Facelift Scheduled in March. Is It Normal to Have Alot of Anxiety?I Have a Great Doctor….b
Facelift Preparations
Feb 21, 2012
Anxiety is a very natural and healthy emotion experienced before surgery. Having a facelift can be a life changing experience for many patients. General anesthesia is very safe… especially in healthy patients.
IPL or Active FX For Mild Acne Scars, Fine Lines and Enlarged Pores?
Laser for acne
Feb 17, 2012
This is a great question and one that is frequently asked. There are many different types of lasers out there… so they can get quite confusing. Simply put, if you are trying to change the skin texture or tone, then a fractionated ablative laser (like the CO2 laser.. Active/DeepFX) is the laser of choice. Active FX refers to how lightly the laser is applied to the skin. The deeper the resurfacing, the better the result but with more downtime and side effects….
Is the Method of Fixation Different for a Facelift?
Types of Facelifts
Feb 14, 2012
There are many types and techniques to doing a "facelift" surgery. The most long lasting and natural results are those that reposition tissues and allow those tissues to heal in that position. Relying on a suture or a thread or some other device makes "less invasive" techniques much more prone to failure. Repositioning the SMAS is now the most accepted way to maintain a lift. This can also be done in different ways with great results…. not one…
Dented Nose Bridge, Deformed Side Profile and Bottom Bigger then Top After Third Surgery, Wh
Multiple revisions
Feb 14, 2012
This is a tough question to answer. Every time the nose is operated on… the more scar tissue develops. This makes things much more difficult each time you go to the OR. Subtle dents may be corrected with soft tissue filler. This may be where you are headed.
Is a Revision Rhinoplasty Worth It?
revision rhinoplasty
Feb 14, 2012
I agree with the others… it is really way too early to determine what the final outcome will be. The difference in swelling from the 1st month to the 3rd month can really be quite dramatic. When it comes to the nose, even 1-2mm of swelling can be a major change. Hang in there.
Is it possible to have a nose job if you are on a medicine for a disorder?
Rhinoplasty and medications
Jul 19, 2010
There are certain blood thinning medications that are not recommended before surgery.  As for medications for systemic disorders, it can vary.  However, most daily medications are continued throught your surgerical course.
Can fillers be used to straighten the dip in nose profile?
Fillers can be used to change the shape of the nose
Dec 16, 2009
Fillers can be used in some circumstances to augment certain parts of the nose. A supra-tip depression, similar to yours, would be something that can be improved with fillers alone. It appears that the rest of your nose has a good shape…so a filler may be a good choice.
Realistic expectation on Rhinoplasty for patients with thick skin?
Rhinoplasty and skin type
Nov 25, 2009
It does not appear that your nose has the typical thick skin that makes rhinoplasty more difficult. These patients are mostly older with more sebaceous (oily) skin. The skin thinkness just makes the work done underneath show up less. Therefore, less defined.
In your case, you should not have this problem. A bulbous tip would be an easy thing to correct. Also, since you broke your nose in the past, you may also have some functional problems that may be reimbursed by your insurance…
Lip lift possible despite an overbite?
Lip Lift
Sep 23, 2009
This is a great question. It brings up a very important issue that should be addressed in everyone prior to lip lift procedures. The "vertical excess" of the maxilla, or the length of the upper jawbone, may be a predominant factor in patients with a long upper lip. Lifting this lip will certainly expose more of the upper teeth. If you have this finding, then the lip lift may accentuate the problem. Once the height of the maxilla is reduced, then the lip lift may become that…
Revision Rhinoplasty for recurring bump?
Revision Rhinoplasty
Sep 14, 2009
The nose continues to change many years after a rhinoplasty procedure. There may be subtle changes that come about with time. Sometimes, unless properly addressed during the first operation, the tip of the nose may lose support over time. This is sometimes a cause for a recurring hump in the mid to upper portion of the nose. Without evaluating your nose it is difficult to determine the cause. I would think that a small bump could easily be addressed with a revision procedure….
Non-surgical way to restore volume in midface?
Midface fillers
Jun 1, 2009
I agree with the others. Fillers are the best option for treatment. However, some fillers are better than others. Scuptra in my opinion is not a good choice if you are using it close to the thin skin of the lower eyelid. The hyaluronic acid fillers are great… Restylane probably being my choice. The injections should be done by an experienced physician. The fillers should also be placed as deep to the skin as possible to avoid lumpiness. Volume is what you are trying to acheive…. not r
Cost of Rhinoplasty for nose tip?
Cost of rhinoplasty
May 29, 2009
This is a great question. The cost of a rhinoplasty can depend on a variety of factors. The most important factor is the experience and expertise of the surgeon. In general, you get what you pay for. Some rhinoplasty procedures are "finesse" rhinoplasties. They correct small problems such as the one you describe. However, these are not necessarily easy to perform. In fact, they may be much more difficult, because of the level of detail and "finesse" that is…
Asymmetry after Mini Lift and Botox
Healing After Minilift Procedures
May 29, 2009
For the most part, minilifts are simple skin lifts that involve a small incision around the ears with a small amount of skin removed creating a lift along the jawline. There are many different techniques to doing this. Some may be more invasive than others. It is not unusual to have uneven puffiness related to facial procedures. You should not be experiencing problems with movement of the eyes or lips unless there is nerve damage.
It is unlikely that the facial nerve, which act on the…
Why can I feel the Juvederm thread under my skin?
Feeling fillers?
May 27, 2009
Thanks for your question. It can be normal to feel the filler material in the first few days after the injection. This should resolve. However, if the filler was injected too close to the skin surface, it may be felt for quite some time. This may not resolve until the filler goes away… up to a year. A light massage to this area could help.
Treatment for excess skin that can be pulled out?
Excess facial skin in a young person
May 23, 2009
Thanks for your question. Although it is difficult to tell by your picture, what you describe is typically what is seen in Ehlers-Danlos syndrome. This is a disorder of collagen in the skin that allows it to stretch very easily. Unfortunately, there is no cure for this syndrome. Even doing procedures that reduce the amount of skin will be short lived. You may want to discuss this with your doctor to determine if this is in fact what may be the cause. Another finding in this disease is…
