I feel like my nose is pointy and long. I just want the tip to be less pointy and not be as harsh o
pointy tip?
Aug 16, 2017
It is difficult to give you precise recommendations on what would need to be done to improve the appearance of your nose with the angles you have presented on these photos. That said, a long nose is usually due to a lack of definition between the dorsum and the tip which can be created by reducing the height of the cartilage and bone of the dorsum and then manipulating the tip so that it is in proper proportion, projection, and rotation relative to the rest of your nose and face.
I’m mid-30s considering rhinoplasty. I’ve never liked my profile.
hump reduction
Aug 16, 2017
Given your concern about overdoing your nose you could have a hump reduction and narrowing alone with minimal manipulation to your tip and get a very natural and appealing result. Your tip looks pretty good, but if you want to get picky about it, then refining the tip can be accomplished at the same time. Care must be taken to insure the result does not look “done”. Make sure you know what you want before you go see someone so you don’t get talked into something you really don’t want.
I’m super confused RE: septorhinoplasty infection prevention? I often suffer from impetigo, cystiti
infections
Aug 16, 2017
Infections after septorhinoplasty are extremely rare, but I think most surgeons will give antibiotics and do a standard skin prep before your surgery. A short course of antibiotics as a precaution are often given in the immediate post operative period. It is most likely an abundance of precaution, but better safe than sorry. The downside of doing these things are negligible and side effects from antibiotics are easy to resolve.
A few years ago I was in a bike accident and fell on my nose (the right side). My nose now has a bu
bump
Aug 9, 2017
Surgery is the solution and this is expensive. Just to get the nose back to what it was before you fell may only require some rasping (smoothing). In your case it is hard to say based on the photos you provided.
Alarplasty – how long the scar will be visible?
scar
Aug 9, 2017
All scars are visible forever. Just depends on how close you look. The idea is to put them in areas where they blend in well or heal well. Two weeks is too early in my opinion to be messing with a scar. You want to wait for six months in most cases so you are dealing with a stable situation. steroid injections can be done at the six week mark if they are starting to look thickened.
Can you reduce a long bulbous nose and have a better outcome with closed rhinoplasty?
open or closed
Aug 1, 2017
Those who only do open rhinoplasties usually have been taught this technique in their residency and don’t know how to do a closed rhinoplasty. So, if you go to someone who only knows this one technique or feels more comfortable doing it this way because of his experience, then you are going to get that recommendation whether it is necessary or not. If you go to a hammer you get nailed. If you go to a screw driver you get screwed. Unless you need to have cartilage grafts sewn in place any…
Bumped my nose on a shoulder 8 months after open septoplasty and rhinoplasty.
8 months later?
Aug 1, 2017
The bones have completely set and will survive minor trauma such as a shoulder bump. I would not get concerned.
Nerve issue after chin lipo, buccal fat removal, chin implant and rhinoplasty. Unable to smile corr
nerve damage?
Aug 1, 2017
If you have any movement of the lip then you will not have any long term issues. It will gradually improve as the swelling goes down and any irritation of the nerves has resolved. That said, the nerves to the upper lip vary from patient to patient and can be quite small and susceptible to inadvertent injury. The facial nerve in the area of the buccal fat pad can have a network of nerves rather than just one branch which provides some duplication of effort and likely help you recover more…
What does sinus surgery entail? Will rhinoplasty alleviate my sinus symptoms?
sinus issues
Aug 1, 2017
If you have had a CT of the sinuses and they are clear then your problem is most likely due to over active inferior turbinates. If you septum is deviated or has bone spurs on it, that can contribute to headaches and nasal obstruction. If you have findings on a CT indicating obstruction of the sinuses are thickened lining, then surgery may help this. Cauterizing your inferior turbinates and straightening your septum may give you long term relief of drainage, congestion, and nasal obstruction….
I feel my face is changing, what can I do to look more youthful? I’m only 41 and feel I look 50! (P
How to look yougner
Jul 26, 2017
Keep it simple. Botox and fillers. If you blank checked me then you can start going down the brow lift, rhinoplasty, midface lift route. But, there is always a price to pay and you need to consider the risk/benefit ratio. At 41, the benefits are not as great as those who are 61.
Doctor what needs to be done to my nose? How much will it cost? Is it out of shape? I’m confused (p
what can be done
Jul 26, 2017
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I like to have the patient tell me what they don’t like about their nose first before I impart any advise as to whether it is reasonable to achieve your goals. I can impose my own aesthetic on my patients, but then they get the nose I think looks good not the one they think looks good. You could get a rhinoplasty to improve the shape of your nose and look better in my opinion, but you need to be defined about what you want done before you talk to anyo0ne.
Pig-look nose after rhinoplasty, are there any non surgical ways to correct this?
over rotated tip?
Jul 26, 2017
This could be technique driven where to much rotation was imparted on your nose. Difficult to comment without pre and post photos, but typically your tip will drop as time goes by. Six months to the final result.
Could I have possible damage to the nerve in the corner of my eye?
eyelid pain
Jul 26, 2017
There is nothing quick and easy you can do to help get rid of this sensation at present. You just need to be patient with it because it is most likely irritation of the nerves as apposed to any actual damage to the nerves.
What kind of nose surgery would I need to correct my crooked nose? And where can I find an excellen
crooked nose
Jul 26, 2017
Its a little off, but not that bad. You would do well with a standard rhinoplasty to take out the hump, straighten the dorsum and refine your tip.
Will my eyes eventually close all the way?
eye closure
Jul 26, 2017
They should close all the way in about six weeks. If your eyes are getting dried out at night because they don’t close you need to take some precautions with lubrication.
