It depends on what kind of injections you have had. If it's simple HA then we can inject hyaluronidase to melt it before surgery and usually works pretty well, but if it's other materials then sometimes there is no solution and can only be removed surgically at the time of surgery. I often give patients the choices of Gortex, donor rib or autologous (self) rib for the dorsum. In asian rhinoplasty the challenge is the quantity of material to augment the dorsum, so most definitely extra nasal (outside of nose) materials are needed. Your own rib (autologous rib) has the advantage of a large quantity of material that is easy to carve and shape, but has probably less than 5% chance of warping (benting) over time and also potential for permanent unsightly scar on the...
