Doctor’s answers about Rhinoplasty

Question
Answer Header & Date
Answer Snippet
My nose tip points down 10 months after surgery. Help! What are my options?
Tip support is needed
Nov 20, 2019
It appears your nasal tip has lost support after your surgery and dropped. Sometimes this happens in a strong projected nose, after reducing it. Revision surgery by an experienced rhinoplasty surgeon should give you a much improved result.
Is this achievable and do you recommend a rhinoplasty for me?
Natural looking rhinoplasty
Oct 27, 2019
Yes I think the changes you’ve made with the app are quite realistic. I think you would be a good candidate for rhinoplasty. I would also lift and set back the tip and refine it along with reducing the bridge. Make sure you go to someone who is very experienced and specializes in rhinoplasty.
Bulbous Tip – What are the challenges and realistic results?
Nasal tip refinement
Feb 10, 2018
You appear to be a good candidate for rhinoplasty to narrow and define your tip. During the procedure we reduce and reshape the cartilages but we cant change the skin. The final result depends on how the overlying skin and soft tissue contracts after surgery. Thicker skin tends not to contract and may hide the work that has been done to the cartilages. You appear to have large cartilages and thin skin so I would expect significant improvement. Hope this helps!
What kind of nose surgery should I get?
Rhinoplasty with nostril reduction
May 10, 2017
I think you would be good candidate for rhinoplasty. Only in person consultation can really answer your questions but based on the photo I would recommend reducing the projection of your tip and it’s downward orientation and the slight bump on the bridge. The nostrils could also be narrowed and shortened at the same time. This could be done in a way that still leaves you with a natural looking nose that suits your face.
How long does swelling from alar rim grafts last? When are you considered socially acceptable?
Alar rim grafts cause minimal swelling
Apr 16, 2017
There îs minimal visible swelling from alar rim grafts alone. There would just be swelling along the edge of the nostril and the nostrils may appear a bit wider from the front view. Usually the cartilage is taken from your septum so you will have some nasal congestion. You should be socially acceptable really in a few days if this is the only procedure you are having done. If however you are having a complete rhinoplasty then 2 weeks is more realistic. I hope this helps and good luck with …
Nose bent downwards?
Rhinoplasty for dorsal hump and drooping tip
Apr 8, 2017
You appear to be a good candidate for rhinoplasty to support and lift the tip of your nose and reduce the convex shape of your nasal bridge. It’s important to consult an experienced rhinoplasty surgeon in your area. The costs vary but in general in the Toronto area are in the $6000-$8000 range.
What can I do about my nostrils and nose tip?
Revision rhinoplasty can help
Sep 17, 2016
It appears that your tip is droopy with what we would call a hanging columella. The nostrils also arch upwards which we refer to as alar retraction. A revision rhinoplasty where the tip is lifted and the nostril retraction improved would likely give your nose better balance. It would be important to have a full assessment by a rhinoplasty specialist to address these concerns.
Is it safe and recommended to have rhinoplasty and breast augmentation done at the same time o
Breast augmentation and rhinoplasty
May 5, 2016
Doing a rhinoplasty and breast augmentation at the same time should be fine. This will save you two anaesthetics and less down time. I have done this several times over the years. The main issue is that you may need two different surgeons and trying to coordinate their schedules. Good luck with your procedure.
Question about Rhinoplasty revision vs nostril narrowing. Any suggestions?
Nostril narrowing (alar base reduction)
Apr 27, 2016
Alar base narrowing or nostril narrowing is a commonly performed procedure. I wouldn’t necessarily call this a revision as the area has not had surgery before. It’s more of a supplementary procedure. If your surgeon is not comfortable with this technique it’s best to see an experienced rhinoplasty surgeon to get a full assessment.
Is ear cartilage grafting or fat grafting better to fill in the dent?
Go for the cartilage
Apr 27, 2016
A cartilage graft is likely the best long term option. If there is cartilage in your nasal septum then this would be my first choice. Best to get an opinion from an experienced revision rhinoplasty surgeon.
I got punched in the nose about 2 years ago. What can I do?
Deviated septum may be the problem
Nov 28, 2015
It’s hard to tell from your photo but you may have fractured the cartilage in your nose ( the nasal septum). When it’s pushed to one side it can make the nostrils appear uneven. It’s best to consult an experienced rhinoplasty surgeon to assess your options.
Options to get rid of dorsal hump/bump/droopy tip? Can’t afford surgery.
Surgical rhinoplasty is your best option
Nov 28, 2015
Your nasal shape is primarily determined by your genetics and is nothing you did. Surgery is really the best option in your case. Injections may hide the hump somewhat but make the starting point of your nose too high. I would wait until you can afford the surgery and then see an experienced rhinoplasty surgeon.
