Tip Rhinoplasty and Slight Asymmetry
Tip Rhinoplasty Asymmetry
Jul 5, 2012
It sounds as though you had a endonasal approach to the tip of the nose as opposed to an external approach. I am assuming the photos included are the preoperative views. Even with this type of approach it is still very early in the process of healing to make any decisions on whether or not you will need additional surgery. Having a discussion early with your surgeon regarding your concerns is helpful. Ask them to lay out a plan including a time frame for you in the…
I Met with an Accident and the Lateral Part of the Eyelid is Deformed. Is There Any Surgical Re
Minimizing Scar Formation of the Eyelid
Jul 5, 2012
While you may be going through a normal healing process which can take over one year you also maybe developing excessive scar formation which will not respond to the Mederma you are using. If the latter is the case then I think it would be in your best interest if you be evaluated sooner than later by specialist within Dermatology, Facial Plastic Surgery, Oculoplastic Surgery or Plastic Surgery. There are many treatments that can be utilized to minimize the appearance…
Botox Side Effects Vs. Allergic Reaction?
Brow Dropping after Botox Treatment
Jun 20, 2012
More likely than not you are a person who is used to elevating you eyebrow naturally giving rise to your forehead wrinkles, the reason you moved forward with Botox therapy. When small amounts of Botox are placed in the frontalis muscle, the muscle responsible for elevating your brow and giving rise to your wrinkles, the muscle relaxes. Your wrinkles improve and your brow position remains in a more natural position. When to much Botox is injected the brow drops or…
Is It Possible to Shorten the Nose with Rhinoplasty but Keeping the Tip Untouched?
Rhinoplasty to Shorten the Over Projected Nose
Jun 18, 2012
Shortening the nose can be done by increasing rotation (lifting the tip up) or or de projecting (bringing the tip closer to your face) and or a combination of both. This can be accomplished either using a external or open approach or an endonasal “closed” approach and would be dictated by your surgeon as to which they felt would give you the best overall result. Depending on the anatomy of your nose you may not need to modify the tip of your nose.
Rhinoplasty Steroid Injection Placement?
Post Rhinoplasty Steroid Injection
Jun 11, 2012
It is not uncommon to have a steroid injected into the nose following a rhinoplasty. This is typically done to reduce swelling on the outside of the nose in particular the tip. A single injection site may be used or multiple small sites may be used. Typically the steroid is deposited where you want the effect however to avoid a second injection site and less pain they may have done it through a single injection site. It is. It uncommon to repeat the steroid…
Ear Surgery to Reduce Earlobe Size?
Youthful Ear Lobes by Ear Lobe Reduction
Sep 21, 2011
Elongated ear lobes are frequently associated with aging. Treatment of the aged ear lobe is a relatively straight forward office procedure performed using a local injection anesthetic. The cost will vary among clinics and experience for our office the charge is $500. For those individuals who also have prominent ears and are considering undergoing otoplasty it is very common for the ear lobe to be flared or rotated forward almost lying horizontal rather than hanging…
Post-Op Otoplasty, Should I Use Vaseline on the Wound to Avoid Scarring?
Post Operative Otoplasty Care
Sep 21, 2011
I would try to contact your surgeons staff who may be able to provide you with the typical recommendations your surgeon has for managing post operative surgical sites. There are a number of options ( from nothing to Peroxide and Ointments, to covering the wound) for treating post operative wounds and this is dependent on the surgeon and their preference and experience of what they think works best. In general wound healing occurs faster/better when there is no…
Recovery Time for Deviated Septum Surgery
Recovery Following Septoplasty
Sep 7, 2011
Depending on whether or not your surgeon places packing and how much is placed inside of your nose following septal surgery, you may notice some external swelling which should subside shortly ie., a day or two after the packing is removed. There is typically no bruising related to the surgical portion but depending on how your surgeon anesthetizes your nose you can get some bruising from the injections.
Are the Results Typically Subtle or Dramatic After Having Septoplasty to Correct a Saddle Defor
Septoplasty will not correct a saddle nose deformity.
Sep 7, 2011
A septoplasty is commonly performed to improve nasal breathing. A septoplasty can be performed to straighten the middle nasal vault or cartilaginous bridge of the nose but this in itself will not correct the deformity of a saddle nose. It is not uncommon to use cartilage harvested during a septoplasty to reconstruct a saddle nose deformity typically to create an 'L" strut to support the nose and also build up the deficiency of the nasal bridge, if…
How Much Does Botox Cost?
BOTOX Cosmetic Pricing
Aug 24, 2011
There is incredible variability in the price of BOTOX Cosmetic among medical clinics, spas, etc., within the same cities and states and who is doing the injecting. In my opinion the most cost effective way to purchase BOTOX Cosmetic for patients is to purchase by the UNIT. If you are younger and have less noticeable lines than say an individual who is in their 60's you should require less units. Why pay by the "area" you may need less than the…
Is It Illegal for Doctors to Purchase “Botox” from Canada?
It is Illegal to Purchase BOTOX
Aug 24, 2011
It is illegal for any US practioner (MD, PA, RN etc.) to purchase Allergan BOTOX from sources outside the US, have it shipped to them in the US and then inject into patients. Each vial of Allergan BOTOX has a serial/lot number and a hologram. These can be used to determine if the BOTOX was originally sold within the US or outside of the US. If you are concerned about the legitimacy of the BOTOX Cosmetic that you are recieving you should ask…
Considering a Subtle Rhinoplasty. Opinions Please!
Considering Nasal Surgery
Jun 8, 2011
Your facial proportions appear to be well balanced. From the photos I would agree that a conservative reduction of the fullness in the dorsum or bridge of your nose along with elevation of the nasal tip and narrowing of the tip or lower lateral cartilages along with transection or disruption of the muscles that make your nose dip down when you smile and talk would be beneficial as well. Aesthetically this will give you a more feminine appearance. In my opinion you…
Slightly Bulbous Nose 6 Months After Artefill
Artefill for Correction of the Nasal Tip
Feb 13, 2011
The fact that Artefill does have a resorbable carrier or bovine collagen you may see some slight reduction in the bulbousness of your nasal tip with additional time.  Even though it has been 6 months since you have had any injections into the tip of your nose I would caution against attempting to inject steroids as likely the current problem is not related to an inflammatory reaction and there is a chance you could make things worse by creating more asymmetry.  If the…
Best Long Term Filler – or Should I Try Ulthera?
Ulthera-vs-Fillers or Both
Feb 12, 2011
Based on your photo it seems that most of your issue is in the midface and is lack of volume. While Ulthera can provide some lifting in he midface, I think the most predictable option for you is adding a filler. This will also reduce the depression of the cheek fold. Furthermore if you end up with a slight loss of subcutaneous fat after Ulthera you may find yourself requiring more volume to achieve the result you are looking for. Both of the fillers you…
Is Numbness a Side Effect of Ultherapy?
Skinnumbness following Ulthera
Feb 12, 2011
The symptoms that you are experiencing are not from the nerve block.  It is not uncommon in the period following Ulthera that you may experience transient numbness.  In our practice we have not had any patients that had the symptoms persist for more than two weeks.  Having had the procedure myself, I had a single area on my forehead that did affect the sensory nerve over a small portion and it was about 10 days before it resolved.
