How to Make my Eyes More Even?
Young and Uneven
Jul 28, 2011
There are many subtle findings, that a good consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon would be able to identify for you and recommend the best treatment. I do believe the findings on the pictures can be due to a combination of muscle movement differences, bone, and soft tissue fullness differences. Typically, a combination of relaxant (Botox or Dysport) and filler to the brow can be very effective when done properly. A brow lift may be a more permanent option but significant skill...
Blepharoplasty Complications
There are many options when considering blepharoplasty
Apr 10, 2011
Blepharoplasty is one of the safest, effective procedures in plastic surgery. However, over the past 10 years we have seen a variety of options appear. The reality is most patients looking to make the area around the eyes look better have a number of options, from traditional surgery, to less invasive surgery, to non surgery. There are lasers, fillers, and even Botox/Dysport as options to consider in many cases, depending on how severe the problem is and the ultimate goals...
Is Keloid Scarring Possible Around the Eyes if Laser Resurfacing is Performed?
Eyelid Keloids/Extremely Unlikely
Apr 10, 2011
Scar and/or Keloid (uncontrolled, bad scar) formation with any type of procedure is possible and the eye is no exception.  It used to be thought that the eyelid is protected from Keloid scar formation but I saw a  case recently,  a case referred to me by another surgeon after they performed eyelid plastic surgery.  While I am not aware of a Keloid case after lower eyelid laser treatment, if the treatment is invasive enough in a super high risk patient, it could be...
Has the Eyelid Surgery Worked?
Early Eyelid Asymmetry after Ptosis Surgery
Feb 22, 2011
A 1 mm difference in the appearance of the eyes after ptosis surgery was performed 3 months ago is not bad.  There are natural healing events going on and I would definitely give at least 9 to 12 months before considering anything more.  In addition, there is a natural adjustment phase due to differences in muscle strength for the eye opening muscles, usually one side is slightly stronger than the other.
Lower Eyelid Swelling / Eye Asymmetry After Blepharoplasty
Eyelid swelling after blepharoplasty
Feb 16, 2011
A patient is really at the baby phase of healing 3 weeks after a blepharoplasty.  You see the greatest change in swelling, after blepharoplasty, during the first 6 weeks of recovery.  I would definitely recommend you not worry and give everything more time.  I typically wait until 3 months to get my first set of post operative pictures, I do not consider the results final until 12 months.  Your photos are blurry on my computer but I am optimistic for you.
How Long Does Tip Swelling and Hardness Last?
Tip Swelling
Feb 16, 2011
Depending on how thick your skin is, tip swelling after rhinoplasty can last more than 16 months. I have treated patients on African, Latin, and Asian decent who required steroid injections into the tip of their nose to make the swelling go down faster. Bottom line, I would not panic, give everything time. If you surgeon is comfortable and feels it is in your best interest, you may consider a very small dose steroid injection if the swelling is severe. I...
How Do I Remove Restylane Irregularities in Lips 5 Months After Injection?
Bumps on the lips
Feb 14, 2011
Even though it has been 5 months, it is possible you still have Restylane in the lips.  If you have bumps on the lips you do not like, I would suggest contacting your plastic surgeon or dermatologist.  They can use a product called hyaluronidase to melt the residual Restylane, even after 5 months.  This will be a good potential start to help your concern.
Hump After Nose Job
Hump after rhinoplasty
Feb 14, 2011
It is possible that you have some swelling in the area of surgery that needs time to get better.  For this reason, I sometimes tape the nose after I remove the splint to help minimize this occurrence.  I would suggest you not worry unless it seem to stay exactly the same for the next 3 to 6 months.  If so, often a minor revision should take care of it.
Laser Blepharoplasty Vs. Surgery
It is the athlete not the equipment!
Feb 13, 2011
When looking at blepharoplasty, the surgeon is the most important variable not the equipment used.  Lasers can be dangerous, as they cause heat and heat can lead to burns that can distort the eyelids or injure the eyeball.  Make sure your surgeon has experience, significant experience, before he/she does your surgery.  Sometimes, both techniques can be used together, using the laser to tighten the skin of the lower eyelid instead of removing it.
How Long Does Dry Eye Last After Eyelid Revision?
Eye looks better but it is dry
Feb 13, 2011
Some temporary dryness of the eyes is common after blepharoplasty and responds very well to lubricating eye drops.  However, with ptosis dry eyes are almost always the rule. When the eyes are not open completely the amount of tear needed to keep them moist is less.  When the eyes are surgically opened more, the water on the eye is able to evaporate more and the eyes can become dry.  It is really important to increase the moisture on the surface of the eye to prevent...
Revision Blepharoplasty with Grafted Fat Removal - Options?
Complicated eye problems need experience!
Feb 13, 2011
I regret to hear your situation Fat injection can be a great tool, but it must be used with caution around the eye! Injected fat around the eye can be very frustrating to remove or improve. I would avoid steroid and/or related injections to melt unwanted fat, I have seen horrible complications as a result.  As a specialist in eyelid surgery, I see several patients a year, referred to me,  with stories like yours and I have helped them to get back their aesthetic.  I...
Any Medical Procedure Available to Remove Capsular Scars and Scars from Incision Site?
Deformity of the breast is not what you want!
Feb 13, 2011
Your implant pocket appears to be very close to the surface of the skin.  In addition, you have scar that distorts the breast.  I like to use a material called acellular dermis, either strattice or alloderm, as an interface between the implant space and the more superficial tissue.  In this kind of case, it is really important to make sure the implants are under the muscle as well!!  The most important detail is finding a surgeon experience in revision breast...
Eyelid Hollowness After Upper / Lower Blepharoplasty
Eyes look older after blepharoplasty
Feb 12, 2011
Loss of volume in the upper eyelid with aging is normal and requires specific treatment to make it better.  If you are not happy after your blepharoplasty and feel hollowed out, there are a number of options.  It may not be your doctors fault,  but the loss of fat volume in the eye with aging is normal.  After waiting at least 6 months post surgery, you may be a candidate for either hyaluronic acid filler injection or fat injection. I have done both and the results...
Second Eyelid Surgery - Would It Fix My Problems?
Loss of eye definition
Feb 12, 2011
There are several issues at play here, Asian eyelid aesthetic, ptosis, and excessive loss of tissue on the upper eyelids.  This is a complicated set of issues and requires a plastic/oculoplastic surgeon specializing in these issues.  I have addressed such a set of problems both surgically and non surgically.  I have used fat injection, hyaluronic acid injections, and surgical repositioning in these types of cases with good results.  I depends on your specific anatomy...
Botox - Ten Days Later and I Feel As Though I Have Been Kicked in my Right Eye. Should I Be Worried?
Botox makes pain better not worse
Feb 12, 2011
Botox has been shown to make headaches better not worse after use in the forehead.  I would not expect pain after botox treatment.  You definitely want to see you doctor after treatment, both to make sure there is nothing unusual going on (often unrelated to the treatment) and to make sure you have an appropriate result and response.
