Rhinoplasty is possible with thin skin
As the other physicians have stated, it should be possible to achieve a similar result to the picture you demonstrated.
Every patient has thinner skin of the nasal dorsum and thus this area can show potential irregularities.
It is impossible to achieve perfect symmetry and no irregularity, however, most of the time this is barely noticeable to the patient or even the physician.
Before you consider surgery it is important as you are currently doing to collect as much information as possible and realize that there are never any guarantees.
Generally speaking for what you desire, this should be able to be achieved. (Samson Lee, MD, Seattle Facial Plastic Surgeon)
Hump removal works even with thin skin
Your pictures look wonderful, and in our office we use computer simulation surgery on all. This way we can avoid vague terms, and have a chance to clearly understand how the changes offered in rhinoplasty will affect appearance.
Thin skin should be no deterrent, it only requires more care as the hump is reduced because any imperfections have a greater chance of showing through.
A surgeon with good experience should be able to solve that problem and give you the look that you love. (Peter E. Johnson, MD, Chicago Plastic Surgeon)
Rhinoplasty in patients with thin skin can yield excellent results
There are a number of techniques that compensates for thin skin when performing a rhinoplasty. Thin skin often shows every little irregularity that may occur. There are ways to camouflage this though, one is to cushion the skin with a very thin graft of what is called fascia to act like a carpet padding. I suggest you see a specialist in rhinoplasty for an opinion on what is best for your nose. (Steven J. Pearlman, MD, New York Facial Plastic Surgeon)
Rhinoplasty with thin skin
You actually look like a good candidate for a rhinoplasty based upon your photo. The concern with thin skin is that even very minor irregularities can show very easily, so you are at higher risk for this. Sometimes we turn patients down for surgery if we feel that they cannot accept the risks of surgery, and only you can decide if that applies in your situation. I suggest seeing another plastic surgeon or ENT in your area who could evaluate you and give you another opinion. (Nina S. Naidu, MD, FACS, New York Plastic Surgeon)
Thin skin is fine for rhinoplasty
It sounds as if your doctor saw something in talking to you that is impossible to evaluate on line. I love operating on noses with thin skin and if you only have a small bump, so you should have a good result. We can never know what you will like and have to talk to you to see how mature you are and what your expectations are. (William B. Rosenblatt, MD, New York Plastic Surgeon)
Rhinoplasty in thin skin
I would say based on your imaged goals, you’re a good candidate for a rhinoplasty. While no one can promise perfection, you should be able to achieve your expectations in the hands of an experienced rhinoplasty surgeon. Thin skin has its pluses and minuses. On the one hand, your surgeon will have to be very careful to create a smooth contour since any irregularities have a higher chance of showing through.
On the flip side, you will likely find that you heal faster and can achieve a very defined look. Don’t get discouraged by one opinion. See a number of nose specialists until you find one you are comfortable with. (Jason Litner, MD, Beverly Hills Facial Plastic Surgeon)
A great surgeon can produce nice rhinoplasty results despite thin skin
Just because you have thin skin it does not mean you won’t have very nice results and very nice improvements. However, patient expectations are variables that can only be determined during a close up consultation.
Some patients are just not ever happy no matter how nice their results may be. And others are much more realistic about healing, etc. Think skin patients require a surgeon with meticulous skill and attention to detail.
Fascia or Alloderm may be needed as a camouflage layer during your surgery. Just make sure you find a great surgeon. (Shervin Naderi, MD, FACS, Washington DC Facial Plastic Surgeon)
Rhinoplasty with thin skin
While it is true that more bony/cartilage irregularity will “show” in patients with thin skin, it does not mean that you cannot achieve a great result. The surgeon just has to be more aware about it during surgery. The virtual postoperative image you have drawn can be safely achieved. (Mehryar (Ray) Taban, MD, FACS, Los Angeles Oculoplastic Surgeon)
You can have a rhinoplasty with hump removal very easily
Go get other opinions because you CAN have a rhinoplasty with hump removal very easily. From the posted photos I would see NO reason not to do your surgery. (Darryl J. Blinski, MD, Miami Plastic Surgeon)
