What kind of Doctor should remove a head lipoma?
Head Lipoma
May 9, 2017
In general, the vast majority of lipomas are completely benign. On the face and neck, the scalp is a very common location for lipoma growth. You are definitely in good hands seeing either a board-certified facial plastic surgeon or board-certified plastic surgeon. It is important to remove the lipoma in total to prevent recurrence. Even if it requires a larger incision, the scalp tissue heals well.
Do not worry to much about it. It should still be very straight-forward to remove!
The right side has line of bone which can be felt and seen. Should I be worried?
Concerns about the right side of your nose after rhinoplasty
May 9, 2017
Thank you for your question. To start, 12 days after rhinoplasty is very early in the healing process. There is still major post-operative swelling. I agree with you that the right side appears to be asymmetrically swollen is comparison to the left. It may have been a more difficult side to adjust and thus more swollen. However, I think you should discuss this with your surgeon within the next several days. The nasal bones at this point are still mobile and small adjustments can still…
Does my incision sight look normal? I am 5 days post-op.
Nasal incision 5 days after surgery
May 9, 2017
Good afternoon! It is difficult to tell from the pictures about your columellar incision. The incision is covered with the tape around the tip of your nose. Signs of infection of the area however are increasing tenderness at the base of the nose, increasing redness to the skin around the incision, and increasing foul-smelling drainage. Please ask the office of your surgeon first but some gentle cleaning of the area with half-strength hydrogen peroxide on a Q-tip may help eliminate the blood…
Great result after cast removal then swollen a few days later.
Swollen after cast removal
Apr 25, 2017
Good afternoon!
Swelling after cast removal is absolutely normal. The cast provides nice compression of the area while in place. After cast removal, swelling will inevitably return. As other physicians have answered, this may take weeks to months to subside completely. The greatest amount of the swelling after rhinoplasty will be gone after 6 weeks. Gradually, over the course of a year or so you will notice small changes as the remaining swelling departs.
Certain activity…
Will I have a noticeable scar with my alar reduction?
Alar reduction healing
Apr 18, 2017
Good afternoon! It looks like your surgeon did both a meticulous job with closure!! It is not uncommon to have differences in healing from one side to the other. You are still very early in the healing process. The incisions are placed in areas that camouflage well after complete healing. Please make sure to let your surgeon know your concerns. Overall, it appears to be healing quite well!
Rhinoplasty cast and splints on/in for 14 days. Is this ok?
Splints and Cast for 14 days
Apr 11, 2017
Good morning! Do not worry about having the splints in for 14 days! Splints can be left for varying amounts of time between 7 to 14 days. It will not affect the end result at all. There are many occasions where splints will be left for 14 days on purpose for healing. Do make sure you keep taking antibiotics while the splints are in place. Happy healing.
is it normal for one side of cheek to be slightly more swollen than the other post buccal fat
Buccal Fat Removal
Apr 10, 2017
Thank you for your question. It is very, very common to have differences in swelling from one side to the other after surgery. It can be from a variety of factors including the need for more fat removal on one side, the removal of the fat from the right cheek may have been a little more tedious, or you may have slept towards that side. Continue all your medications as instructed. Let your surgeon know your concerns for reassurance. This type of swelling usually works…
Wearing of neck garment after chin lipo
Neck Support after Liposuction
Apr 10, 2017
Good morning!! Do not worry at all about forgetting to wear the neck support for the weekend trip away. The neck support is there to help limit swelling and fluid accumulation immediately after surgery. It also assists with helping the skin re-drape to the underlying tissue. Continue for now as the doctor recommended but do not worry yourself about it. The end result will again not be influenced.
Big scar after rhinoplasty and sidewall collapsed
Scarring after rhinoplasty
Apr 10, 2017
Good morning! I am sorry to here about your concerns with the rhinoplasty surgery. I certainly hope you can have a more open discussion of the details of the rhinoplasty with your surgeon. It is needed for sure. In all surgeries, it is possible for good surgeons to have untoward events. If one did occur, it should be discussed openly with the patient. I am not sure about the details of your particular surgery or what your nose looked like prior to the surgery. However, it would be…
I broke my nose yesterday – permanent bump?
Broken Nose after sparring fun
Apr 10, 2017
I am sorry to hear about your nasal injury after sparring! The nasal bones are fairly easy to break even with minimal contact. In most instances, nasal bone injury leads to nasal bleeding, swelling around the eyes with possible bruising, difficulty with nasal breathing, and a possible change to the external appearance of the nose. If the nasal bones are displaced (meaning out of position), there will be a change to the external appearance as you noted. These fractures should be fixed….
What are the signs and symptoms of a broken nose?
Concerns for a broken nose
Jan 10, 2017
It is certainly easy to “break” the nasal bones. The nasal bones are fairly thin and occupy a prominent position on our face. Many of us have probably cracked that nasal bone at some point in our lives and not sought medical help. The question after trauma to the nose and a possible “break” in the nasal bone is whether the bones are out of position. The nasal bones can be broken but still well aligned (non-displaced) and not require surgical repair. Or, the bones can be…
7 weeks post-op:, nose is very swollen so I taped it at home, will this affect the shape? (ph
Taping nose after rhinoplasty
Jan 3, 2017
Surgical taping of the nose after rhinoplasty is a common practice to reduce swelling and scarring. The process of taping the nose and the length of time for taping will depend upon your surgeon’s preference as previously authors have noted. Check to see his or her thoughts. However, it is not uncommon to have days where the swelling has appeared to increase. It could be in relation to many factors including your salt intake with diet, an increase in physical activity,…
12 days post bull horn lip lift, incision problems?
Incision Recovery
Jan 3, 2017
It is not uncommon for certain patients to be allergic to the components in the antibiotic ointment after extended use. It can cause redness and irritation to the area where the ointment is applied. It may be worth discussing this with your plastic surgeon to find an alternative to the ointment if your concerns continue. You are very early in the healing and things should improve soon. Thank you!
Would getting a nose job change my looks in a way that worth the surgery?
Rhinoplasty Expectations
Jan 3, 2017
Rhinoplasty is truly a surgery individualized to a patient’s face. For the best advice, consider an office consultation with a rhinoplasty surgeon. This visit will allow the surgeon to perform a face to face examination and take standardized photographs of the nose and face for complete facial analysis. It will also help you describe your concerns to the surgeon. There are computer programs that allow photographs to be altered to give a patient an idea of the surgical outcome. The…
