Is it possible to correct my ‘hanging’ nostrils and give my nose more structure?
What to expect from rhinoplasty
Mar 10, 2017
From the photos you post of your nose and of your ideal nose, I think that you are likely a great candidate for rhinoplasty. Some of the irregularities that you see in the mirror and in person may not come through with the photos due to the flash of the camera washing them out. I suggest that you visit a board certified surgeon with extensive experience in rhinoplasty for in-person exam, photos with imaging, and discussion of what results could be expected in your particular case.  Best of luck!
What are the odds of a completely successful revision rhinoplasty?
Should I have a revision rhinoplasty if I am unhappy with my rhinoplasty results?
Mar 10, 2017
I tell patients that with each revision surgery, there is a decreased ability to make the nose “perfect” because of surgical manipulations, grafting and scarring from previous procedures. That being said, it IS ABSOLUTELY possible to get a great revision rhinoplasty result. I recommend that you really take time looking carefully at your nose and deciding which are the things that are bothering your eye the most, and while trying to address everything, agree with your surgeon to really …
Rhinoplasty revision. Should I wait longer or get it done soon?
How long should you wait to get a revision rhinoplasty?
Mar 10, 2017
In general, I suggest waiting a full year before undertaking revision rhinoplasty, as there is subtle swelling yet to resolve at the 6 month-mark, and the scar tissue beneath the skin is not 100% mature. That being said, there are exceptions to this rule for me.  If you have a good relationship with your surgeon, I suggest that you discuss your concerns with her or him. Best!
Do I have eye bags? What whould you suggest to make the lower eye more youthful?
Rejuvenation around the eyes
Mar 10, 2017
I’ve seen a huge increase in patients with concerns about early aging around the eyes in the last year. It is a little difficult to give you a full recommendation based on your single photo (for example, lighting can greatly change what they under eye area looks like). However, based on what I see, I think that you may benefit from a small amount of filler in the tear trough (slight depression under the eyes), and some conservative Botox just underneath the eyelid in the midline (…
How much botox do I need for my masseter muscles?
Masseter Muscle Botox
Feb 8, 2017
The masseter muscle is one of the muscles activated during chewing. It’s located at the “angle of the mandible”, or “angle of the jaw”. Masseter muscle hypertrophy is enlargement of the masseter muscle, and can contribute to a harsh, square look at the angle of the jaw. Botox can be used to relax this muscle, and to soften the look of the lower face. I usually start with 50 units of botox (25 units on each side). When Botox is used to relax the facial muscles that cause fine line, the m…
Crust under cast/splint normal?
Crusting under your splint is NOT normal after rhinoplasty
Jan 30, 2017
I suggest calling and seeing your surgeon as soon as possible. This is NOT part of the normal healing process. You definitely need to be examined and seen is person.
Dent in nose after 2 weeks?
How long before I can really see the results of a revision rhinoplasty?
Jan 26, 2017
At only 2 weeks after what sounds like an involved revision rhinoplasty, you still have a long way to go before your final results will be apparent. In PRIMARY (first time) rhinoplasty, I usually advise patients to expect to see 85% of the results after one month, 95% after 6 months and a full year before the final results. In revision cases, this can be even longer. At this point, I would definitely not stress. If you’re concerned, I would suggest making an appointment with your surgeon for…
Tired of squinty eyes. What can I do?
What can I do to open up my eyes in photos?
Jan 26, 2017
Your concern is a really common one!  There is a circular muscle that goes around the eyes called the orbicularis oculi muscle, and when you smile, this muscle squeezes in a circumferential way around your eye that ends up closing your eye. This muscle is stronger in some people than others. An easy first step would be Botox at the crows feet laterally, a small touch directly under the lower eyelid margin for the “jelly roll” that happens when we smile (google it!), and a Botox eyebrow l…
Is hard tissue under chin after chin implant normal?
How much swelling is normal after chin implant surgery
Jan 26, 2017
At one month after surgery, it is very likely that you do have some swelling. I usually advise patients that the absolute final result of chin implant surgery is seen 3 months after surgery.  That being said, there are many different types and shapes of chin implants, and the final shape of your chin will in deed depend upon which implant was used by your surgeon. I would suggest consulting with your surgeon in person so that she or he can examine you and better advise you. Good luck!
Chin Tightens and Locks Involuntarily After Botox
muscle twitching after Botox injection to the chin
Dec 28, 2016
I routinely inject the mentalis muscle int he chin for chin dimpling.  I have injected the mentalis muscle in over 500 patients, and in my experience, I have seen two patients who have complained of some asymmetric cramping, or twitching of the mentalis muscle as the Botox wears off (after 3-4 months). It is very uncommon, and I imagine annoying, but not permanent. In both cases, this cramping lasting 1-2 weeks and completely resolved. One patient decided that it was annoying enough for her …
Dimpled, orange peel chin?
Botox for chin dimpling
Dec 28, 2016
A small number of Botox units (between and 4 and 6 units total) can be injected into the mental is muscle of the chin to eliminate chin dimpling. The maximal effect of the treatment will be seen around 1 week after injection. Bruising at the injection site is possible, but extremely rare. Results last around 4 – 6 months.

How Long Does Botox Take to Work in the Masseter Muscles?
It can take up to 3 months to see the final cosmetic results of masseter muscle Botox
Dec 28, 2016
Yes. Clenching teeth, or “grinding you teeth” can cause the masseter muscle to get bigger, or “hypertrophy”. The masseter muscle is one of the muscles activated during chewing. It’s located at the “angle of the mandible”, or “angle of the jaw”. Masseter muscle hypertrophy is enlargement of the masseter muscle, and can contribute to a harsh, square look at the angle of the jaw.
