Rhinoplasty For Big Noses

Rhinoplasty for big and crooked nose

Look for a very experienced rhinoplasty surgeon who repairs these type of noses on a daily basis for best results.

An ENT/ facial plastic surgeon would be a good start.

Also important to evaluate the internal portion of the nose to rule out a deviated septum, since the nose is so crooked.

In experienced hands, you should have an excellent result. (William Portuese, MD, Seattle Facial Plastic Surgeon)

Big crooked nose

I think your chances of getting a significant improvement in the appearance of your nose are quite high but look for a plastic surgeon who is very experienced in rhinoplasty.

The nose can be reduced in overall size and the crooked appearance reduced to create a very natural appearing profile that fits your face.

As both a board certified plastic surgeon and otolaryngologist, I am fortunate to treat many patients with your concerns each year. (Richard Chaffoo, MD, FACS, San Diego Plastic Surgeon)

Fixing a Large Crooked Nose Intelligently Requires UNderstanding Its Complexity and Appropriate Planning

While your complaints are common, they need to be handled with care. Your bony vault and cartilagenous vault are disjuncted or noncontiguous.

This makes the rhinoplasty slightly more complex. The osteotomies (breaks in your nasal bone have to be done very carefully and your dorsal aesthetic lines need to be restored in addition to removal of bobe and cartilage from your dorsum.

You also need your septum straightened. This needs to be done by a surgeon well versed in reconstructive and aesthetic procedures of the nose and face.

If I were to perform such a rhinoplasty, I would plan on taking a small part of one of your rib’s cartilages to have strong and straight material to perform an aesthetically sound and lasting rhinoplasty.

It may be possible to complete the rhinoplasty with cartilage removed from your nose but this must be determined intraoperatively. In my opinion you should only consider Surgeons who have completed a true plastic and reconstructive surgery training followed by a craniofacial fellowship and handle all kinds of revisionary and reconstructive rhinoplasties.

There are all kinds of practitioners out there that perform rhinoplasties but in general I believe you are in the best hands with a plastic and reconstructive surgeon who has extensive craniofacial surgery training and experience.

Having completed such training I know that I could have never tackled the complex noses I treat today without that experience – but that is my bias. (Rian A. Maercks, MD, Miami Plastic Surgeon)

You are absolutely a candidate for surgery. My advice would be first to find a surgeon in your area that is certified with the American Board of Plastic Surgery. If you go online they will have a listing of certified doctors in your area. Set up a consultation and meet with the doctor to iron out a surgical plan that will address all the issues and help to achieve the results that you are looking for.

Ask to see before and after pictures of patients who have undergone similar procedures. Remember to keep in mind that no two patients are exactly the same and results do vary, however, this should give you a gauge of the type of work the surgeon performs. Should you not feel comfortable at any time you are free to seek another doctors advice. I always advise patients that they have to be comfortable with both the doctor and the office staff because you will be following up with the office for quite sometime. I hope this information helps you and good luck. (Fadi Chahin, MD, FACS, Beverly Hills Plastic Surgeon)

You have a hump on your bridge and your nose is crooked. These can be fixed with a closed approach and you should have a very nice outcome. Look at my photos and you will see many patients just like you. This is a common nose correction that we do. (David Alessi, MD, Beverly Hills Facial Plastic Surgeon)

To best address your concerns, a thorough evaluation of the inside and outside of your nose is recommended to better evaluate the underlying anatomy of your nasal structures.

This will help determine how best to straighten the nose while still allowing you to breathe afterwards. 3-D computer imaging will also help you visualize what you may look like afterwards.

Please consult with a board certified specialist with training in both head and neck surgery and facial plastic surgery who can help you achieve the results you seek. (Kimberly Lee, MD, Beverly Hills Facial Plastic Surgeon)

What are the chances to get a good result with a big crooked nose?

In general, patients with your nasal appearance can get a significant cosmetic improvement with an artistically performed rhinoplasty. While the nose can be straightened, it may never be identical from side to side.I would suggest that you find a surgeon certified by the American Board of American Plastic Surgery and one who is ideally a member of The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) that you can locate through the “Smart Beauty Guide”.

You should discuss your concerns with that surgeon in person. (Robert Singer, MD, La Jolla Plastic Surgeon)

Well-performed rhinoplasty surgery may lead to a smaller, straighter nasal appearance.

On profile, you appear to have an overprojected tip with a dorsal hump and a tension-lip. On front view, your nose appears crooked with an indentation along your left bridge. You may benefit from consulting several rhinoplasty specialists so you could see what might be best for you. (Eric M. Joseph, MD, West Orange Facial Plastic Surgeon)

The hump can be reduced, and the nose can be straightened. No nose will ever be perfectly straight, but the surgery will definitely improve it. (Kenneth B. Hughes, MD, Los Angeles Plastic Surgeon)
