Is areola reduction worth it? What would you recommend for breast implants?
areolar reduction, breast augmentation
May 4, 2021
There are many factors to consider when contemplating breast augmentation and areolar reduction. To answer your first question, if you are dissatisfied with the size of your areola, I absolutely feel that I areolar reduction is worth it. That said, your areolar size will appear smaller if the volume of the breast is increased. Placing the implants under the muscle in a dual plane technique confers for the protective effect against capsular contracture while providing the added lifting of a…
Am I a candidate for rhinoplasty?
Rhinoplasty
Sep 22, 2020
Thank you for posting this question. Based solely on your photos, you are a candidate for rhinoplasty to address your concerns. In general, the more you’re trying to correct with a rhinoplasty the more complex the rhinoplasty becomes. My recommendation would be to consult with a BC/BE plastic surgeon well-versed in rhinoplasty. Thank you again! Hope this helps!Justin Booth MD
Can the abdominoplasty portion of a tram flap procedure result on pyloric stenosis?
complications after abdominoplasty
Jan 12, 2020
Thank you for your question. It is important to understand that a TRAM flap and an abdominoplasty are different operations, although the resulting abdominal scar appears similar. While it is possible to have bowel complications after either procedure, these are very rare, especially with abdominoplasty. And while there are risks associated with both procedures, pyloric stenosis is not a complication associated with either. My advice would be to consult with a plastic surgeon…
How could the price of fillers vary so drastically in the same city?
Filler Prices
Sep 8, 2019
That does seem like quite a difference- I would be sure you are comparing apples to apples!
Different fillers have different prices (i.e. restylane vs Juvederm products) and even products within the same filler family (Juvederm Ultra plus vs Vollure vs Voluma) have different costs. Another factor to consider is volume. Is this for 1 syringe, 2 syringes, 3…?
Having said that, $1200 for NLFs seems about the national average, if you’re getting 2 cc’s of Juvederm Ultra plus or…
Botox as chin implant? I want my chin bigger.
Chin Implants
Sep 7, 2019
Thank you for your question! It is somewhat difficult to analyze your chin from this photo, so my first recommendation would be an in-person consult with a BC/BE plastic surgeon.
Botox can correct chin dimpling from your mentalis muscle, but it will not give your chin volume or projection. In general, fillers can be used to augment the chin. Fillers are less invasive than a a chin implant or a osseous genioplasty; however, over time they can be more costly…
What procedures are recommended to achieve perky and symmetrical breasts with minimal/limited scarring
Best procedure to achieve symmetric, perky breasts
Aug 27, 2019
Thank you for your question and your photos! This is a very common question asked by our patients. Based on your photos, I would recommend a breast lift (Mastopexy) – with or without implants depending on your desired volume and projection. A mastopexy will also help address asymmetries. A lift is more invasive in terms of incisions/scars than augmentation alone, however. It is important to understand that there will be additional scar(s) on your breasts with a lift. There are…
How soon after a breast augmentation should I start massaging?
Massage after breast augmentation
Aug 17, 2019
This is a great question, one that was probably asked over 400,000 times in the U.S. last year with probably as many different responses/protocols.
Breast massage is a practice recommended by some surgeons to reduce the risk of capsular contracture. Conversely, there are other surgeons who feel breast massage may actually increase capsular contracture risk. Unfortunately, there is limited evidence to support either claim, nor is there compelling data to…
Do I need lipo or tummy tuck? I am 42, 5’5″, 138 lbs.
Tummy Tuck versus Lipo
Aug 9, 2019
Thank you for taking the time to submit this question as I think it is a very important one and one that is frequently asked.
Your question underscores the importance of an in-person consultation and open dialogue between you and your surgeon. Just by looking at your photos it appears you have abdominal wall laxity that will not be addressed with liposuction alone. However, depending on your goals and expectations you may be able to achieve the results you’re looking f…

Postoperative medications
Aug 8, 2019
Thank you for taking the time to post this very important question as it relates to almost everyone undergoing surgery!
The postoperative medication regimen depends on several factors including patient, procedure, and surgeon preference.
Particularly for procedures involving reduced mobility postoperatively, it is not uncommon to be prescribed an anticoagulant such as Lovenox. Prophylactic antibiotics are commonly prescribed as well, along with analgesics…
I had some sips of green tea by accident, 4 days before surgery. Will I be okay?
Should you tell your surgeon?
Aug 5, 2019
Preop instructions/protocols are given to help ensure your safety as well as optimize your operation and ultimately your results.
While having a few sips of tea 4 days before is not likely to have much much impact on your rhinoplasty, if this went against the Preop instructions, I would encourage you to communicate this to your surgeon.
I applied some lip fillers 1 year ago with Juvederm and have had a nodule above my lip since then. Wha
Treatment for filler nodules
Jun 27, 2019
Thank you for sharing this important question.
Nodules from HA fillers (Juvederm, Restylane, etc) can be managed in several different ways depending on the depth of injection and filler type as well as the time since injection.
Nodules can be aspirated, drained, excised or treated with an enzyme called hyaluronidase, administered via an injection. Occasionally capsules can form around filler nodules which require being ‘broken up’ with a…

Can filler be placed onto bone?
Jun 20, 2019
Short answer is yes, depending on the filler and what you are trying to correct. ‘Cheek fillers’ (I.e. juvederm Voluma) are frequently placed onto bone.
As always, if you are dissatisfied with or concerned regarding your results I would recommend following up with your provider to discuss your concerns.
How soon can I remove lip fillers?
How soon can Hyaluronidase be used?
Jun 15, 2019
Hyaluronidase can be used right away; however I would encourage you to be patient. Lips swell. Immediately after injection, the shape is a good indicator of what your result will be in s couple weeks, but even then they have begun to swell.
I’ve even had some first-time lip filler patients who were concerned the day after about the size of their lips come back in for more filler once swelling went down. Not all injections are perfect a…
More than 2 weeks after face filler (smile lines) and I have a bruise that is not fading away, is it p
Will bruising go away after filler injections?
Jun 15, 2019
Bruising after filler injection is very common and fortunately is not permanent. Although generally goes away with a couple weeks, it may last longer. Duration of bruising can be related to several things including the filler, location, quantity, depth as well as your genetics, skin quality, meds/supplements, etc. Also, anecdotally, nasolabial folds tend to stay bruised longer in my experience. Lastly, as you can tell from your photos, certain lighting…
