What reasons would fat be added just to the upper face? Can this still look natural?
Fat is great, when done right!
Nov 15, 2023
Carefully and masterfully performed fat grafting to the face offers several significant benefits, particularly for aesthetic rejuvenation and sometimes for reconstructive purposes. Here are the key benefits:
Restoration of Volume: One of the most apparent benefits of fat grafting is the restoration of lost facial volume. As we age, our faces naturally lose fat, leading to a more hollow or sunken appearance. Fat grafting can effectively restore this lost volume, giving a more youthful, fuller…
Skin on nose after rhinoplasty. Is this normal?
PIH is a possibility
Nov 15, 2023
Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH) is a condition where the skin becomes darker in certain areas. This can happen after an injury, inflammation, or in this case, a surgical procedure like rhinoplasty. In simple terms, when the skin is injured or inflamed, the body responds by producing more melanin, the pigment that gives skin its color. This extra melanin can cause the affected area to look darker than the surrounding skin.
In the context of rhinoplasty, PIH can occur as a response…
1 year post corset platysmaplasty – what are my options to enhance my results?
Deep neck lift
Oct 30, 2023
Thank you for sharing your photograph and concerns regarding your neck lift results. While it can be challenging to make a definitive assessment based solely on photographs, it does appear that there might be a recurrence and separation of the platysmal bands. Furthermore, I also observe potential hypertrophy of the deeper structures, including muscle and glands, that might not have been fully addressed in the initial procedure. Please know that these observations are not uncommon and can be…
Does ultrasonic rhinoplasty yield better results then traditional rhinoplasty?
Ultrasonic rhinoplasty
Oct 30, 2023
First and foremost, I’d like to share with you the benefits of ultrasonic rhinoplasty, a procedure I have extensive experience with in the field. Ultrasonic rhinoplasty utilizes ultrasonic energy to precisely sculpt the nasal bones, allowing for a more controlled and refined reshaping with minimal trauma to surrounding tissues. This often translates to reduced post-operative swelling and bruising, promoting a quicker recovery. It’s worth noting that while I’m utilize various approaches to…
How to help a bad lip lift scar? 8 months post-op facial feminization & lip lift
You have options!
Oct 25, 2023
I am sorry to hear you aren’t satisfied with your scar but don’t despair, you have options. I will and break down my answer into section for ease of reading.
1. **Hypertrophic Scar vs. Keloid:** A hypertrophic scar is raised and red but doesn’t grow beyond the boundary of the original wound. A keloid, on the other hand, is an overgrowth of scar tissue that can expand beyond the wound area. It’s important to determine which type of scar you have, as treatments can vary.
2. **Scar Mat…
Upturned Pig-like Nose After Rhinoplasty
Be patient
Oct 13, 2023
Hi! After undergoing rhinoplasty, it’s common for patients to notice changes in the appearance of their nose that might not align with their final desired result. Specifically, in the first 2-3 months post-operation, the tip of the nose can often appear more upturned than intended. This upturned appearance is typically due to the tension in the tissues from the surgical alterations and the natural swelling that ensues following such a procedure. As the nose heals and the swelling gradually…
What Is The Proper Way For Me To Clean The Dried Mucus Out Of My Nose 3 Weeks Post-Op?
Have you reached out to your surgeon?
Oct 13, 2023
First and foremost, it’s important to reach out to your surgeon or their medical team regarding any post-operative worries or actions. They will have the best insight into your specific procedure and any potential implications.
It’s not uncommon for patients to feel discomfort and the urge to clear out dried mucus post-rhinoplasty. Gentle cleaning with a Q-tip generally should not cause significant damage, but excessive force or going too deep can potentially disrupt healing or cause…
Is 7 months too soon for a revision rhinoplasty?
Rhinoplasty recovery
Oct 13, 2023
I’m truly sorry to hear about your experience and the distress it has caused you. It’s completely understandable to feel upset and disappointed after a surgical procedure doesn’t yield the desired results, especially one as personal and visible as rhinoplasty. First and foremost, your feelings and concerns are valid. Healing from rhinoplasty can vary significantly among individuals, and sometimes the final outcome is not evident until a year or more after surgery. While waiting can be…
How long is it normal to have swelling after rhinoplasty?
Rhinoplasty swelling
Oct 13, 2023
Thanks for your question. For primary rhinoplasty, these are the recovery and swelling times I see in my practice:
1) Initial swelling, days 1 to 14. In the first 2 weeks, there is rapid onset of swelling, about 35% of which resolved by day 14.
2) Stage 1: From day 14 to 90 there is steady decrease in swelling. Another 35% decrease is expected in this stage. Taping is important for the initial part of this stage.
3) Stage 2: Day 90-365 (and beyond)By day 90, you have about 30% swelling left…
How Much Does Rhinoplasty Cost?
Rhinoplasty cost
Oct 13, 2023
Rhinoplasty cost is dependent upon 4 factors:1) Complexity of surgery: Which itself is dependent upon your history, anatomy and aesthetic wishes2) Surgeon experience and expertise: Surgeons are not all create equal when it comes to aesthetic procedure that require specialization. Rhinoplasty is one such procedure. I cannot tell you how many patients comes to me for revision rhinoplasty after having had their initial surgery by another surgeon just because they were cheaper or more locally…
What is the typical rhinoplasty recovery like?
Rhinoplasty recovery
Oct 13, 2023
Hi. Thank you for your question. I will attempt to answer your question but dividing rhinoplasty recovery into 3 main stages:STAGE 1: Immediate postoperative: This stage will last about 7-10days. In my hands, your downtime, ie the time you need to absolutely be resting, is about 48 hours. After that you can start to do light activities around the house or go for walks. You are allowed to eat what you’d like but I’d recommend lighter food for the first 48 hours to keep it easy on the stomach….

Thank you for you question. I have found that arnica montana works great. Oral supplements definitely have superior results to topical applications. In addition, elevating the head of the bed helps.
Left eye is bulging because of Graves and the eye is drying out a lot. What is the best treatment for
Protect the cornea!
Nov 7, 2016
The reason for bulging of the eyes in Grave’s is deposit of substances called glycoaminoglycans in the orbit, effectively making the eye socket too small to house the eye contents. If the bulging of your eyes is affecting your ability to achieve full eyelid closure leading the dryness of your eyes, first priority is to protect your cornea by applying lacrilube and artificial tears to your eye and taping your eyelids closed while you sleep.

Second priority is to see an…

White patch on nose wing after open Rhinoplasty. Any suggestions?
Adhesive?
Jan 13, 2016
This is obviously very difficult to answer without any photos. Sometimes we apply an adhesive/protectant onto the skin prior to taping. Alternatively this could be milia. I would recommend either posting a photo or seeing your surgeon for further evaluation.

Rhinoplasty
Dec 21, 2015
Hi. Looking at the photos, I do think he would certainly benefit from rhinoplasty. Addressing the dorsal hump, the width of your nose, and the characteristics of the tip could refine the overall appearance of your nose to one that fits your facial structure better. The name of the game is facial harmony. Make an appointment when you are ready for a full facial analysis and computer rendering so you can see what to expect after surgery.
