Rhinoplasty Aspirations
Your goals to reduce your dorsum and shorten your nose are definitely possible in general, but computer imaging is a tool to get an idea of the changes that are possible with rhinoplasty and not a blueprint of your final rhinoplasty goal.
There are many variables in healing with this procedure and it requires a year or more for full healing. With all that said it appears that rhinoplasty would be a very good option to look into. (Algird R. Mameniskis, MD, Chicago Plastic Surgeon)
Achieving rhinoplasty goals
You are correct that only after a hands on examination can any surgeon tell you whether your goals are attainable given your anatomy and skin characteristics.
That said, it appears what you are requesting for a rhinoplasty should be obtainable as many patients request the same correction and contouring and achieve it.
See a local board certified plastic surgeon to see how best to achieve your wishes. (Jeffrey M. Darrow, MD, Boston Plastic Surgeon)
Realistic Rhinoplasty Imaging
What you have imaged for your nose is an achievable goal. You have astutely figured out that when the dorsal hump is removed the tip of the nose looks long and some slight adjustment needs to be done to it as well. (you mean miliimeters of shortening not centimeters) (Barry L. Eppley, MD, DMD, Indianapolis Plastic Surgeon)
Rhinoplasty goals
First, it’s good that you are trying to explain the result you want. It will help your surgeon communicate what can be done. Second, it looks like you might have made your nose a bit too small in proportion to your face.
You certainly have a hump but it also looks like the radix might be a little low. If this is the case, sometimes it is best to add a graft to raise the radix so the hump doesn’t have to be lower too much. Sounds like you are ready for a consult. (Ronald Schuster, MD, Baltimore Plastic Surgeon)
I think what you are asking for is attainable. There are a few things you will want to consider when you lower the dorsum but those can be discussed with your rhinoplasty surgeon. Your surgeon will morph photos of you in their office and you will be able to see how one change will be reflected in the other views. (David Reinstadler, MD, Newport Beach Facial Plastic Surgeon)
Of course your rhinoplasty goals are obtainable. See several facial plastic specialists with several years of experience.
Make sure you like their photos. Do your homework and you increase your chances of being happy. (M. Sean Freeman, MD, Charlotte Facial Plastic Surgeon)
Rhinoplasty for dorsal hump reduction and realistic goals
The computer imaged photographs do appear to be obtainable and realistic. The dorsal hump is composed of bone and cartilage and must be shaved down in order to remove it. Osteotomies of the nasal bones are also required. The length of the nose can also be adjusted through closed rhinoplasty techniques. For many examples of hump removal in our practice, please see the link and video below. (William Portuese, MD, Seattle Facial Plastic Surgeon)
Rhinoplasty appearance
I think your goals are realistic. But the only way to know what truly can be achieved is by having and examination and consultation. Photo imaging is a great way to communicate, but it is not a predication or guarantee of a surgical outcome. You should seek a facial plactic surgeon who actually specializes in rhinoplasty. (James Shire, MD, Chattanooga Facial Plastic Surgeon)
Is photoshop version of rhinoplasty attainable in real life?
This seems reasonable but an in-person consultation with nasal examination would be more useful. Bring your version in for the surgeon to see. (Karol A. Gutowski, MD, FACS, Chicago Plastic Surgeon)
