Answer Snippet
How can I make my lips fuller and more symmetrical?
Deep Plane Lip Lift
Mar 5, 2021
A modified deep plane lip lift will give your lip a more full appearance and reduce the distance between your nose and lip. It can also potentially improve asymmetries and increase your tooth show on smiling. A consultation would help determine if you are a good candidate based on your dental and jaw anatomy. Good luck!
Can I purposely use a lip lift to lengthen my columella?
Depends
Dec 26, 2020
In general a lip lift and rhinoplasty can be done at the same time. However, this depends on the type of alarplasty that is needed and there are some limitations to this. A lip lift would not address the columellar retraction or nostril show. It seems your tip is underprojected and over-rotatated which also gives a perception of a longer lip. I recommend an in-person consultation with a revision rhinoplasty and lip lift expert to determine a realistic improvement. Good luck.
Am I a good candidate for a lip lift or lip reduction?
Thank you for your question.
Dec 15, 2020
Hello, I would recommend an in-office consultation to see if a lip lift would be beneficial. It seems you may have had some filler in the past which has migrated upward. A deep plane liplift can be customized to your anatomy and provide a long-lasting solution. Good luck!
What approach would you take with this very asymmetrical, upturned nose?
Thank you for your question
Nov 7, 2020
Hello, a rhinoplasty would first address the deviated septum causing a deviation both externally and internally. Once the septum is straightened, the tip cartilages would then be addressed. The tip needs to be de-projected and tip cartilages re-shaped to create more symmetry. Minimal cartilage would be removed. Finally, you have very thin skin so this would likely need camouflage. Good luck!
My nose is the one on the left. Right is what I would like. Would this be hard to achieve?
Rhinoplasty
Oct 18, 2020
You should consult with a surgeon that has experience will all types of noses. You would be a good candidate for a finesse rhinoplasty to improve the tip contour and position. An in-office consultation would be needed to determine a more customized surgical plan.
Looking for a specialized rhinoplasty surgeon who can work with a bulbous tip. Is this possible? (photos
Yes
Oct 16, 2020
Hello, thank you for your question. Yes a rhinoplasty can be performed to reshape the tip to make your nose more balanced. The tip cartilage would likely need to reduced in their overall length and convexity straightened.
Would it be worth it for me to get a lip lift? I’m a 26-year-old female.
Thank you for your question.
Oct 13, 2020
You would be a good candidate for a deep plane lip lift. The classic lip lift techniques may result in sub-optimal scarring and muscle function. With a deep plane release, there is minimal scarring and muscle function is maintained.
I have the thinnest and tiniest lips of anyone I know. Would I be a good candidate for lip lift?
Thank you for your question
Oct 13, 2020
It depends on what technique is used. A classic technique is simple removal of skin without a deep plane release. This will commonly result in unfavorable scarring and sub-optimal results. With advanced techniques, a 5 mm excision will have little effect on tooth show. A consultation will help determine the maximum amount of skin that can be safely removed.
Is my skin too thin for a rhinoplasty to treat my flared nostrils?
Yes
Oct 13, 2020
Thin-skinned patients present unique challenges but a variety of techniques can be used to as camouflage if needed. An in-person consultation would help determine which changes can be realistically attained with a rhinoplasty.
What can be done to make my nose look more proportional?
Yes
Oct 13, 2020
Thank you for your question. In some cases the dorsal hump may be sculpted without breaking the bones to achieve the desired result. A significant hump reduction would require a controlled in-fracture of the nasal bones.
Will a lip lift address the corners of my upper lip? 23/F
Yes
Sep 15, 2020
A deep plane lip lift combined with a corner lift would help create a more balanced appearance. This would address all aspects of your upper lip.
Am I good candidate for a surgical (bullhorn) lip lift and what are the risks?
Yes
Aug 12, 2020
You would be a suitable candidate for a lip lift. Based on the photo, it looks like you may have had some prior lip filler. This may need to be dissolved prior. An in-person consultation can help determine that.
When do you need to use cartilage grafts to lift the tip? And how is the tip lifted without these?
Cartilage grafts
May 3, 2019
Thank you for your question. There are a number of techniques to lift the tip. This will depend on a number of factors including the strength and position of the septum. In general a long caudal septum with adequate strength can be used to support and lift the tip. In patients with a short and weakened septum, cartilage grafts are necessary to provide support. An in-office consultation with a board certified surgeon can help answer your question. Good luck.
Do you need a nose job if you have a Deviated Septum?
No
Feb 22, 2019
Hi JustAGirl, the short answer is no. However, a deviated septum comes in different varieties. An ENT without rhinoplasty experience can only address the simple type. If there are any issues near the bridge or the front of the nose, a septorhinoplasty may be required to straighten the nose. In some cases where there is significant deviations in multiple areas, the septum needs to be rebuilt. It is hard to complete answer your questions without photographs but an in-office consultation with a…
What are your opinions on my strange hooked-like swelling after surgery?
Tip Swelling
Feb 22, 2019
Tip swelling can last for up to one year. However, you should have a pretty good idea regarding tip shape even at 1 month. If your tip has a similar shape 3 months after surgery, you may have a slight pollybeak deformity. Steroids can certainly help in cases where swelling/soft tissue excess is the main problem Maintain follow-up with your surgeon and be open about your concerns. Best of luck.
