Am I mature enough for Rhinoplasty?
be Patient!
Feb 20, 2014
I understand your concern about being teased secondary to some physical issue. It is more difficult for me to assess your particular issue because of the single photo that you attached. In general, 14 is young to undergo rhinoplasty. Not just because the body may still be growing, but it can be an emotional experience that requires a bit more maturity than most 14 year olds have. It is not to young to go for a consult and to see what aesthetically will be possible…
Can rhinoplasty be preformed on a female 14 year old?
try to be a bit patient
Feb 17, 2014
Thanks for sending in your question. It is very common for teenagers to be unhappy with their nose and anxious to get it corrected. It is important however to wait until after you finish growing. This typically is around 16 years of age, but can be a little younger in some. Try to select a surgeon that specializes in rhinoplasty and nasal surgery. Read his reviews and make sure that you are comfortable with that surgeon during your consult. Good luck to you!
Septoplasty in 2010, drooping tip, hanging columella?
Drooping nasal tip
Nov 27, 2013
It is somewhat difficult to assess the potential success of revision rhinoplasty without fully evaluating you. Revision rhinoplasty is usually an excellent technique for correcting the drooping tip. This issue occurs when the tip loses its support, most often with age or prior surgery. The correction usually involves using a cartilage graft between the existing cartilage to give it support and to reposition it.
I Had Rhinoplasty and Septum Repair Done 4 Weeks Ago, What Should I Do?
swelling after rhinoplasty
Oct 10, 2013
When I read questions like this, it makes me think that there was a lack of good preoperative communication. You are going to be in for some disappointment if you are not prepared to wait for the six months or so it takes for the typical rhinoplasty edema to subside. It is one of the most important issues we discuss. It is difficult to assess your result from the time frame and from the photos uploaded.
2 Weeks Ago, I Had a 2nd Nostril Rim Graft Put In. Both Grafts Are a Mistake. How Soon Can the Be Re
timing of graft removal
Oct 10, 2013
It is very difficult to fully assess the graft results this early after surgery. Right now, the nostrils has some asymmetry. My advice would be to give it plenty of time for the swelling to subside to see if the symmetry improves. After this type of surgery, that can take six months or longer.
Can Revision Surgery Get Rid of a Hard Point on Left Side Tip of Nose That Was Not There Before Firs
Tip Nodule following Rhinoplasty
Aug 24, 2013
Depending upon the procedure used by her operating surgeon to alter the tip, correction of this issue may or may not be minor. She should return to the surgeon and try to get an understanding of the issue. Sometimes, a palpable edge of cartilage can be simply removed in the office under local anesthesia. Other times it may be more involved.
Stitch Got Pulled While Cleaning 20 Days After Rhinoplasty?
Stitches after rhinoplasty
Aug 24, 2013
The use of stitches inside the nose varies widely amongst surgeons. You need to call your operating surgeon and share your experience. Meanwhile, try to leave the sutures along while gently cleaning your nose. Changes are, the sutures are dissolvable sutures that will eventually disappear on their own.
Crooked Nose After Rhinoplasty
Crooked Nose Following Rhinoplasty Surgery
Aug 24, 2013
As much as we would like perfect healing after every rhinoplasty, sometimes there are intrinsic bends in the cartilage that only manifest after months (sometimes years). The first thing to do is to return to your operating surgeon for an assessment. Unfortunately, this situation, while unusual, typically requires a second procedure to correct.
Is my Nose Considered Big? Would You Operate on It?
The nose should fit the face
Aug 15, 2013
It is difficult to tell from a single frontal photograph about the appropriateness of nose surgery. As a surgeon, we would not operate on a nose because of any predetermined measurement. We make a decision with the patient about rhinoplasty surgery based on the specific concerns of the patient. You should have a consultation with a rhinoplasty surgeon and discuss your concerns. At that time, he or she could review and show you with computer imaging the reasonable…
Is There Any Hope Left for my Nose?
revision rhinoplasty
Jul 30, 2013
It is clearly difficult to tell from the submitted photos what was previously done, or even what the current issues are. It appears from the frontal view that there was a graft placed, whose contour may not be suited for your nose. The profile at this point is satisfactory. It needs to be reassessed at least one year from the last revision.
Nose Slightly Tilted 5 Weeks After Rhinoplasty?
too soon to evaluate
Jul 30, 2013
Some asymetry in the early postoperative course of a rhinoplasty is certainly not unusual. At one month, it is too early to assess that issue. Your nose looks good, and will most likely continue to improve over time.
Rhinoplasty – Previous Tiplasty 10 Years Ago, DIslike Fatty Asymmetrical Nostrils and Tip too Large
revision rhinoplasty
Jul 30, 2013
Hi Candy:

I agree with the responses below that you should always thoroughly evaluate your goals before entering into any surgery, especially revision rhinoplasty. Having said that, your nose does appear to be somewhat overrotated with an overly deep radix. You should be evaluated by someone with experience in revision rhinoplasty so that a complete examination with hopefully some computer imaging can be performed to make sure that your goals can be met.

8 Months Post Revision Rhinoplasty, Polybeak?
Be patient!
Jul 30, 2013
It is ‘good so far’. There is no evidence on the photo you posted that there is a pollybeak. You have some supratip swelling which at 8 months is normal. I would recommend giving it plenty of time and return to your surgeon to assess your progress.
Is It Healthy to Not Be Able to Permanently Breath from the Nose After Rhinoplasty?
the importance of a well functioning nose
Jul 30, 2013
My guess is that your surgeon listed breathing difficulties as a possible complication of rhinoplasty. If so, what he is saying is that rhinoplasty surgery could result in decreased breathing. That is not a result that is desirable and one that can make you extremely uncomfortable and dissatisfied after your surgery. I would discuss these concerns with your surgeon. As someone who exercises regularly, nasal obstruction after rhinoplasty would be a particularly…
How Soon Can Medpor Be Removed After Open Nose Rhino Revision Surgery?
Don’t rush into additional surgery
Jul 30, 2013
Hi:

As frustrating as it seems now, swelling in the tip of the nose is normal after open rhinoplasty surgery. If your surgeon is confident that there is no infection, and if he has significant experience with that type of tip reconstruction (I personally do not use Medpor in the tip of the nose), then you are probably best off listening to his recommendations.
