Of course, follow your postoperative instructions, because every surgeon has their preferences and reasons for why they ask you to do and not do certain things. I tell my patients not to bend, lift,strain or blow your nose for 10 days. You can blow gently out of both sides, but don’t hold one side and blow until 6 weeks. They will have a splint on for 5 days and tape for another 5, so don’t get either of these wet in the shower. No eyebrow plucking or threading…

If your concerns are only functional, insurance may cover some of your costs, however it will not cover any cosmetic portion. You should talk to your surgeon about the changes that you have seen in your nose. It seems that you may have developed a pollybeak deformity, which can happen months after surgery. This can respond well to things like steroid injections that your surgeon can administer.

You should bring this up to your surgeon. He/she will know exactly what was done during the surgery and will be able to fully evaluate it. This early after a surgery, you can have swelling that will resolve and may change the way that this looks.

You will get the best answer from a consultation with a plastic surgeon who is comfortable with revision rhinoplasties. However, an over-rotated or “piggy” nose can be corrected with a caudal septal replacement graft or extended spreader graft. Keep in mind that the amount of de-rotation that can be achieved can be limited by the elasticity in the nasal skin.

You are very early after surgery. Your nose is still very swollen, so it is difficult to make an accurate assessment about it. Hang in there! You will be able to tell more as the swelling goes down.

It is unlikely that you caused permanent changes in your nose or septum by pressing on it. It takes a fair amount of force to cause this type of change. You can have an Otolaryngologist evaluate your septum and your breathing concerns.
