Do I have a deviated septum?
Deviated Septum
Jun 2, 2015
Your septum is usually deviated when it pushes on the skin and cartilage of the lower nose like what I see in the photographs. I would see a rhinoplasty specialist who does reconstructive rhinoplasties to correct it. Usually a standard septoplasty will not be sufficient and an open approach is needed. I do many extracorporeal septoplasties to correct deviations in this region. A good exam with an experienced plastic surgeon should give you the answers you need. Michael J. Lipan M.D. …
Why won’t this spot heal? This is from a rhinoplasty back in 2012!
Healing from rhinoplasty
Oct 28, 2014
The first step is to culture the pus to see what bacteria is causing the issue. Sometimes an irritated hair follicle can get infected here. Cleaning the infected area and using appropriate oral and topical antibiotics should clear this up. If your surgeon used absorbable sutures for your case, these have all dissolved by now, if not, a deep suture may be causing this recurrent issue and may need to be found and removed.
Is 17 years old too young to have juvederm lip fillers?
lip augmentation with juvederm
Oct 28, 2014
1 syringe of Juvederm is an excellent method to get a subtle increase in fullness to the lips and lip edge. It is unusual to create an asymmetry with it as long as the injector has experience with lip injections. Lips are generally less forgiving than injecting under the skin and has to be done slowly with small amounts of filler done in each area. The result that you should expect is subtle augmentation, anything above that can easily look unnatural. If patients have an asymmetry before…
I Fractured my Nose Last Week and Its Becoming Crooked. What Should I Do?
Nasal Fracture
Aug 8, 2013
If you notice a deviation of you nose that was not present before the accident, there is a good chance that it was fractured. Now that the swelling has reduced, you are more likely to notice any external changes. My advice is to seek an evaluation with plastic surgeon who treats nasal fractures. Any intervention to set the fracture has to be done within two weeks of the injury or the bones will already begin to heal. Hope this helps!

How Do I Get Rid of my Horrible Smile Lines I’m Only 26 Had Them Since I Was a Teen?
Filler to the Nasolabial Folds
May 30, 2013
The smile lines or nasolabial folds are one of the most common areas I treat with filler. Filling the cheeks does tend to improve the lines but directly injecting below them will give you the best results. Surgical correction of that area is usually difficult and fillers have been the mainstay of treatment.

Volume Loss in Cheeks or Eye Bags?
Dermal Filler in Tear Trough Deformity
May 30, 2013
The most apparent issue is a depression from the corner of your eye extending to your lateral cheek. This is called a teat trough deformity and is caused by a combination of reasons. Fortunately, a filler can provide an excellent correction in that region. Unfortunately, your lateral photo is out of focus and I cannot comment on bags under your eyes based on what you posted. See a plastic surgeon who treats the mid-face with filler often as this is an area that can…
Correction of Ear Piercings?
Earlobe Repair
May 22, 2013
You are probably a candidate for a simple earlobe repair. The skin lining the ear piercings can be excised to remove the little holes with a small scar remaining once it heals. Generally this can be done under local anesthesia.

How Soon Can I Have a Facial Scar Excision Redone?
Scar Revision
May 22, 2013
Timing for scar revision can vary depending on the characteristics of the scar. You need a full evaluation to determine if more conservative treatments can help (i.e. steroid injections or silicone sheeting) or if an early revision will help. Bring up these concerns with the dermatologist who performed your last revision to see if they have any advice to improve the scar with conservative measures.

My Scars Dont Look Like They Are As Neat As I Think They Should Be After a Upper and Lower Blepharopl
Blepharoplasty incisions
May 22, 2013
Your photos look very normal for this time frame after surgery. Complete healing will take many months with the majority of healing occurring in the next few weeks. Scars after this surgery generally heal well. Discuss wound care issues with your doctor when you see him to remove the sutures.

I Am 9 Days Post-op from Rhinoplasty. I Am a Baseball Player & Was Hoping Play Again Day 29? Thanks.
Rhinoplasty
May 21, 2013
I usually tell my rhinoplasty patients to refrain from exertion for 1 week, weight lifting or other gym exercises for 3 weeks and contact sports for 6 weeks. Any minor trauma to the face playing baseball can significantly impact the outcome of your rhinoplasty and may be difficult to correct.

I Had a Septo/rhinoplasty, Doctor Removed Splints and Cast Yesterday and Now I Can’t Really Breathe T
Septoplasty and Rhinoplasty
May 3, 2013
I usually tell my patients that this is expected after splint and cast removal. It may take at least 3 months before you will appreciate the better breathing after a functional nasal surgery. Be patient and allow things to heal.

When Can I Take the Splint off?
Nasal Fracture and Splint
May 3, 2013
The splint is intended to stay on for 7 days but if it falls off sooner, I usually do not reapply it. The longer your wear it, the more stability it will provide to the re-aligned nasal bones and remind you not to bump it in the acute post reduction period. Keep in mind to avoid another trauma or activities where you can be hit in the nose for 6 weeks.

What to Do About Puffy, Droopy Lids?
Blepharoplasty and Tired Eyes
May 3, 2013
Based on your photos, the tired look is from excess skin of your upper lids. An upper lid blepharoplasty would address this well. In your first photo, your brows look to be in good position without overusing your forehead muscles. A consultation with a surgeon would allow them to determine what components of a blepharoplasty would need to be used and determine if you have any other eye issues.

Is It Normal to Have Tip Swelling Without Any Tip Work Done?
Tip Edema After Rhinoplasty
Apr 30, 2013
Based on the details on your surgery, you should definitely expect to have tip swelling after your rhinoplasty. Narrowing your lateral cartilages involves work near the tip and the other components of your surgery will cause edema to the entire soft tissue envelope (skin and muscle) of your nose. In terms of noticing asymmetries at this time, it is way too early to reach any definitive conclusions.

Left Nostril Not Fully Healed?
Rhinoplasty and Alar Base Reduction
Apr 30, 2013
Alar base reduction usually involves an incision at the junction of the ala of your nose with the cheek. That incision will continue to evolve and heal over the next year to 18 months. I advise being patient and allow it to heal. The photos don’t demonstrate a very noticeable gap. At your next follow up appointment, review long term incision care. Some surgeons recommend extended use of facial moisturizer use with sun precautions with to optimize long term…
