Non-surgical Nose Job Procedures to Reduce Nose Size?
Non surgical rhinoplasty
Aug 15, 2016
Injectable rhinoplasty using facial fillers has become very popular over the past few years.  They can be a good alternative to surgery it patients need to build up or add to depressions along the bridge of the nose.  They are called filler, because they add volume, so these products cannot be used to make the nose “smaller.”  However, they can be used to give the nose a more balance shape which can potentially achieve the result of a reductions rhinoplasty.
Rhinoplasty Swelling
Swelling after rhinolplasty
Aug 15, 2016
I typically tell my patients to expect bruising and swelling after the surgery.  The first month after surgery patients can frequently see daily changes.  After about 6 weeks 80-90% of the swelling has resolved, however the last 10-20% can take months to resolve.
Composite Graft Repair versus Alar Rim Cartilage Graft Repair for an External Notched Scar at the Up
Alar notch
Feb 2, 2015
Alar notching can be a very complex problem to fix during rhinoplasty surgery. The best answer I can give you is it depends on the severity of the notching. There is not one best option that fits for everyone. Best of luck.
What results should I expect?
Asian eyelid crease height
Feb 2, 2015
Creating a more defined crease or a higher eyelid crease are very common concerns I see in my practice.Your exact changes are best assessed with a face to face consultation with a surgeon so that they could determine your skin type and your particular aesthetic goal.During my consultations, I use a crease probe to simulate different crease shapes and heights. Based on what you like best, I can give you an idea of the type of surgery recommended and the recovery process.Good luck
What are the best methods to stabilize a shield graft in an Asian patient?
Tip graft
Feb 2, 2015
Good question. Sounds pretty technical. Your answer really depends are what is required for your desired aesthetic goals. If your are looking to increase tip rotation and projection, then the shield graft could be re-positioned. If this does not completely address the issues then additional tip defining techniques may be required.Of course with revision rhinoplasty scar tissue will be of concern for the surgeon.
Rhinoplasty limitations?
Notable changes
Feb 2, 2015
I believe communication is paramount during any initial rhinoplasty consultation. Each individual is looking for something different in what they want to achieve. Some want to have a very subtle change and some may want a very dramatic change. I truly believe digital imaging prior to performing a rhinoplasty is very essential. This helps both the patient and the surgeon understand the patient’s individual goals of the surgery.Once the types of changes are agreed upon,…
Can the removed hump be used to build the bridge?
Asian rhinoplasty – hump and low radix
Feb 2, 2015
Your concerns are very frequent issues I see in my practice. Sounds like you have a relatively low nasal radix (area between the eyes) with a mid-dorsal hump.It is unlikely the surgeon will be able to use the bone and cartilage and is required to remove the hump and re-position it to the low point between your eyes. The answer to your question really relies on the amount of augmentation your are looking to achieve. A small augmentation could be achieved using either…
Epicantoplasty failed. What can I do to help this?
Asymmetries after Asian eyelid surgery
Feb 2, 2015
Your concerns are quite common for patients undergoing this type of surgery. My best recommendation, (although difficult) is to have some patience. I tell my patients that the first month after DES and epicanthoplasty surgery, patient will see almost daily changes to the eyelid shape. Also patients early on after surgery will also without a doubt have asymmetries. Frequents visits with your surgeon to voice your concerns are the best recommendations I can give to…
My nostrils are looking very different since the cast was removed.
Nostril asymmetry after surgery
Feb 2, 2015
During your first few months (especially your first month) after surgery patients undergoing rhinoplasty will undoubtedly have asymmetries as they are healing. These asymmetries can be anywhere on the nose from the top of the bridge to the base of the nose (nostrils included). This is can be very nerve racking as the patient, but some trust and patience are required during this phase of the recovery.Of course close post operative evaluations and discussions with your surgeon will help…
I had a septoplasty 2 weeks ago. Should I be worried about a massive nosebleed?
Nosebleed after septoplasty
Feb 2, 2015
One of the biggest concerns as a surgeon performing nasal surgery is post operative bleed. The amount of bleeding can vary significantly from small amounts of spotting to a significant nosebleed. The risks of nosebleed associated with nasal surgery can be up to 2 week after surgery. From your description, I would definitely recommend speaking to your surgeon as soon as possible to have this evaluated.
Can a nose job cause allergy?
Maybe related to tape adhesive
Feb 2, 2015
Hi Catherine,Having skin changes on the nose or around the nose can be common. It could be related to a skin sensitivity the adhesive on the tape your surgeon used to dress the nose after your rhinoplasty.Pain and significant redness may indicate a skin infection could also be signs of a skin infection. My best recommendation is to discuss these concerns immediately with your surgeon.
What to do when an ENT turns you down for not being a serious enough case?
Second opinion can help
Feb 2, 2015
Dear Lyndis,Nasal obstruction can be caused by numerous issues with not only the nasal valve, but also with sinus, allergy, and other anatomic structures in the nose. If you feel like you wanted re-assessment for you condition and to see if you are an appropriate candidate for surgery I would at least recommend seeking a second opinion with a board certified otolaryngologist.
I Would Like to Know the Possible Risks of Wearing a Dorsal Implant for Height and Definition (photo
Dorsal augmentation
Nov 1, 2012
The type of implant or graft which is most suitable for an individual varies on several factors. Two important considerations include the desired amount of augmentation and the characteristics of owns septal cartilage (thickness and volume). Most of my patients who desire significant augmentation I tend to recommend either rib cartilage or e-PTFE.
Will Rhinoplasty Be Able to Improve my Breathing and Enhance my Appearance?
Broken nose
Nov 1, 2012
You seem like a good candidate for nasal surgery. First I think you did the correct thing which is to address you jaw issue first. Once this is addressed and stable you could be a good candidate for nasal surgery. Costs can vary and I would recommend an evaluation to get a better understanding of your specific injuries and breathing issues.
Can This Nose Be Corrected? To What Extent?
Crooked nose
Nov 1, 2012
Correcting a crooked nose is one of the most common inquiries among patients interested in nasal surgery. If you have a deviated septum this should also be addressed as this maybe contributing to the deviation. Best recommendation to start this process is to consult with a rhinoplasty surgeon.
