What type of birthmark is this? And can I get it removed?
Birthmark removal
Dec 29, 2021
Hi and thank you for sharing photos of your birthmark!Linear birthmarks on the face are often diagnosed as epidermal nevi. A board-certified dermatologist can confirm the diagnosis in an office visit. Options for elective removal include ablative laser resurfacing, shave removal or other destructive methods. I find these to be satisfying to treat for both physician and patient.
What would help my acne scars? TCA Cross? This has been shattering to my self-esteem
Combination treatment for acne scars
Dec 29, 2021
Hi and sorry to hear you are feeling self-conscious. Your skin is beautiful!Acne scars are complex and usually multiple modalities are necessary to address different scar types. TCA CROSS is best used for truly ice pick scars and needs to be performed with exquisite care to avoid a widened transformation of the scar.Nonablative laser resurfacing, microneedling, PRP, and small amounts of filler can improve boxcar-type scars in darker skin types. Multiple treatments are the rule, and…
Is sculptra appropriate for patients in their 20s?
Sculptra in your 20s
Feb 1, 2017
This is an excellent question. Sculptra can absolutely be done in your 20s to correct facial hypotrophy (that is, replace areas where your bone and/or fat are insufficient) to give soft volume to facial features. You are correct that it works in a very different manner than Voluma. Prepare for multiple vials at multiple treatment sessions, and always seek service from a board-certified dermatologist or plastic surgeon. Best of luck in your endeavors!
I have bad acne scars; how can I STOP them and get rid of them permanently?
Acne specialist care
Jan 11, 2017
Your concern is actually very common. Plenty of people cannot control acne with over the counter ingredients. Consult a board-certified dermatologist for evaluation of acne severity and to discuss appropriate treatment options. Best of luck!
I’ve taken 40mg of isotretinion drug for 9mo. What’s a safe duration before getting pregnant t
Isotretinoin and pregnancy
Dec 10, 2016
Females must wait at least 30 days after your last dose of isotretinoin before attempting to become pregnant. Males must wait at least 30 days from their last dose before attempting to get a female pregnant. Discuss with your doctor your plans for pregnancy!
Remedy for green patch on my face caused by bleaching cream?
Ochronosis as a side effect of hydroquinone
Nov 3, 2016
It appears you may have a condition known as ochronosis, a well-known side effect of using topical hydroquinone for many years. Discontinue all use of hydroquinone-containing products immediately, and consult with a dermatologist for diagnosis. Q-switched lasers may be able to improve the appearance, but are difficult with your background skin color. Total resolution is unlikely.
Hematoma after receiving Juvederm injection in August?
Suspicious skin growths
Nov 1, 2016
Seek immediate evaluation by a board-certified dermatologist. This is not a hematoma. Hematomas do not last that long and do not look anything like the bump in your nasolabial fold.
