty
rhinoplasty, septoplasty, septorhinoplasty, nasal surgery
Mar 5, 2017
Its too early to determine the final outcome on your septorhinoplasty. There is still significant swelling that will improve over the next several months. Hope this helps.
Septum still not straight
septoplasty, rhinoplasty, breathing, turbinate reduction
Feb 23, 2017
Thanks for the question. Usually you should have some improvement a month out from septoplasty. However, there could be other factors as well such as allergies, inflammation etc. I would go back to your surgeon so they can look with a camera to see if there is any residual anatomic obstruction or if you need to put on some nasal sprays to help with the obstruction. Good luck!
Having a breathing problem even after septoplasty?
septoplasty, nasal valve repair, turbinate reduction, revision septoplasty, rhinoplasty
Feb 8, 2016
There are multiple reasons why people can have persistent breathing problems after a septoplasty. Those causes could be from medical reasons (could have history of allergic rhinitis or medication use – too much Afrin), to structural problems such as a persistent deviated septum or collapse of the nasal valve. I would recommend seeing an experienced board-certified surgeon who has experience with functional septo-rhinoplasty.
Will my insurance cover a nose job if I’m having trouble breathing because of how big the tip of my
septoplasty, nasal valve repair, turbinate reduction, revision septoplasty, rhinoplasty
Feb 8, 2016
This is a difficult question as there are many factors as to why you may not be able to breathe through your nose. Some of the more common reasons include deviated septum, nasal valve collapse (narrow nose on the inside), enlarged turbinates. Insurance companies will cover certain surgeries with the nose depending on the source of the nasal obstruction. I would recommend you see a board-certified surgeon experienced in dealing with functional as well as cosmetic rhinoplasty.
Should I get a septoplasty?
deviated septum,
Feb 3, 2016
Septoplasty is a procedure to correct a deviated septum. It can be performed through a closed or an open approach. In order to tell if you have a deviated septum an internal exam of the nose needs to be performed with a small nasal speculum. Other issues that can cause nasal airway obstruction such as nasal valve collapse can be assessed at that time as well.
Does septoplasty change a droopy nose on the outside?
Septoplasty, rhinoplasty, crooked nose
Feb 3, 2016
Usually a septoplasty is unlikely to change a droopy nose unless it involves the very front end of the septum. Usually treatment of the droopy nose involves a rhinoplasty approach.
Can a septum sag a few months after a Septoplasty?
septoplasty, nasal valve repair, turbinate reduction, revision septoplasty
Dec 20, 2015
There are multiple possibilities as to why you are having nasal airway obstruction after a septoplasty. Potential things could be collapse of the nasal valve (the cartilages that make up the tip of your nose), large inferior turbinates, underlying medical issues such as allergic rhinitis or sinusitis. I would recommend seeing an experienced fellowship trained facial plastic surgeon with an otolaryngology (ear, nose, throat) background to help evaluate you.
Will I be able to get my keloid removed ? Will surgery be a must ? And how old will I have to be ? (
Keloid, scar revision, scar removal, steroid injection
Dec 20, 2015
Keloid treatment can be both surgical and non-surgical. Surgical options include removal of the keloid with careful closure with post-operative medical therapy such as steroid injections. Other options include steroid injections to soften the keloid or other treatments such as cryotherapy. I would recommend you see an experienced plastic/facial plastic surgeon and/or dermatologist to guide you with what treatment would be best for your particular keloid.
Seek a doctor? Wait it out? Not sure what to do
broken nose, septal fracture, septal deviation, nasal trauma
Dec 6, 2015
I would recommend you get examined by an Ear Nose Throat Surgeon (otolaryngologist) or Facial Plastic Surgeon as soon as possible as you may have a collection of blood or a hematoma in your septum and /or nasal or septal fracture. Good luck and all the best.
Nose surgery and pectus excavatum?
anesthesia, rhinoplasty, nasal surgery, broken nose
Dec 6, 2015
While the medical conditions you mentioned don’t seem to be contraindications to undergoing a general anesthesia I would consult with your surgeon and your anesthesiologist pre-operatively to discuss your concerns so they can go over the risks and benefits in your particular case. Good luck!
Facial nerve & muscle weakness. Can I get a facelift or midface lift?
facelift, facial weakness, facial paralysis, weak nerves and muscles
Dec 6, 2015
Before you have a facelift I would consult with an otolaryngologist and/or neurologist to rule out the etiology of the weakness. If they believe it is truly a Bell’s Palsy (in other words they ruled out any other treatable or reversible causes) you would be an appropriate candidate for a facelift. Usually the procedure can help with some of the asymmetry at rest, but will not change the weakness when smiling or any dynamic motion of your face. I would see an experienced facial plastic/…
Botox to correct residual effects of Bells Palsy?
Facial paralysis, bells palsy, botox, blepharospasm, synkinesis
Dec 6, 2015
Botox is a commonly used medication for the treatment of facial paralysis. It can help treat the unaffected side by creating symmetry with the affected side. It can also be used to help with abnormal muscle spasms (blepharospasm or synkinesis). I would advise you to go to an experienced facial plastic surgeon particularly at a high volume facial nerve center. Please see attached article on the website below our group published on this treatment.
Botox side effects?
botox, complications, excess skin, eyebrow, forehead
Dec 6, 2015
It is likely just a coincidence if you have not had complications with botox before. Complications are generally very rare with Botox however can occur. I would see your doctor to make sure they can advise you further for future use.
Can Botox lift excess skin around my eyes, especially in the inner corner, to make them look more op
blepharoplasty, botox, eyebrow, excess skin
Dec 6, 2015
In general, botox, if administered correctly, can lift the outer corner of the eyebrow which is desirable in most situations. The inner part is usually not affected although subtle changes can occur. Usually a blepharoplasty or removal of excess skin of the upper eyelid is necessary for the desired results.
What is the difference between open and closed rhinoplasty?
closed rhinoplasty, comparision, open rhinoplasty, septoplasty
Nov 30, 2015
An open rhinoplasty involves a single incision on the “outside” skin of your nose – which is a very small incision at the narrowest part of the tissue that divides your nostrils (your columella). The rest of the incisions are on the inside. A closed or endonasal rhinoplasty only has incisions on the inside of the nose.with no outside skin incision. In reality, the very small outside skin incision is rarely noticeable if sutured appropriately. Both techiques have their advantages and…
