Do African Americans get lip injections?
Fillers in African-Americans
Aug 19, 2014
Yes, African-Americans do get lip injections with fillers such as Juvederm and Restalyne. The common ratio of the face, including the lips, is called the “Golden ratio” or “Phi” which is approximately 1 to 1.6…..which means your lower lip is usually a little bit larger then the upper lip to maintain this ratio in theory. But it also depends on other factors since you want the overall appearance of your face to be similar and fit together well. See a specialist who is…

Botox after 2 days
Aug 19, 2014
Sometimes patients do have a mild headache after Botox, but usually it goes away within a day, not common for it to last for days so…. hopefully that resolves. As far as the dropping of the eyebrows, it really depends on the injection areas, how deep injected and the amount injected. Since only 2 days, you really need to give it some more time to determine how it will look. I will have patients wait 2 weeks before injecting more, since by then you have the maximum effect,…
Where does the fillers inject in the nose; in the bone or between the bone and the skin?
Fillers in Nose area
Aug 19, 2014
The common fillers are injected into the deeper part of the skin called the dermis. Depending on the filler and type, it may be injected superficial or deep into the dermis. Also some fillers are injected deeper than the skin and are placed close to the bone and below the muscle. In the nose, you would want someone who is comfortable injected there since it is not a common area to inject with fillers and you have risks in that area due to blood vessels and the eye very…

Rash for 9 months
Aug 15, 2014
From what you are describing and the photo, it may not be ringworm. It may also be an condition called granuloma annulare or another condition related to a response by your immune system or other causes, not necessary a ringworm infection. Often these type of conditions burn-out after a period of time, but you may need a biopsy to prove the diagnosis once and for all. If it is one of these conditions and not ringworm, then topical steroids or steroid injections into the…
Can fillers and laser treatments cause long-term recurring cold sores?
Procedures and Cold sores
Aug 15, 2014
If you have a history of cold sores, various factors can cause them to recur; such as injections for fillers around the mouth, lasers, sunlight, stress, illness, etc. So there is the risk with fillers and lasers that a cold sore may occur. Discuss with your provider, and they will likely have you continue the anti-viral medication before and after the Genesis; or they may have you take a higher dose depending on your prescription.
I received Voluma injections 6 days ago. I have quite a bit of swelling. Is this normal?
Voluma Swelling
Aug 15, 2014
It is not uncommon to get swelling and puffiness after fillers, such as Voluma. If almost a week after the injection the swelling should be resolving, unless you had some other issue where the injection possible caused some bleeding, touching a nerve, etc. I recommend if not improving then go back to your provider to ensure nothing more serious is going on. If any issues, there are was to help alleviate or even dissolve the Voluma.
Is it safe to get Botox injection if I was just given a cortisone shot?
Botox after Steroid Shot
Aug 14, 2014
Botox and steroids work differently in the body and do not interfere with each other or cause a bad reaction. Discuss with your provider, but a week after a steroid injection in your foot for heel pain, you should be able to have Botox into your face without any issues.
