Question

Answer Snippet
Rhinoplasty. Would I need to get this polyp removed before surgery?
rhinoplasty & polyp
Mar 12, 2015
I think this could all be taken care of at the time of rhinoplasty. That being said it would depend on the comfort level of your surgeon in doing this procedure. Many rhinoplasty surgoens have ENT training so removing a nasal polyp is staright forward. That being said, many times nasal polyps are a sign of more significnat sinus disease and that may need to be evaluated before cosmetic surgery
Does Botox effects on tear trough?
botox and tear trough
Mar 12, 2015
I have never heard or read about botox affecting the tear trough so I think whatever is going on is independent of the botox. Botox works by inhibiting neuro-muscular transmissions and most people dont have and significnat muscle tissue in the tear trough so anatomically this would not make sense
Why do surgeons like septal cartilage grafts over ear cartilage, apart from availability?
septal cartilage over ear cartilage
Mar 10, 2015
Clearly septal cartilage can be harvested in a region the surgeon is already working, particularly if a septoplasty is being performed. That being said in many cases, not all, septal cartilage is staighter and easier to work with. Ear cartlage is curved, which is good if you need a curved peice, but not if you need something straight. Also the consistency of septal cartilage in my hands is easier to work with and more predictable. Not all cartilage is the same.
I had upper and lower eyelid surgery 13 days ago. My eyes are not the same size. Any suggesti
dont be overly concerned
Mar 2, 2015
Its unusual that eyelid surgery can change the shape of your eye and at 13 days I would say in most cases this is attributed to swelling. This is why having a good relationship with your surgeon is so critical so they can answer these questions for you. For most of my patients I tell them to stay away from the mirror for the first week or so after surgery because you are always going to look asymetric and unusual but that typically self corrects after swelling resolves in a few weeks
Is it possible to have a nose job that is very natural looking while not getting a lot done?
natural is best
Mar 2, 2015
I think less is more when it comes to rhinoplasty. I think you can stay natural without having to have a nose that looks too overdone or cosmetic. That being said, you have to consider what you want out of the surgery and thats why an in person consultation is so critically important.
What Moisturizer to use after stitches are removed from upper eyelid surgery?
aquaphore ointment
Mar 2, 2015
I like Aquaphor Healing Ointment but you should consult your surgeon, everyone has their own preference. Usually after a week or two I tell my patients to go back to their regular facial moisturizer and they don’t have to use anything special.
Received 100 units of Botox for Cervical Dystonia. Can Botox spread even to areas of the body
100 units of botox
Mar 2, 2015
You really should discuss this with the neurologist who administered your treatment. It’s unusual for cosmetic treatments to exceed 50 units so I think a neurologist is better equipped to answer this question.
