Freckles, or ephilides, can easily be removed with a CO2 laser and generally do not recur. Lentigos, also known as age spots, can also be treated, but often recur because the pigment is located deeper in the epidermis.

There are several lasers which can benefit the appearance of surgical scars. CO2 or Fraxel , in my opinion, yield the best results. I generally begin treatment 3 - 4 weeks after the sutures are removed and then repeat the treatments every 6 weeks until the desired results are obtained. The location of the scar plays a large part in the success obtained. Generally speakng, the more vascular an area (such as the face), the better the outcome.
