Restylane Nightmare, worried about proportion of my lips.

Hi and sorry you are having a negative experience. From the looks of your before picture, I would have opted to inject both upper and lower lips for global volumization of your lips instead of just focusing on the upper lip. However, with that said it is impossible to judge the final result from the above after picture, as you clearly have a significant amount of post-injection swelling. Swelling is common, with some patients and some products causing more swelling…
Hyperpigmentation/brown spots from acne: recommended treatment?
PIH
Feb 21, 2017
Based on your description, it sounds as though you have true post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation/hyperemia from your acne. As you may already know, the most important aspect is to control the acne and minimize new flares of your acne. So long as you avoid new acne, these older discolored spots should fade on their own with basic sun protection +/- topical retinoid. If, however, you are looking for faster improvement some safe options for someone of Asian descent include clear…

eyelid wrinkling

Hello and thank you for your question. For mild wrinkling, laxity, and bunching of skin on the eyelids, I usually start with Botox around the eyes to open and relax the muscles, in combination with either microneedling or a radiofrequency-based device. I think this is a good place to start, given your youth and lack of other textural issues. Best of luck.
Black spots on my face are spreading.

Hi and thank you for providing a picture. Although most hyperpigmentation on the face can easily be chalked up to benign cosmetic irregularities (melasma, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, lentigines, etc), I would make an appointment with a board certified dermatologist prior to proceeding with cosmetic treatment. The pattern and hue that is showing through in the picture suggests that there may be something else going on (medication-induced hyperpigmentation, etc),…

HI and thank you for your question. Providing a picture in this case would make all the difference. With that said, it is very common to have recruitment of other muscle groups when treating isolated areas of the face. I suspect that treating your glabella muscles may have caused unopposed recruitment of the nasalis muscles (the muscle that contributes to “bunny lines”), making these more pronounced. It is also possible that you may have always had overactive nasalis…

acne scarring
Feb 7, 2017
HI and thank you for your question. You have a combination of rolling and ice pick scars. Because of this, no single treatment will be the answer. You will likely need combination therapy, over a period of months to a year to get improvement. While it is certainly reasonable to get significant improvement in your skin texture, having perfectly smooth skin is not a realistic goal and you should understand this when setting treatment goals with your physician.
What would be best treatment for my type of acne scarring?

Feb 7, 2017
Thank you for your question and for providing pictures. From the pictures, it looks as though you have a mix of shallow box-car scars and ice-pick scars. I don’t see an abundance of tethered down scars, which can be greatly improved with subcision and fillers. For you I would start with TCA CROSS for the ice pick scars and a laser like Fraxel 1550 nm or even fractionated CO2. We’ve also had good tolerance and improvement in skin texture of acne scars using…
