Answer Snippet
How much Restylane would I need to fix one of my tear troughs?
Tear Troughs and HA fillers
Jun 15, 2017
Tear trough deformities can often be softened with only 1mL of Restylane or a similar product. With any filler it is always better to “go slow” and add more as needed. Our office uses a cannula for injection to decrease the risk of bruising and swelling post injection. Any filler not used in the tear troughs could be used to soften naso-labial folds or another area of concern
Is it safe to have Restylane injections, chemical peels, and microdermabrasions while pregnant?
Pregnancy and Cosmetic Treatments
Jun 15, 2017
Studies have not been done to conclude how injectables and chemical peels affect a developing fetus so we do not recommend having these procedures done while pregnant. You should also consult with your primary care physician and OBGYN if you would like to have any procedures performed while breast feeding.
1064nm laser. Does a man's beard area have to be avoided?
Laser Genesis vs. IPL
Jun 15, 2017
Laser Genesis targets water and blood (wrinkles and redness) in the skin whereas IPL targets pigment (dark spots) that can also pick up pigment in the hairs causing hair loss. Laser Genesis does not target pigment and hair removal is generally not achieved. We ask our male patients to shave the day of the procedure as surface hairs can singe, be slightly uncomfortable and produce an unpleasant “burning hair” aroma.
Is it necessary to use medicines, multivitamins or medicated shampoo after FUE hair transplant?
DHT Interrupting Ingredients/Medicines Post FUE Procedure
Mar 3, 2017
Medicated shampoos that inhibit the activity of DHT and medicines like Monoxidil help to enhance the procedure and prevent future miniaturization of the hair follicles, however not using them will not have an adverse effect on the procedure itself as long as you were originally found to be a good FUE method candidate (stable hair loss for at least a year, family history of men not completely balding) you should still have a nice result from FUE method alone. Always follow your physician’s d...
Is it ok to scratch slightly my scalp after 2 weeks of hair transplant?
FUE Proper Post Care
Mar 3, 2017
We do not recommend “scratching” off scabs, but rather supporting the body in naturally shedding the scab once the implantation has taken place post procedure. We recommend our patients begin gently washing the scalp about 48 hours post procedure to begin the healing process with a gentle baby shampoo. You can experience itching around newly implanted grafts, we recommend our patients fill a small bottle with sterile saline and spray the grafted area 3-4 times a day to ease discomfort, red...
One week post op, can I take clippers to donor area?
1st Haircut Post FUE Procedure
Mar 3, 2017
One of the most wonderful things about the FUE method is how quickly patients are able to return to their normal daily activities. To answer your question about clippering the donor area 8 days post procedure, we would recommend waiting a full 14 days post procedure to receive your first haircut to allow the area to fully heal. Continue to be very gentle with the grafts as the first few weeks are very important for the proper implantation of the hair follicle. When combing the hair, use an...
What is neograft hair restoration and do you offer it to your patients?
Neograft Hair Transplant Procedure
Feb 7, 2017
The Neograft procedure is an advanced, FDA-approved, minimally invasive hair transplantation technique. During the procedure, a technique known as Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) is utilized to harvest your own hair from the back of your head with the help of the Neograft machine. The follicular units, which contain 1-4 hairs each, are then transplanted to the areas on the head where hair has been lost. The use of the neograft machine in conjunction with highly...
