When is it safe to Vape (low nic) after gynocymastia surgery? I had to get double incisio
Post-op restrictions
Feb 20, 2018
Patients have been known to bleed up to three weeks after any surgery.  Gynecomastia surgery is no exception to the rule.  Therefore, restriction to activity should last for at least 3 weeks.  Smoking is known to interfere with healing and marijuana use has been associated with the development of gynecomastia.  In view of this, I would recommend limitation of heavy activity and running until the swelling in the surgical side is back to normal.  Alcohol in moderation is possible at this s...
Will I lose strength after gyno surgery? Will it affect my Powerlifting routine?
No loss of strength after gynecomastia surgery
Feb 20, 2018
Breast tissue is considered part of the skin elements.  Therefore removing the breast tissue should not affect the strength of the muscle below.  After the healing has fully occurred, the strength should be back to the pre-operative state minus the loss from inactivity secondary to the recovery.
Full or partial removal? I see conflicting opinions regarding gland removal for gynecomas
Amount of tissue removed in gynecomastia
Feb 20, 2018
A gynecomastia procedure is a cosmetic procedure.  Therefore the removal should be in line with the aesthetic goal.  If all the gland needs to be removed, then it should be removed.  I usually leave a 1 cm of tissue underneath the nipple to prevent a deformity there.  I have never experienced a return of gynecomastia after removal.
Would you recommend a lift? Is this goal even achievable?
Breast lift or breast lift and implants
Feb 20, 2018
It is not clear from your question what size breasts you have, now.  If you are close to a DD, then a breast lift with a bioresorbable mesh may give you the long-term support you need.  Placing an implant at the same time a lift is done provided you don't have the correct breast volume can be done but adds a variable and possible complications associated with implants.
Worried About Tummy Tuck Internal Corset Stitching Sutures?
Spitting sutures
Jul 3, 2013
Sutures that are "spitted" up by the body are usually the ones used in skin closure. The "corset "sutures are usually deep not absorbable and are not expelled by the body. TThey get infected either at the time of surgery or if the skin on top of them is not together and bacteria go down to the sutures causing a small localized infection. When that happens the body ends up getting rid of the suture to resolve the infection..
Marathon Training After Tummy Tuck?
exercise and TT
Jul 3, 2013
Full unrestricted exercise including sit-ups is allowed at 6 weeks after surgery. Running is allowed at 3 weeks so marathon training should be fine at 10 weeks. Remember however that it takes 3 months for the swelling to not come back particularly in the lower abdomen. Make sure you wear a good bra when you run. Good luck with both endeavors.
Do I Need a Tummy Tuck?
Lipo V/S TT
Jun 4, 2013
From your history and the pictures you should have a very good improvement with liposuction alone. All you need is a surgeon to examine you and confirm the impression I have. Good luck.
Am I Candidate for a Tummy Tuck?
candidate
May 27, 2013
Yes, you are, provided you have health contra-indications. You will be also happy with the outcome.
Am I a Candidate? Or Easy Prey?
bariatric surgery/tummy tuck
May 27, 2013
I think that you should consider bariatric surgery because at 275 lbs your arms and thighs, your back are also in need of help. Once you loose the weight then you can talk about cosmetic surgery.
Do I Need a Mini-tummy Tuck, or the Full Tuck?
mini tuck
May 27, 2013
If you have realistic expectations and just want the flab and some tightening then a minituck with a small scar will make you quite happy. go for it.
I Need an Idea if I Can Do Lipo or Mini Tummy Tuck or if I Would Need Full Tummy Tuck? (p
TT Lipo ot diet
May 27, 2013
There ae different ways to approach this problem; one is the ideal, and that would be loosing the weight and tightening what is left, if needed.

There is however a compromise way where you have a procedure, get the ball moving loose some weight and accepting the improvement acheived or accept another surgical procedure.

the third way is to have lipo and TT at the same time but the fear is that if you have not been able to acheive a disciplined diet you and will regain the fat...

Out of Town Tummy Tuck: How Many Follow-up Appointments?
Post tummy tuck visits
Jan 17, 2013
I personnaly see my patients frequently after surgery. At 3 to 5 days post op , one week, one month, 3 monthes 6 monthes, and one year.

One of the biggest concerns after abdominoplasty is clots in the legs and pulmonary emboli. You should be aware of the symptoms and be able to get medical care expeditiously. The chances of having one decreases as the post op days go by. This why it is recomended you stay close to your physician for the first few days.

Will my Abdomen Fall with a Lipo or Will It Just Be Wrinkled?
Abdominal liposuction and resulting skin appearance
Dec 29, 2012
You are only 27. The expectation is That the skin has enough elasticity to tighten up after suctionning. Having said that there are the particulars of your extra weight and its distribution and the skin quality. Those issues will need to be properly evaluated during consultation.
Butt Implants or Brazilian Butt Lift?
buttocks augmentation which procedure is right?
Dec 19, 2012
There is no procedure that is perfect or that is going to work for evrybody. So we ned to understand what each does and its limitations.

To have a successfull fat transfer you need to have enough fat to "donate" to another part of the body. If you harvest 1000cc you end up with around 500cc in the buttocks you then have to consider the survival of the fat There is no accurate data on that but 60% survival is what is accepted. So you have to see how much volume you need, do the math...

Question About Splints and Packing After Rhinoplasty?
splints and packing after rhinoplasty.
Dec 19, 2012
External splints are placed for two reasons: help control the swelling and protect the bones that were relocated from moving. Internal splints and packing are placed for two reasons: to bring the mucosa(internal lining of the nose) back against the cartilage and bones and to support the septum. There are less important reasons for the external and internal support but these are thee mainones. Depending on the extent of the surgery, the technique used, and what part of the nose was...
