Can a piece of silicone be placed in my dorsom with an existing diced cartilage fascia (DCF)?
Adding silicone implant to Diced cartilage Fascia
Mar 6, 2017
In order to give you a thoughtful answer to you question, I believe you are best served by visiting a with a surgeon. Then an examination can be performed to assess you concerns, the quality of the skin envelope, and discuss your goals. In my opinion photos alone will not help with that assessment as one is best served by feeling the skin envelope. Then you can have a discussion with the surgeon of the treatment options to meet your goals; the risks and benefits; and whether or not it...
Is it realistic to ask for a transdermal pain management patch for a breast augmentation without a li
Pain patches
Jun 6, 2016
As noted by my colleagues already, pain patches are more appropriate for patients with chronic pain. There are many options for oral pain medications and treatment regimens that should adequately manage your pain and minimize the risk of side effects. Finally, note that the Fentanyl patch is contraindicated and not appropriate for management of intermittent pain on an as needed basis. See the FDA website
How can I prepare for a consultation? I'd like a nose job
Preparing for your consultation
Apr 29, 2016
I am probably going to echo many of the comments already posted. The main thing you need to do is figure out what result will make you smile. What change do you want in your nose and try to be as clear as possible. Maybe even make a list (i.e- smooth out the bump, narrow the nose, etc). This will help establish clear goals for your surgeon. Then make sure in your consultation that you are both on the same page as to the result that you want. The key is good communication. If you do not feel...
If I'm small chested, do I need the galaflex mesh with my augmentation?
Mesh with implant
Feb 15, 2016
I would agree with many of the answers posted here already. My answer is a general one without the ability to examine you and your particular situation. That said, in my practice, it is very uncommon to use any kind of mesh material in first time or even revision breast augmentation.
Can middle vault collapse occur without osteotomies (just bump reduction) ?
Jan 21, 2016
As many have already mentioned, hump removal alone can cause middle vault collapse. However, the problem is not always that straightforward. If this is something you have experienced it is best to be evaluated by someone experienced in rhinoplasty and revision rhinoplasty in particular.
How many times can a person undergo breast fat transfer surgery?
How many times?
Apr 11, 2015
Fat transfer usually requires several sessions to reach the desired size. One of the only limitations would be availability of donor fat to transfer. As always, best to have an evaluation with a surgeon who can guide you based on your individual history, goals and examination. Good Luck!
Could I be candidate for OVERS in Breast Augmentation?
Going over the muscle
Mar 24, 2015
I would recommend visiting with a plastic surgeon that has experience going over the muscle with implants. Many of the decisions as to whether one can go over the muscle depend on an examination, and the size and type of implant selected. There are risks to going over as well as under the muscle. There is no risk free surgery and the decision is sometimes based what issues are more acceptable to you as a trade off.
Should I get open or closed rhinoplasty? How long should I consider to take off work to heal?
Open or closed rhinoplasty
Mar 23, 2015
Both techniques can be used in rhinoplasty and achieve excellent results. However, surgeons will often have their preference of which technique they will use based on their experience with each technique and what steps they will need to perform during surgery. I would suggest meeting with a surgeon, discussing your goals for surgery and undergoing an examination. They can then propose to you the technique which they feel will best meet your goals in their hands. As far as time off...
Boob job overseas?
Overseas surgery
Mar 19, 2015
Many have answered your question already. While it may be cheaper to go overseas for surgery you will lose the main benefit of what you are paying for. A physician who is there to follow you and take care of you should any problems arise after surgery. You are also losing the benefit of the warranty that comes with the implants sold in the United States. This would help you financially should you require re-operation due to a problem with the implants such as a leak or contracture. In...
I am 42, 5'8 and 160 pounds. Please advise me of your recommendation to be a very small D?
Differences in opinion
Mar 18, 2015
I find it can be difficult to give you my opinion without discussion of your goals and evaluating you in person. All plastic surgeons have their own opinion as to what will get you the best result and what works well for them. I would recommend choosing a surgeon based on the one that you feel best understands your goals and you feel confident that they can meet them. Choosing a surgeon can be a challenge and there are no guarantees as to the results particularly when it comes to cup size. I...
Flat cheeks and prominent deep nasolabial folds. Am I a candidate for a mid-face lift or fat transfer
Flat cheeks mid face lift fat transfer
Mar 12, 2015
There are several options to manage your concerns. I would recommend seeing a few surgeons to gather their opinions and then select the one you have the most confidence in. Based on their conversation with you they can discuss with you the options that can be best suited to meet you goals. These options might include cheek implants, filler (either fat or one of the products such as juvaderm and radiuses), or possibly a mid face lift. In my practice I find that talking with the patient to...
Which one should I get done first: upper jaw surgery or rhinoplasty?
Jaw surgery vs Rhinoplasty
Mar 12, 2015
I would recommend undergoing your jaw surgery first. Jaw surgery can have an effect on the appearance to the nose. If you think of building a house one works on the foundation (Jaw) before commencing work on what rests on the foundation (the nose). Also many of the aesthetic judgements that relate to the appearance of the nose are based on what the overall facial profile is which would be affected by the jaw surgery. If you decide not to undergo jaw surgery then one could proceed to have the...
Can I shower the week after my Tummy Tuck, with the drain tube and pain pump?
Check in with your surgeon
Mar 9, 2015
Post operative instructions vary from doctor to doctor based on how they do the procedure and their experience. I would recommend checking in with your surgeon as what I may recommend may not be what they recommend.
How good are the results of Laser Liposuction as compared to regular Liposuction? Is down time and co
Types of liposuction
Aug 13, 2014
As many have already answered it is the surgeon that will make the difference in you outcome and not the technique. It has been my experience that if I show photos of people who have undergone different techniques for liposuction that no one has been able to tell me what technique was used to achieve the result. It has not made a difference if I showed the photos to other patients, non-medical personnel or other physicians.I typically use traditional suction assisted liposuction as it is a...
I'm going to get a rhinoplasty and breast lift/augmentation at the same time. How long will the surge
Combined rhinoplasty and breast augmentation
Aug 7, 2014
This question is best answered by the surgeon you choose for your procedure. The time of the procedure will depend on the surgical plan. The answer to your question about recovery is also best addressed to your surgeon as each will have their own individualized post operative instructions based on what was done and their own experience with the patients they treat.Good luck with you surgery.
