How common is it to remove bone along with septal cartilage during rhinoplasty?
Rhinoplasty grafts
Oct 24, 2016
Bone can be use for rhinoplasty grafting but it is less malleable and can resorb. Use of bone is also challenging in the nasal tip or ala as it can be felt. If the septal cartilage is absent, or there is not enough for the planned grafts, ear cartilage or rib cartilage are often used as a secondary grafting material.

Does touching the nose 16 days post-op affect the result?
Post-operative healing
Aug 21, 2016
Healing after rhinoplasty can take weeks to months for the tissues to fully mend. In the immediate weeks after surgery, accidental trauma to the nose or aggressive touching can cause the tissues to shift and potentially lead to an untoward outcome. If you are worried about your cosmetic result, I suggest you speak with your surgeon’s office and be evaluated. Generally though, after 10 days, the bones are often well set. The cartilages can however shift, so care s…
