Answer Snippet
I am considering lower facelift for sagging jowls. Worth it? Will jowls be gone?
Sagging Jowls
Feb 7, 2018
The jowl deformity is the most reliable deformity remedied with a facelift in my practice. I integrate an elaborate deep layer correction into my approach along with selective fat manipulations all of which contribute to a smooth even jawline. A skin only lift has not provided reliable corrections of the jowl deformity in my experience. If you want to reduce and often eliminate jowl deformities, I typically recommend a facelift. I have found fillers to be a...

Facial Implants
Feb 7, 2018
Stay close to your plastic surgeon for now. It can take three months for facial implants to fully integrate following implantation surgery. The symptoms you describe should be clearly resolving by 6 weeks. Be patient.
Will the “ledge, love handle” look flatten out after tummy tuck?
Puffiness above the scar early after Tummy Tuck surgery
Jan 28, 2018
Yes the puffiness above your scar will gradually disappear over the next 2-6 months as your scar matures. It is a common transitional phase of wound healing.
Love handles are located lateral and posterior to the scar and its ledge. They require liposuction to correct.
Are my nipples going to permanently point down?
Nipples pointing down after Breast Augmentation
Jan 28, 2018
The phenomenon of "settling" after sub-pectoral breast augmentation needs to be clearly understood. Your implants will settle into a lower position over the first 12 months after your surgery. I would defer areola transposition surgery until at least 6 months have passed. Let gravity and natural muscle contractions do their thing.
I’m 18 and 260 pounds. I want to get rid of some of my belly fat. Would I be a candidate for
Liposuction for a young patient weighing 260 pounds
Jan 28, 2018
No, I would not recommend, nor have I ever performed, liposuction on a patient with diffuse excess fat stores such as yourself. A flat belly with bulging hips thighs pubis and arms is not a natural looking endpoint. A disciplined program of weight loss, monitored by your doctor, is the best solution. I have had many patients who successfully lost the weight on their own. So it can be done.
I frequently refer patients such as yourself to our Bariatric...

Slight issues with breathing
Jan 28, 2018
In my geographical area, southwestern Pennsylvania, post traumatic nasal airway obstruction is generally a covered service, as long as the obstruction is significant. The fact that your symptoms are slight is a concern. Also, the fact that your symptoms have appeared years after the injury suggests the airway obstruction may have some other causative factor. So a thorough work-up by a plastic surgeon certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery should be your...
Returning to work 2 days after surgery?
Returning to a home based computer entry job 2 days after breast augmentation
Jan 14, 2018
As long as you keep your elbows in at your sides, and stop working should pain or discomfort arise, I see no problem in returning to the type of sedentary work that you describe. Check with your surgeon to be sure.
Liposuction or SculpSure for my flanks, abdomen and chest?
Liposuction is the gold standard and a well proven technology
Jan 14, 2018
You are an excellent candidate for liposuction of all three areas. It has already worked well for you in the chest area. You need a little more liposuction on that right side so why not add touch up liposuction of the right chest to the abdominal and flank procedure? Good luck.
Under what circumstances is it not possible to reduce a breast?
Not small enough after breast reduction
Jan 14, 2018
Try not to be concerned so early after surgery. Your breasts will reduce further as the swelling subsides over the next 12 months. If you still think they are too big after a year or so of healing, then a little breast liposuction can reduce them even further. You appear to be much better off than you were already. And the breast are still quite swollen so soon after surgery.
Benelli lift/areola reduction appropriate?
Benelli Lift
Jan 14, 2018
The Benelli breast lift has since been replaced by much more predictable and more natural looking breast lifts. While your photos document that you are an ideal candidate for one of these more modern circum-areolar breast lifts, I would strongly suggest consulting with a plastic surgeon certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery before proceeding.

Breast Asymmetry
Jan 14, 2018
Breast asymmetry can be solved by a number of plastic surgery procedures. While Silicone implants are one of the options, it is only occasionally the best maneuver to employ. It is important to assess exactly what is the cause of the asymmetry before rendering any advice on this matter. An office evaluation by an experienced plastic surgeon certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery is the first and most critical step in the process. Consultations with any...

It appears from the photographs that you provided that you have a unilateral hypertrophy of the right Labia Minora. This a normal variant that you may or may not find distracting. It is of little functional significance, but can be corrected for cosmetic reasons with labiaplasty.
I have had several patients who presented with just such a complaint and have benefited from this minor office procedure.

Itchy bumps in between Labia majora and minora after labiaplasty
Dec 27, 2017
If they are very pruritic (itchy) they likely relate to the topical antiseptic ointment that is often prescribed after such procedures and merely represent an allergy to that ointment. That problem is best treated by immediately stopping the topical antibiotic application and applying a steroid cream such a Hydrocortisone, available at most pharmacies. It usually resolves completely and will have no adverse effect on your ultimate result.
Neosporin ointment is notorious for causing...
What is it called when your eyes are misaligned?
Photo or congenital asymmetry
Dec 27, 2017
It could simply mean that your head was tilted when the photograph was taken. And you're actually perfect after all. The craniofacial surgery needed to correct congenital asymmetries is major and reserved for severe disorders. You would need to consult a Craniofacial specialist to correct such a problem
Snowboarding 6 weeks after?
Vigorous excercise after Tummy Tuck
Dec 27, 2017
Best to check with your doctor. I have asked patients to avoid vigorous exertional activity such as snowboarding for 6 weeks after abdominoplasty for the past 35 years and I cannot recall any patient who reported a problem with that directive. If your diastasis (muscle) repair was significant you may notice some soreness in the midline of your abdomen during such activity. If you do simply curtail the intensity of your workout and listen to what your body is telling...
