Is my nose hard to fix? I’m looking to have it refined.
refining your nose.
Feb 20, 2017
In noses with thicker skin, changes made to the nasal cartilages may not be as noticeable compared to patients with thinner skin. Nonetheless, I’d recommend that you consider another consultation with an experienced facial plastic surgeon. Depending on what your goals are, refining your nose should be an achievable goal. Best of luck to you!
Inverted v deformity or open roof? Will it get better?
Inverted V
Feb 16, 2017
I would recommend talking with your rhinoplasty surgeon. Usually, and inverted V does not improve, and may require revision to correct. The revision can be relatively minor or more extensive given the severity of the deformity. Best of luck to you!
Nasal Obstruction and Pressure on Eye Socket
Soreness and discomfort involving the nasal bone and orbit.
Feb 16, 2017
I agree that seeing an ENT or facial plastic surgeon is the way to go. Physical examination and CT imaging will help to delineate the source of your discomfort. If you’ve had a rhinoplasty in the not too distant past then it may be a good idea to see your rhinoplasty surgeon as well. What you had done in the past my be impacting the symptoms you are experiencing.
My septum is too long. Can it be moved to the same height as the nostrils?
Shortening the septum
Feb 16, 2017
Yes. This can all be accomplished fairly easily along with your other concerns with a rhinoplasty. Making adjustments to the septum are often done to shorten the nose and alter the position of the nasal tip. When you go for a consultation with a rhinoplasty surgeon, make sure to voice all of the concerns you have with your nose so that you and your doctor can have an open conversation about what can be done to achieve your goals. Best of luck!
Is it possible to lower my nostrils after rhinoplasty?
Lowering your nostrils
Feb 10, 2017
Yes. Retraction of the nostrils, or nasal ala, is a known complication of rhinoplasty surgery. It is certainly possible to do that and usually the revision procedure is less invasive. The techniques for accomplishing this vary, but it usually involves using cartilage grafting; either borrowing cartilage from your septum to place small grafts along the alar rims (rims of the nostrils) or using skin and cartilage from the ear to place inside the nose to lower the ala…
Can I use a netipot after revision rhinoplasty?
Postoperative recovery
Feb 10, 2017
The simple answers is yes, saline irrigations are usually good idea postoperatively. This may be difficult to do if you have splints intranasally. Usually, I recommend using Ocean Spray until the splints come out and then starting saline irrigations shortly after. Obviously, it is a good idea to check with your surgeon as preferences may vary.
What options do I have to reduce a swollen cheek muscle on the right side of my face?
A few possibilities
Jan 29, 2017
There are a few possibilities that may explain why the right cheek appears more swollen than the other.
One, is simply that your right masseter is more hypertrophic than the left. That might be simply because you chew more on that side, the alignment of your bite is such that one side experiences more force of mastication (chewing) than the other. That could have possibly been altered by the wisdom tooth extraction.
Second, everyone has a little facial asymmetry. Your…
