Please help me! Is this necrosis? Will it heal?
Nipple/Areolar necrosis
Feb 20, 2015
I would agree that this is necrosis. To what extent I can’t say without an examination. You should follow the guidance of your Plastic Surgeon and consult with him/her for any concerns. With necrosis it’s a watch and wait scenario. Good Luck
What is your opinion on a lift? And one is quite larger than the other?
Breast Lift
Feb 20, 2015
You look like a great candidate for a breast lift. Your surgeon may want to reduce the left side a little bit to get your breasts as symmetric as possible. If you haven’t had a consultation yet please make sure it is with a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon. Good Luck
Any suggestions on how my asymmetry may be corrected?
Feb 20, 2015
Your breast augmentation looks great. Without preop pictures I’m not sure if your breast were asymmetric naturally, which most women are. At this point you left breast looks slightly larger, which is minimal at best and it could just be swelling from your procedure still. If it is your nipple asymmetry you are worried then you could have a crescent left on your right side to lift up the areolar, but then you will have a scar there. Talk to your Plastic Surgeon about your options…
Sleeping after breast implants. How long will I have to sleep on my back?
Sleeping Position after Breast Augmentation
Feb 20, 2015
Great question. You should ask your Plastic Surgeon and follow his protocol. I usually tell my patients to sleep on their back for at least 2 weeks then they can try out their side. Good Luck
Is this pain after Breast implant removal normal?
Pain after implant removal
Feb 20, 2015
Sorry to hear about your pain. After implant removal it takes time for your capsule to “scar down”. This may be what your pain is coming from. As the scar tissue forms it can be painful. Please see your Plastic Surgeon and be evaluated to assure you don’t have an infection.
How long does it take for breasts to settle after breast implant removal and lift?
Implant removal and lift
Feb 20, 2015
It should take around 6 months for your breasts to settle. At that point you can talk to you Plastic Surgeon about any concerns you may have. Good Luck
Is my right breast bottoming out? Or will my left breast catch up?
Feb 20, 2015
It looks like your right breast may still be swollen or you had some breast asymmetry naturally. Without your pre-op pictures it is hard for me to comment, but since it has only been 4 weeks you still have some time for things to settle out. Follow the advise from your Plastic Surgeon. Good Luck
Did working out on the spin bike three weeks post op set my healing process back to the beginning?
working out after breast augmentation
Feb 20, 2015
I usually tell my patients to wait 4 weeks before any kind of exercise. The reason is because I want to make sure the incision is totally healed. When you sweat it can run under you breast causing irritation of the incision and can sometimes cause an infection. I think you need to take it easy and follow up with your Plastic Surgeon. Good luck
What is a prudent length of time for drains after explant with capsulectomy?
Drain removal after capsulectomy
Feb 12, 2015
Hi and thank you for the question. The timing of drain removal cannot be accurately predicted before the procedure is performed. The drainage will be impacted by the amount of dissection that needs to be done to remove your capsule. Generally, I like to leave drains in place until they are putting out less than 30ml of fluid for three days in a row. This will decrease the risk of seroma formation. Hope this helps, good luck with everything.
Tanning after breast reduction?
Tanning after breast reduction
Feb 12, 2015
Hi and thank you for the question. Tanning in a salon has been proven to increase your risk of skin cancer. So, even if you are to cover your incisions, it is still important to prevent further skin damage. Good luck with everything!
Adominal walls still hurt after five years. Is this normal?
Pain after 5 years
Feb 12, 2015
Hi and thank you for the question. It is not usual to have pain caused from an abdominoplasty five years after the procedure. A good plan would be for you to start with calling your board certified Plastic Surgeon, but they may direct you to a general surgeon to rule out any other problems. Good luck with everything!
Does the left end of my scar look infected?
Feb 12, 2015
Hi and thank you for the question. From your photos, this would appear to be localized inflammation from a suture abscess. This is often caused from burying the knots after suturing closed an incision. However, if you have a concern you should always call and make an appointment to see your board certified Plastic Surgeon. Good luck with everything.
Location of the old BB?
Location of BB
Feb 12, 2015
Hi and thank you for the question. With just a picture it is hard to determine if a vertical incision would even be necessary. Your best plan would be to make an appointment with a board certified Plastic Surgeon. Good luck with everything!
11 weeks until my wedding day & considering open rhinoplasty- too late? Yes or No?
Rhinoplasty before Wedding
Feb 12, 2015
Hi and thank you for your question. I think if you wanted to do this before your wedding, it probably would have been better to do it 6-9 months ahead of time. Everyone heals differently and you could still have significant swelling only 11 weeks out. It seems as though this may cause even more stress if this were the case and you would be better off waiting until after. Good luck with everything.
What types of painkillers do you give patients after Rhinoplasty?
Pain relief after rhinoplasty
Feb 12, 2015
Hi and thank you for the question. Generally after most surgeries, NSAIDs and aspirin are avoided to reduce the chance of bleeding complications. In our practice, we give narcotics such as Percocet and Vicodin.
