Hooked Nose Still Showing After Closed Rhinoplasty, Will It Improve?
Hooked nose after rhinoplasty
Mar 10, 2012
Early after surgery you are going to have swelling that will take time to resolve. Having said that, however, you should notice significant improvement in the overall shape and configuration of your nose postoperatively. It is essential that you talk to your surgeon about your concerns. Not knowing what you had done, I cannot comment on the specifics of your surgery, however you should be seeing improvement as the sweling continues to improve. Again, it is essential…
Doctor Refused to Give Me Rhinoplasty, Is This Normal?
Doctor refused my rhinoplasty request
Mar 10, 2012
There can be a number of reasons that a surgeon might refuse to do surgery. If the surgeon felt that your expectations were unrealistic or that their experience would not permit a good result then that is not the surgeon for you. Not every consultation ends with a surgical plan. I would suggest that you see other rhinoplasty surgeons and that if you have not done so; that you be as specific about what it is that you want to accomplish in changing the shape of your…
Candidate For Transconjunctival Blepharoplasty or Restylane Filler?
Filler or Blepharoplasty for puffy eyelids.
Aug 31, 2011
You have a fairly common problem that we see in young individuals who inherit a tendancy for early puffiness of the lower eyelids. This is fat that is bulging out due to a weak orbital septum. In cases like yours, a conservative transconjunctival blepharoplasty should correct the problem. In some cases, a prominent tear trough deformity also exists and this may require fat or filler injections to help camouflage this depression. In your case the tear trough or…
Would Restylane Be an Option over Rhinoplasty for a Boney Nose?
Fillers in the nose.
Aug 31, 2011
While hyaluronic acid fillers like Restylane and Juvederm can fill and soften facial features, care must be taken when injecting it into the skin and soft tissues of the nose. Because you have thin skin, the fillers are very unforgiving and will add bulk and fullness. Also they are not permanent and will require reinjection at 9months to a year. If you decide to go with fillers in the nose, small amounts should be injected with vigorous massage to make certain that you…
Is It Possible To Have The Bump Removed On My Nose Without Altering The Tip?
Removing hump without changing tip in rhinoplasty
Aug 4, 2011
I understand your desire to not alter the tip of your nose, however, if you remove the dorsal nasal hump it will actually make the nose appear longer because the bump on your nose breaks up the length of the dorsum visually and makes it look shorter. If you have the bump removed you should have the tip rotated upward to shorten the overall length of the nose as well. To do this you don't have to make the tip smaller or do any other major alterations to it, but your nose will…
Will an Asian Rhinoplasty Help Reduce Allergies?
Rhinoplasty and allergies
Aug 3, 2011
Allergies are caused by a defect in the nasal mucosa. Rhinoplasty won't change the allergies per se, but can improve the overall nasal airway and thus lessent the congestion and stuffiness associated with the allergies postoperatively. If you require medication to control allergies now that will not likely change after surgery.
Lagophthalmos – Suggestions?
Lagophthalmos
Aug 3, 2011
Your right lower lid is significantly lower than the left and the lid margin is below the inferior limbus (or lower border of the iris). You should have this re-evaluated to see if there is something else that can be done to correct this. The status of your graft should be evaluated and the cause of the lid malposition determined. Your lid crease is also higher on the left which also contributes to your lagophthalmos. Another opinion is in order. You…
Will This Bump Go Away if I Had a Diced Cartilage Rhinoplasty?
Nasal bump after diced cartilage rhinoplasty abroad
Aug 3, 2011
The photos don't tell the whole story. It is difficult to know if you have too much cartilage or persistent swelling. Certainly after one month you will stil have some swelling and it will take some time for that to go down. It is always best to see the surgeon who placed the implant to get the best answer as to what your nose will ultimately look like. If you are worried and are not able to see the surgeon (since he/she is in another country) you should see…
I Have Uneven Eyelids Most of the Time, Can I Get a Perminant Fix for Them?
Eyelid crease asymmetries
Aug 3, 2011
There are many causes for eyelid asymmetries. It is important to have this evaluated to make sure that you don't have something more serious. Some level of asymmetry is normal and is seen in the eyelids and other facial features.
Rhinoplasty a Year Ago and Still Bump on Bridge, Options?
Bump and wide nose after rhinoplasty
Aug 3, 2011
If you are a year out from surgery then there is not much that is going to help you with the problems you describe (wide nose, persistent bump, deviated septum) except more surgery. Unfortunately you will need a revision surgery to correct these things as they don't generally improve with additional time, especially after a year. Correcting the septum can improve your breathing. If done properly it should not affect the extenal appearance of the nose. If not…
Bridge is straight after cast is removed. Will the slight slope I wanted become more visible after
Swelling after rhinoplasty
Aug 3, 2011
Having just had the dressing removed, you are early in the healing process. Above all else you should discuss this with your surgeon to make sure that you were both on the same page with regard to the desired outcome. It will take some time to see what the final result will be. Swelling on the dorsum or bridge of the nose goes down sooner than the tip and so you should be able to tell early on if you are going to have the desired slope to your nose. …
Used Sunscreen and Still Had Sunburn After Rhinoplasty, Will this Do Anything Permanent?
Sunburn after rhinoplasty
Aug 3, 2011
Obviously you should always avoid sunburning after rhinoplasty. Aside from the skin cancer risk, UV exposure at levels to cause a sunburn create swelling in the skin and can delay the healing process. You should use a total sunblock such as zinc oxide. You should reapply often and wear a large brim hat to make sure that you get no sun exposure on the nose. I am not aware of any permanent damage that can occur from a mild sunburn after rhinoplasty.
Does Bringing in the Side Lower Bones of the Nose Affect the Airway in Any Way?
Narrowing the nasal bones and the nasal airway
Aug 3, 2011
When the nasal bones are narrowed you do run the risk of compromising the nasal airway. Essentially you are making the area smaller through which you are breathing. Depending on the amount of narrowing that is perfomed, you may have a sense of a tighter or more obstructed airway. Because the nasal bones are also attached to the cartilages just below them, as the bones are narrowed, they can bring in the upper lateral cartilages as well. This also can contribute to…
Sinus Headaches Only on the Right Side After Rhino/septoplasty with a Turbinate Reduction.
Problems after rhinoplasty
Aug 3, 2011
Headaches of the nature that you are describing are not that common this far out from surgery. Since you are having persistent headaches you should get in to see your surgeon who performed the surgery since he/she wil be the only one who really knows what was done and would be the best person to treat you. Additionally, most surgeons want to see their own patients after surgery, especially if they are having a problem.

Call the surgeon's office and ask to be…

I Am 22 Years Old with 2 Cm Earlobes They Are Not Really Big but I Would Love to Reduce Them a Bit
Male earlobe reduction
Aug 3, 2011
Earlobes can be reduced to more appropriately fit the rest of the ear and face. It is most often done in the setting of rejuventation procedures but can be done at any age. It is important that the incisions are well hidden so that they are not noticeable in the young patient such as yourself. Good luck.
